  1. To follow up, the vest arrived today. It appears to be nicely made and I really like the camel color (Something a bit different than the usual khaki/green). With an extra mag in either pocket, the vest slings away nicely. Thanks again for all of your input!
  2. Thanks for all the great responses. I have decided to go with the lightweight eotac vest. A friend of mine just picked one up and I tried it on, it seemed to be nicely made and also was stiff enough to clear easily. As one man pointed out, some heavy starch will help keep it stiff enough if it should start getting flimsy. Also, these vests are on sale this weekend for $49.00. Seems like a good deal to me!

    Vests

Hey Guys, I am in need of a vest. There are a few I have been thinking about but it would be nice to get some feedback from those of you who own them. The number one concern for me is weight. Shooting on the coast of South Carolina doesn't lend itself to staying cool on the range half the year. Ideally it would be nice to find something that isn't a heat trap and heavy enough to sweep away for drawing and going for mags etc. What do you all use and what are your findings? The vests I have been looking at are: 1) Sigtac 2) Woolrich Elite 3) 5.11 4) Ordering the lightweight vest from the idpa website (unsure of manufacturer) I am certainly open to suggestions for other brands too. As you know the economy stinks lately, so I would like to keep the cost in the lower stratosphere if at all possible. Admittedly I am not a big fan of the tactical vest look, so something with less conspicuous tailoring would be nice but not required. Thanks in advance for your input!
  4. Thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate it. Going to grab some F/O tomorrow. Is there any particular brand of two part epoxy you recommend? Also, does the epoxy come off with ease if it gets too gunked up after a while?
  5. Last night I was cleaning my M&P pro and discovered that the fiber optic had been damaged and was about to fall out. So my question is: Does anyone know what diameter F/O I need to replace it. And also, what is the best method for securing the rod within the housing?
  6. blawson has no profile comments yet. Why not say hello?

  7. If you look at the most recent IDPA(4th sunday) match scores, I came in second. Prefer not to broadcast my whole name on the inet, if you know what I mean.
  8. Just to chime in a bit late: I have used the Apex sear and it significantly reduced my stock .40 trigger to around 3.3 lbs. The only issue is: It still needs some tuning as it does not seem to break at the same spot every time. Reset however is fantastic.
  9. Thanks for the insight Memphis, much appreciated. I watched a few of your videos, you're a heck of a shooter. Thanks again!
  10. Hello all, Last night I shot my first classifier in IDPA. I ended up coming in with a Sharpshooter (152.28). This being approximately my 4th month of shooting IDPA, IPSC or any sort of competition, I feel pretty good about it (sans some misgivings about misses). Hopefully next time will be better. My question to you all is: Being such a new shooter with no formal training and limited time to practice, what sort of drills and training regimen do you suggest. I know there is a wealth of information here and this subject has probably been beat to death. But I find it somewhat overwhelming and would appreciate a bit of guidance. It has been hard to discern where to start, how advanced to go etc.. Also, how should I start benchmarking my progress? Thank you all in advance! -tack
  11. Aglifter, I live in Socastee. I believe you showed me your SVI a few weekends ago? PBr, Yes that's correct.
  12. Welcome PBR, Err, I should say, welcome Prez! WLA member here!
  13. Hey all, New Guy from Myrtle Beach. Currently shooting IPSC & IDPA. I have been shooting both for around 3 months now. Thanks!
