I have a Storm Lake in my 45, shoots like nobodies business. I have another one on order. I think they are a great barrel.

I've found over the years that if you don't get what you really want sooner or later you will trade up to it and would have saved time and money in the long run. Good luck with your choice. Gabe

I would think a barrel would be included in the parts too. SVI's are super guns, and I've shot one, but I would save my money and get the Apiero, I really like mine. If your determined on the SVI though that's what i'd go for. Good luck.

I would think the whole slide assembly would have to be swapped out. If that's the case shouldn't be too bad. If you retain the same slide I would imagine it would be a complete barrel assembly along with slide spring, probably extractor and maybe slide stop. Did you see what extra parts there were for the swap. Knowing what they are would make it a whole lot easier to advise. Gabe

I've got a Premier II in 9mm that I use in IDPA. I'd honestly save the extra money they charge and spend it on ammo and matches.

DAA Racemaster, bought one when they first came out and still like it.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Just wondering. What purpose do the flutes serve?

Appreciate the help and thanks for the replies. No need to call STI after all. Only barrel I've ever seen done like that. Never to old to learn something new.

The pictures are of the chamber on my 40 S&W Apiero with the Schuman barrel. Ramp is at 10 o'clock. Just found it this afternoon cleaning the gun. It appears that the chamber has some cuts in it that shouldn't be there. They match up with the grooves in the barrel. Don't know if it came that way or has developed over time somehow being cut by the pressure and gasses. The gun shoots and functions fine. Right around 3000 rounds through it. All Reloads. 180 gr bullet with a WSP primer, N320 powder and assorted cases. Chronographed at 850 to 875 fps so they aren't hot by any means. I'll call STI Monday and get their take on it, but thought I'd ask you all too. There's some good gunsmiths and knowledgable people on this forum, maybe they have seen this before. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Gabe

Placed a bullet order the middle of April, still waiting on 8000 of the 10000 I ordered. Hopefully I'm higher on the waiting list then I was 3 months ago.

Thanks Tom.

Will be in the area next weekend and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good gunshop to check out. Thanks. Gabe

I also use the Dawson mags. They have ran great in both the Spartan I had and a Les Baer.

I agree, a little bigger picture would be nice. Looks good from what I can see though.
-
I'm going with the concensus. A Bladetec would be the way to go.

An Eagle with a bushing barrel can be used for about all venues. That's the one I'd get. The extra weight of an Edge in 9mm to me wouldn't be that advantageous.

I agree with Vincent. I have an Apeiro and while not a Sight Tracker I would think it would have essentially the same recoil characteristics as a Sight Tracker. Out of the guns I've gone through I like it the best. Maybe one of these days I can have a Sight Tracker or a custom built.

Good for you. I quite 25years ago. Smoked 3 packs a day. Woke up one night with a chest cold and couldn't hardly breathe. Quite right then and there. Drempt about smoking the first 10 years or so. It will get easier. Good luck.

Go with Dawson, they run great in my Les Bear.

I've been shooting with both eyes open with the shotgun for years. I would think the benifits would carry over to pistol as well. I'm gonna give it a try.
-
I don't think you have a thing to worry about. If there is no reliability issues shoot the heck out of it.

The gun I use likes the fmj much better. Didn't want to feed the jhp very well. I guess it's all about dependability and accuracy. Gabe

does anyone have a place to buy a dueling tree or plate rack around the Evansville Indiana Louisville Lexington Kentucky area. Thanks. Gabe
Strange Problem with STI Edge
in 1911-style Pistols

I have a friend with the same problem. He called STI and they told him they were having some trouble with the recoilmasters getting bound up in the gun and not letting the slide come back like it should. He sent his back so they could get it apart. He told me that they told him that they have done something to the newer recoilmasters to cure the problem. I've got an Apiero and while I haven't had any trouble with the recoilmaster in mine apparently enough people have to cause them to do something about it.
