  1. I have 2 of the 92X Defensive pistols that I use in IDPA and USPSA.  I am very happy with the pistols, but did up putting a small shim under the extractor spring.  I used a 2mm flat washer that fit perfect.    Both my slides are difficult to remove, but work butter smooth during normal operation.

I have had no issues at all since putting the shim under the extractor spring.

Situation occurred at recent Space Coast Challenge 2022 stage 5, basically gun loaded all spare ammo placed on table, on beep engage and at POC1 pickup spare ammo if needed proceed to complete COF. Competitor attempted to pickup 2 spare mags at table and stow. However he had difficulty stowing one of the spare mags and decided to leave it a the proscribed staging area  and he completed the course of fire successfully without needing it. Was issued a PE for leaving ammo behind. Protested to CSO and ultimately to MD. MD said PE, however could not supply the Rule section etc. Shooters argument was the ammo was staged prior to start and remained there after his attempt to stow (consumed too much time) during the course of fire as it was not needed. And further the written COF did not specify requirement to take/remove all spare ammo to complete the COF. Shooter was still issued a PE, without a clear rule book ruling. What say the experts here?

Strange that neither the CSO or MD could answer the question.  The CSO is extremely qualified.  The way I understood that stage was you didn't have to take all the magazines with you.  But once the shooter picked up the magazine and discarded it, he earned a PE by rule 3.4.7.

  3. Why us it that IDPA points are such a mystery? I remember having to scour the internet to figure it out and get a decent answer. I think HQ should just put something on your profile that tracks your points according to your reported match scores and be done with it. If they have code that tracks your classification, this has to be an easy fix wouldn't you think?

Then there is no guessing game and it makes it easier for them too, check a competitors profile to verify and you are set.

While they don't actually list your points, they have started adding the Tier level to each match in your "my score and classifications" section. So at least now we don't have to do a lot of searches to determine what level a match was - just a little math.

  4. yea if i could go back i'd most likey go with the shorter gun, same grip tho. i'd really like my production/fun gun to be able to be carried as well.

i'm thinking the 4.5 or 3.8 would fit my need or do you think i'll really miss the sight radius?

I use the 4.5 as my carry gun. The only reason I didn't go to a 3.8 was because besides slide length, the gun is exactly the same. So it is shorter but with the same frame so I figured the 4.5 was more beneficial.

I have both and recommend the 5.25. I believe the adjustable rear sight and front fiber is worth the extra cost.

Also, until IDPA rules on the PRP trigger, I would not use their trigger kit if you want to shoot SSP. There is debate if it is legal.

Edit: this is not a slam on the PRP trigger - I like them and have installed on most of my XDM's.

I have heard this but since the PRP trigger kit is all OEM parts I thought there wouldn't be an issue with this? Maybe? I may just be completely off and thinking of an entirely different issue too though :-P

Unfortunately, while I agree with you, there is a pretty big debate on the idpa forums about the PRP trigger. We are waiting for headquarters to actually reply and let us know what the decision is.

Which forum? Do you have a link to the thread?

  8. That doesn't sound right.

It's legal to retain anywhere on your body.

Mag holder, pockets, belt or your sock if you please. Just can't be retained in your hand.

Might not sound correct, but rule 8.6.1.2 says loading devices may not be placed in chest pockets.
