  1. These are both supposed to be novak cut sights.....the one of the right is whats actually installed on my gun. The one of the left is what I just bought to replace them. So if the one on the left is more or less to Novak Spec....how far off is the one on the right then ?

  2. Thanks guys. I'll start reaching out to them.

Of course one thing I hadn't considered was getting someone to "pimp" out the current 4.15 slide setup for limited. Hell if I can shoot that well enough in competition, if I ever need to defend myself it should work pretty well for that also.

  3. Try Gary Gans @ gansguns.com. He has a price list of the work he does on his website. You can get an idea if the project will be worth it if you check out the prices first. Regarding parts, you'll have to acquire the parts yourself and send them to him for the work. There's lots of vendors in this site for parts. Gans does good work, has reasonable prices and has a real fast turnaround.

Thanks I'll check him out. Photo's on the site look fairly nice.

  4. I think the frame is normally fit to the slide not the other way around, so if you fit it to a full length slide you might not have the same quality gun with the original upper. Otherwise, you would have to find a full length slide that goes on easily which probably means needing several to choose from.

Seems weird they would fit the Serial Numbered part to the non serial numbered part.

  5. Hello: The $1000 or so would be for all new parts as I listed above with labour  Why not get a 6" top end built for it? That would be a better option I think. Thanks, Eric

Ya I'm not apposed to that, just need to find someone who will do it rather than giving me the "its too exp, your better off buying a entire new gun".

  6. Hello: I would give Benny Hill a call at Triangle Shooting Sports. Some questions you may want to ask yourself "is it going to be worth doing"? Also what will I have when it is done? What is the budget to do the project? It may cost you $1000 to get a new top end fitted with all new parts. Just something to think about  Thanks, Eric

When you say 1k, is that parts included or just the actual labor?

Right now its looking like its not worth it to keep the gun period.

  7. So can anyone recommend smiths who would do fitting work and possibly provide the parts for a new upper I want to build? I've struck out with a couple of guys so far on this forum, with them basically telling me to buy a new gun instead of building and fitting as basic upper to my existing lower.

  8. Hey guys I just picked up a STI Tactical 4.15" from a buddy. And I'm wanting to get a separate 5" upper to use for limited 3 gun on it, can anyone suggest a place where I might find that?

Keep an eye on the classifieds.

    Not mine: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110921

I think that if you buy a used upper, it may, or, may not be able to be fitted to your lower. I'd suggest sending it to somebody like Bedell, or, Bennie, and having one built to your frame.

Thanks I'll get in contact with them about it. Ya I saw that ad and msg'd him earlier, won't work on mine due to the para cut :(

  9. +1, I have a 4.15 in 9mm with Aluminum frame. It's tackdriver. I use mine in 3G too, like the fact I can get 23 rounds in gun with 140mm mags. I shoot 40 5" STI in Ltd.

Thanks guys. We came to a agreeable price, so I'm going to pick it up.

  10. Sometimes you have 50+ yard shots at 3 gun matches, depending on what match you are shooting.

The 4.15 would work fine, the only disadvantage would be the sight radius. Some guys are shooting 6" guns at 3 gun matches for the longer range shots. I have a 4.15 and I like how it shoots and handles. I shoot a 5" at matchs and use the 4" for carry.

    Randy

Thanks. If I can get him to get reasonable on the price I'll probably pick it up regardless.

  11. Is it the steel frame model?

What other guns do you have to shoot 3 gun with?

Nighthawk Talon 1, 5" barrel 1911. Looks like I'll just pick up some 10rd mags for that, guy decided he wanted my old nib shotgun + another 1k in cash for the STI.

Ya its the steel frame model.

  12. Hey guys I've got a friend trying to sell his STI Tactical 4.15, and he's offered it to me at a good price. Is it worth it for me to pick it up and shoot 3 gun with it, or would that do more harm than good due to the shorter barrel on it?

  13. Yeah-all I can do now is mess it up. I kind of want to try the PG in the M2 just to compare. I am going to leave it in the standard configuration. I like the stock bolt handles, never really felt a need for something bigger. You may not think so, but a lot of this information is difficult to grasp and I have had to detail strip my Benelli's like a hundred times in order to understand what is going on with the gun-this forum and kurtm's and all the other knowledgable guys posts are an invaluable resource. Or maybe I just like stripping my guns.

Does this look like a good deal?

It was a pretty good deal yesterday, when it was $800, but, I see now, that it's up to $935, and 3 hours to go....

    ya not any more :(

  15. Check out Velocity Shooter in Dealers if you want a tuned M2. Or call Benny Hill after you get your own M2. It's not money wasted. 21" M2 Comfortech. If you hate it you can sell it easily. 18.5 " Benellis sell pretty easily, too, especially in HD and LE markets, but they are not the best for competition. Listen to the guys that already suggested vent rib in 21". The thing about the pistol grip is if you want it, you have to be able to really know your gun and what needs to be done to keep it running(proper parts matched with proper gun, mods correctly done), I love mine, but it's taken a year and several blown matches to get where I want. I much prefer the PG especially for left hand loading, but I have an M1 Super 90 with standard stock that is working really good right now. (M1 precursor to M2). After the PanAm Shotgun, I am going to try out a PG on my M2, I have it now, just no time to tweak it. There's a lot of stuff in the forum already about this very subject, good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to source one of the 21" vents locally so I can get a feel for it first.

  16. Seems its easier for me to get the 18.5 locally + the rebates make it cheaper. But its really what I can find at this point.

I'm trying to stay out of open on shotguns otherwise sounds like a tuned saga would be the way to go there.

Don't let cheaper make up your mind. I bought the first M1 I could find only to go and get an M2 shortly thereafter. If you can get out to shoot a few do so.

I wasn't suggesting shooting open. I shoot tac optic with a long tube. I like the extra mag capacity ever now and again. Plus I can use it as a bayonet when the clays fly at you.

Ah thanks. Going over to a place tomorrow who's got them:

    Used M2 Field [camo]- $1000

    New M2 American- $950

    New M2 w/ Comfort Tech Stock- $1120.00

Debating on the Field or the comfort Tech Stock.

  17. Unless you get a really really good deal, i.e. under 700 on a 18.5" gun go with the 21" vent rib barrel. Most 18.5" that I have seen are rifel sight or peep sight. I could be wrong on the 18.5" configs but but you definately want the vent rib.

Out of the box, the M2 holds 3+1 so a +3 extension would ony give you 6+1 rounds and you want 8+1 minimum. I use a +8 that holds 12 rounds +1 in the tube and +1 on the lifter for 14 rounds total capacity. My tube sticks way out past the barrel and it hasn't been shot off yet. All the open Benlli shooters have tubes that stick past the barrel too. At first it looks goofy but you will get used to it.

I use all standard grip stock on my M1 & M2. The M2 Comfortech give you like 20% reduced recoil over the non commfortech stocks. I have read and been told that the pistol grip stocks can cause reliabilty issues but I couldn't tell you what and why those issues are. I just went with what most guys are using on the major match scene. However, Taran Butler does run a psitol grip and he's pretty good;)

  18. Hey guys I'm getting ready to start shooting shotgun/3gun type events and had a question on the M2 setup.

If I were to go with a 18.5 over the 22" or longer barrels would I be majorly gimping my self?

I know I asked elsewhere, but if I did get the 18.5" putting on a +3 extension to bring it up to 8+1 there shouldn't be any problems with the tube sticking out past the gun correct?

Pistol grip vs Full stock, a major difference for competition or just which fits me as a shooter better?

    Thanks for any help.
