  1. Apex has made a change recently to the semi fit barrels. I have 2 older M&P pros, got first Apex barrel a couple years ago and it wouldn't go in either slide. Had to remove material in every spot to get it to fit. Got a second barrel about 2 weeks ago and it dropped in without touching it.

  2. I will check the pin length and confirm that it is ok. When I pulled the slide off at my club match the rear of the firing pin was flush with the pin retaining plate so the hammer wasn't hitting it. To get me through the match I stretched the firing pin spring and I didn't have another no strike the rest of the match.

  3. My SP01 Shadows has the CGW 11.5 main spring, their firing pin and spring. I've never had a light strike on any primers. Couple weeks ago at Area 4 i had 3 failure to fire on the first shot, it happened again last week at our club match. I was finally able to recover the round and there was no mark on the primer. It appears the firing pin spring was not returning the firing pin back far enough. I've never heard of anyone having that issue so thought I'd post it to help out. I've added the firing pin spring to the trigger return spring and slide stop in my repair kit.

  4. Here is a video of my M&P shot at 500 frames per second. The pistol is running a 13lb recoil spring. The load is 3.5 grains of titegroup under a 147 MG.

I was pulling the trigger as fast as I could, no way I could out run the slide.

  5. I had a 13lb spring keep the gun out of battery multiple times, or the slide would come out of battery when the striker hit the primer.

If it was the same spring in the gun when I got it I'm pretty sure it was an 11lb or was wore out. The spring was an inch shorter then the new 13lb that's in it now. I haven't had any issues with either spring even with CCI primers.

  6. The light strikes in my pistol were only happening on one of my reloads. I am using a 124gr MG over 3.6gr Clays. I was getting primer flow which built up debris in the firing pin hole and caused light strikes. The issues was the light Ti pin and the super extra power spring were not supporting the primer when it got hammered by the fast burning clays powder allowing the primer to flow. Didn't have any issues with factory loads or my titegroup loads. Since switching to steel pin I've ran a thousand or so clays loads without issue.

  7. I also have the SA I shoot in IDPA ESP & USPSA SS, I have 2 loads I shoot, a 124gr MG JHP loaded at 1.090 OAL and a 147gr MG CMJ loaded to 1.10. I use both Tripp and Metalform 10 round magazines. I have had a couple FTF with the JHP in the Tripp mags after hitting the slide release on a slide lock reload. No issues with JHPs using the Metalforms. When new I did have some feeding issues, the groove in the extractor was so tight I would get 3 point jams I replaced it with a Wilson Combat bulletproof extractor and no problems since. HTH.

  8. We shoot at Capital City (Topeka) the third Sunday of every month.

Seriously, though... What's the crowd like at Capital City? Being a complete noob, I don't want to end up in a place where I don't belong. If you've ever played golf then you know the guy who is on the first tee on a busy Sunday morning who has never played anything other than miniature golf That's what I'm afraid I'll feel like.

It's pretty laid back, we have 3 bays we shoot in and 3 squads. Usually around 10 people per squad, good mix of shooters from D class to Masters. Here's the website: http://www.capitalcitygunclub.com/pistol/ccps.html come over and give it a try.
