  1. I am using 200gr RNFP boolits from Missouri Bullet Company in my Colt series 70 1911 and my S&W 625 revolver. The first 1000 rounds were loaded to 1.200" overall length over 6.0gr of Unique and a Federal primer with a wee bit of crimp. Recently I reduced the charge to 5.5 grains, to lower the power factor closer to the minimum for ICORE, yet still function in my 1911. The drop in recoil is almost unnoticeable. Leading is extremely minimal in my 1911, but present in the revolver which is still pretty new. Because the profile of the RNFP appears to be the same as the pin busters from MBC, I am planning to up the charge a little and work up a poor man's pin load in the 200+ PF range. The 6.0gr load cleared pins pretty well last time, but still left dead wood on the table at times. Otherwise, I am quite happy with the load for shooting at steel or paper in competition, even if SWC boolits leave a slightly cleaner hole in paper targets.
  2. Undergraduate researcher, I shoot kneecaps in the name of science. The science of developing extremity armor.
  3. I'm from Nebraska originally, and I am attending SDSMT right now. Ive seen lots of folks get confused when they hear 'Midwest' and SDSU in the same sentence.
  4. Hello all, I am a college student and have been shooting at local matches here in South Dakota since last June. My club hosts lots of ICORE events and a variety of other matches (pins, steel challenge, run n gun, 2 gun, post shoots, mouse gun). Last year I was competing with a 2.5" Model 19 Smith, a FN FNP 45, and a Ruger MK III 22/25 with a dot. This year both my skills and equipment are improving. Now I will be competing with a Colt 1911 and a Model 625 smith. Because I'm so close to graduating debt free, I have been working on my guns myself and loading my own ammo. Right now my 625 has chamfered cylinders and a purdy Ahrends grips. Soon I will be polishing its insides, replacing springs, bobbing the hammer, and Jibroni-Engineering a moon clip holder. I also plan on shooting a lot more than before, well, as much ammo as I can turn out on my single stage press! This should be a fun summer!
