Howdy all! I shot in a local IDPA match today. I shot pretty well, taking 3rd in SSP (UNCL). The guys who took 1st and 2nd must've been WAY faster. I only dropped 10 points for the entire match, while they dropped 23 and 28 points respectively. Am I taking too much time to get the "A" hits? It seems I need a better balance. Thoughts?

That's about what I'm doing now. I use a 155gr. lead SWC over 3.3 grains of Clays. (1.125 OAL) I haven't chrono'd it yet, but it shoots nice and the brass lands just to the side of my right foot. I already load for 9mm, but all I have are conversion barrels for my G35 and G22 at this point and they're no legal for IDPA.

My question concerns the "reduced recoil" loads of the .40 round. Since .40s can be made to shoot softer than a 9mm, why is the G34/17 still WAY more popular for IDPA? Do most comp shooters NOT reload? I know that 9mm factory ammo is alot softer than .40 stuff is. What am I missing? TIA!

I'm using 3.2-3.3 grains under a 155gr SWC lead bullet. It's loaded to 1.125 OAL, and shoots very well. The brass lands close to my right foot, and it cycles every time.

I've shot the match in Holbrook a few times. Frank does a nice job there. The IDPA shoot was in Prescott.

Howdy all! I live in Flagstaff, and just started competitive pistol shooting early last year. I joined the IDPA after shooting at a match a few weeks ago, and i also shoot in a few local non-sanctioned "matches" each month. I'm hoping to lurk and learn alot, and I'll try to use the search featue BEFORE asking silly questions!
