  1. More data. I was having a lot of error readings on the chrono so I would like to run the major 4.4 gr. load again to verify. Minor load, 165 gr. Xtreme HP, 4.4 gr. AA#2, 1.135 OAL: AVG 844.5 fps PF 139.3 Major load, 200 gr. Xtreme RNFP, 4.1 gr. AA#2, 1.135 OAL: AVG 744.5 fps PF 148.9 Major load, 200 gr. Xtreme RNFP, 4.4 gr. AA#2, 1.135 OAL: AVG 793 fps PF 158.6 I'm still way far from my goal for #2 as a minor load and I don't really care for the recoil as it is, so I'm going to Solo 1000 for minor. I really like the feel of AA#2 with the 200 gr. so I will go to 4.7 gr. to see if that will make major.
  2. Has anyone tried the Checkmate (CMI) mags? Any thoughts?
  3. Okay, got some data: Glock 35 Independence Factory 180 gr. (for reference): 938.5 945.5 949.3 PF 169.9 Minor load, 165 gr. Xtreme HP, 4.7 gr. AA#2, 1.135 OAL: 888.2 903.0 872.1 854.3* 875.4 PF 146.7 Major load, 200 gr. Xtreme RNFP, 5.6 gr. AA#5, 1.135 OAL: 760.6* 802.4 793.7 800.9 813.8 PF 160.5 Major load, 200 gr. Xtreme RNFP, 6.1 gr. AA#5, 1.135 OAL: 841.0 851.0 851.1 854.6 854.0 PF 170.5 (*) were excluded. I'm going to work the minor AA#2 load down a little but don't really care for the velocity spread already so may just end up going to Solo 1000. I will also come down a tenth or two the 6.1 gr. AA#5 load and work a major load with AA#2 next and see which one I like better. All the loads were clean and accurate with no signs of overpressure.
  4. Thanks! I haven't got out to test mine yet but I will definitely post results when I do.
  5. Thanks for the replies and the link! I loaded some test rounds today and will post up the data when I chrono it.
  6. Interesting responses, I actually liked the v3 better than the v4. Probably close to the same weight but the v3 felt more crisp at the break.
  7. Looking to work up a load with the AA#2 and AA#5 I currently have. I would like to do a minor (130 pf) load with 165gr. Xtreme HP and major (170 pf) with 200gr. Xtreme RNFP. Do you guys have any relevant data on these loads? Thanks in advance.
  8. This. This is great BTW. My wife signed up on the forum to get me an ACOG out of the classifieds for fathers day... I was extremely suprised and pleased. Good luck!
  9. Mom's are hot!!!!

  10. I bought 250 of both 124gr and 147 gr from Berry's just to see which one I like.
  11. Love your avatar! Okay, I looked up the load data to make sure I follow you. 147 gr. Solo 1000 S-2.9 M-3.4 D=0.5 No.7 S-5.4 M-6.2 D=0.8 WSF S-3.9 M-4.3 D=0.4 Unique S-3.9 M-4.3 D=0.4 If I understand you, you're saying something like the No.7 would work best because it has the largest difference between the starting load of 5.4 and the max load of 6.2, right? I also read about metering, would the larger amount of powder make it easier to have consistent loads?
  12. Copy, thanks for the replys, What about splitting the difference and shooting 62gr? Are the 69gr still far better to 400 yards? I only have a connector and spring kit in the 34 but I will look into the Fed/WIn primers instead. I also still only have the stock barrel so I will be using jacketed. Why JHP for the big matches?
  13. Just read it was a good powder for that grain on a few posts.
  14. Hi all, Just ordered my first reloading setup and need suggestions on components. I'm doing 9mm and .223 and have the following porducts from what I came up with dearching around on here. This is only what I think I want, so please let me know if you have any other suggestions or if I can substitute something out for an equal product that may be cheaper. 9mm - Glock 34 - Currently shooting Win 147 gr. Super X fully encapsulated and want to make something that feels similar to that but a bit softer. Thinking of same grain bullet, CCI #500 primers, Solo 1000 powder. .223 - 16" 1:9 twist - I currently shoot 55 gr. out to about 450 yards. I'm thinking stay 55's to start, CCI #400 primers, and A2230 powder. I'm also tempeted to buy in bulk to save cash, will I notice a big differnce in primers or powder with keeping everything else the same? Thanks, Matt
  15. I figured it out!!! It was the mag tube. The ends had a bit of metal left from the machining that was hanging up the shell. I didn't notice it until I tired to install the Nordic follower, it was slightly larger diameter, and it wouldn't transition into the factory tube without hanging up. I sanded and polished out the ends of the tube and it works perfect.
  16. So I got to mess with it again yesterday. Took it apart again and re-assembled. Still having the same problem... When the mag is loaded with any number of rounds, the gun will not load by cycling the action, the bolt does not lock back, and the round does not move. When the hammer is dropped on an empty chamber, the shell does not load onto the lifter. I got it to load maybe 2 out of 20 tries so I'm going to go ahead and send it back to Mossberg. I don't really want to cut the spring or mess with the shell stop, although I realize it's probably one of those two items, I think it should be taken care of by the factory (actually, come from the factory in working order) in case of future issues Thanks for the tips. BTW how's Mossbergs customer service and turn around time?
  17. The shell did not leave the mag tube when it was cycled and it did lock open. I will double check this tomorrow when I get home but I remeber it locking back without the shell loading. So the trigger would release a shell stop and let the next round into the lifter, correct? I will try that too. Thanks.
  18. Hello All, Long time forum stalker, first time posting... there's so much info on this site I've never needed to ask a question! I just recieved my first semi auto shotgun. Mossberg 930 Turkey, 24" vent rib with fiber optic rifle sights. I feels great and was priced right. I'm using this for multi purpose; clays, birds, and 3 gun. When I got it, I broke it down and cleaned it, gave it a light lube. We took it out trap shooting and put 100 3 1/4 dram 1 1/8 oz loads through it and about 25 Winchester Universal. The thing was it was an open bolt range, I just loaded through the chamber and never fed through the magazine. The gun shot everything perfectly and felt really nice. So I get home, clean it, then relized I never loaded through the tube so I start messing with that.... So my problem is it won't load by cycling the bolt with any number of shells in the tube. It also will not load from the tube when there is a round in the chamber and the bolt is cycled. This is my first semiauto so I'm wondering if I put the mag tube in to tight or loose or doing something that may be obvious to you. I called Mossberg and they said send it in, they couldn't tell what was going on by what I was describing, but who really wants to send in a gun they just got. I'm also planning on waiting until I can install the Nordic extension to see if it's a spring/mag tube issue. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.
