  1. I want to use the gun for steel matches we have locally and after every stage I have to eject a live round. Its not on the clock but I don't want to pry the round out of the extractor on the firing line. Thank you to everyone for the info. I've went back and forth and will just send it back. thanks again MIke
  2. One thing I was wondering is if I send it back do I have to put the ILS parts back in the original mainspring housing?
  3. I think I going to try this myself 1 at a time and see what happens. Thanks for the input guys.
  4. The S&A magwell comes attached to a new mainspring housing. To remove the ILS from my Springfield Loaded I used: 1. S&A magwell with checkered mainspring housing 2. Ed Brown 19lbs competition mainspring 3. mainspring cap 4. cap pin 5. retaining pin All parts came from Brownells and took a rookie about 20min to do the job (with the help of YOUTUBE)
  5. I am no expert but I shoot a fair amount of 600 yard f class matches a year. At the 300-500 range I don't think you will gain anything by neck sizing. I would recommend buying a head spacing gauge and set the shoulder back .001" when full length sizing. They will cycle smoothly and will put minimal fatigue on the brass. I have Lapua brass that has about 12 reloads on them and they are still going strong. Just my .02
  6. I put a S&A on mine with a set of VZ Operator II's. They fit the magwell perfect and provide a great grip surface. Don't forget to get the parts to convert away from the ILS.
  7. Thanks to all who replied. Yes it is well lubed. I haven't had a single issue aside from the extraction issue. I'll call Tuesday and see how it goes. I've had a string of bad luck with pistols. I bought a CZ P07 Duty a couple of months ago and it had to go right back.
  8. That makes me feel a little better.....I'm going to contact Springfield Monday and see what they will do about it. I thought I was getting something when I bought a Springfield. Should have saved about $150 and bought a Spartan.
  9. It will do it with 230gr LRN loaded at 1.260, 200 SWC loaded to 1.230 and with factory Remington/Federal 230 RN. Do the length of my rounds seem long?
  10. Yes it will eject spent cases just fine. I have tried really yanking on the slide. I end up having to push the jam down out the mag well with my finger.
  11. I recently purchased a springfield loaded and it is my first 1911. The pistol will not extract live rounds reliably. At first I thought it was the dummy loads I had made but tried it with 2 different types of factory ammo and it does the same thing. It will pull the round all the way out of the chamber but won't clear the ejection port. The round is still in the extractor then gets lodged in the ejection port. Do I have a extractor/ejector problem? It's driving me crazy.
  12. Thanks for the replies. For sure I'll double check in the manuals. Just wanted to be safe. Thanks again
  13. This is going to sound stupid but I'm researching loads for 45acp and I see clays mentioned mant times, are they talking about Hodgdon's universal clays? Just wonder which one to pick up. Thanks
  14. I use a similar bullet that is 125gr. and set it to a OAL of 1.075" On lead bullets I have been seating them so the lube ring is just covered.
  15. Dog Doc I'm new to the action pistol thing but have been loading and shooting rifles for a while. For .223 and .308 I prefer Varget or R15. Varget is NOT temp sensitive at all. If I can't get Varget than I use R15 both yielding the same accuracy. Google "ladder test" for working up new loads. It will show you where your accuracy node is and then you can fine tune the load in .1gr increment from there. This method is quick and has never let me down.
  16. Thanks for the replys. From what I have been able to find it is ok to reload. Thanks for all the replys.
  17. When I first started reloading I cleaned the primer pockets in pistol brass. I quickly gave that up. I haven't seen a difference. Precision rifle brass everytime.
  18. I was given a bunch of 1 fired RWS 9mm brass. It came from the stuff they sell at Wally World. I thought it was reloadable but now I have a question about it. I was hand priming them with a Lee primer and at the start the primer is pretty hard to get started then it just snaps in. I can't really tell if the primer pocket is crimped or not. I primed about 20 of them and they all do it. Is this stuff ok to reload? And if it is what is up with the primer pocket. Thanks
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give both a try.
  20. I think I'll try some 147gr lead bullets. You wouldn't happen to have any suggestions for a load would you?
  21. I was hoping that you guys could help me out. I have a M&P 9Pro and I am in the process of load developement. I have a ton of 125gr Lead conical flat point bullets. For powders I have Bullseye, Power Pistol, N340, and WST. I am having trouble finding a load for this bullet that is less than 4-5" at 25yds. It seems no matter what charge I try 4"-5" is the best that I can get. Does anyone have a pet load for this bullet and pistol that they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm starting to get very frustrated. With a 125 JHP and Power Pistol I can get 2" groups so I don't know if the problem is the bullet or powder/charge. The max OAL I can get with this bullet is 1.075". I can get HP38 locally if it will help.
  22. I'm looking forward to being there Sunday.
  23. Very nice to meet you guys. Maybe we could meet face to face there.
  24. I'm new to this forum and very green when it comes to practical pistol shooting. I got a good deal on a M&P 9pro for local uspsa and steel matches. It is a lot better than me at this point. My only problems with the gun is in the initial take up of the trigger. It feels like plastic on plastic rubbing together. My friends does it as well. I'm tring to figure out what it is and how to fix it. Honestly when I am shooting at speed I don't really notice it.
