Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Aaron, you and Reagan had better get your tails back down here before next April. Thanks again for all the hard work!
  2. I think a lot of the fun of TXMG is indeed the fact that it is one match--where pros and amateurs all shoot together. While most of us amateurs are no competition for the pros, some do surprisingly well. For example, Sheldon Blackwell (one of our local Texas Multigun club shooters) came in second in Tactical last year (right behind Taran) and came in first this year in Limited. Lance Dingler, another local guy, came in 7th in Tactical this year.
  3. Glen, thanks for the feedback, and for your sponsorship of the match. The recipient of the rifle is VERY excited about it! I believe she shared her Facebook post on your FB page as well. Justin
  4. I loved how there were four spotters calling hits in unison. I'll bet there were no arguments about whether a hit was not properly called when you have that many spotters. It wasn't in stereo, it was in surround sound.
  5. Dave that sounds zakley like the story you told me while we were hanging out wating on the goodie table. And yes Sheldon exceeded all expectations as did Marcey they worked hard and long on this match, and it showed. I have not been to any BIG 3 GUN matches, but they sure set a high standard for the next one I go to. Ron, you can no longer say you've never been to a BIG 3-gun match. You've been to one of, if not THE, biggest, as of last weekend. Justin
  6. Benny you had me all buffuddled, I was thing crap if I have 10 or 12 rounds in there then what. Well I figured it out I'm an "A" kind a shooter and you like option "B".1.9Grounding Firearms 1.9.1 During the course requirements of a multi-gun stage, a participant may be required to ground a firearm in order to transition to another. The location and position of the grounded firearm will be specified in the written stage description. A participant shall transition firearms by safely grounding a firearm using either of the following acceptable and safe methods: (a) Loaded, safety engaged. ( Unloaded. Note: For purposes of Texas Multigun, "unloaded" means: (i) Empty chamber and empty source (tube or magazine); or (ii) Empty chamber and magazine completely removed Yep, most boomsticks have some sort of fancy lever/button that is called a "safety".
  7. So can we load past the div capacity after the buzzer or not? Yes, unless Lee steps in and corrects me. Rule 6.3.3 (f) reads "Not more than nine rounds total may be loaded at the beginning of any stage, unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing" (I added the underline for emphasis). Here we are on the eve of the event reading the rules for the first time. I like the open shotgun rules, no limit on the number of rounds on the start, ok 14 sounds good. Target scoring, wow now that could be interesting, slow a bit make all a's save ammo and time, it is worth the risk. Rules have been on the web site since January. Posted recently was the final revision as well as the FAQ.
  9. Since non-IPSC paper targets are being used, it would be worthwhile to clarify the rules or at least add to the FAQ. There are only 2 perforated circles on the match targets, with considerably more excess paper outside the outer scoring ring than on an IPSC target. That may cause some confusion to anyone just working off the rules. Just a suggestion. Check rule 7.5 7.5 When a 3-Gun Nation Rifle and Pistol Target is specified as a shoot target: 7.5.1 For Open, Limited, and Tactical Divisions, the 3GN target must have either one (1) "Center" hit in the 8" circle OR have (2) hits anywhere on the cardboard to avoid penalty. (a) Only one (1) hit on the cardboard and NO scoring hit in the 8" center circle is a 5 second penalty. ( Target engaged with no hits is a 10 second penalty. 7.5.2 For Heavy Tactical Division, (a) A designated rifle target must have one (1) hit anywhere on the cardboard to avoid penalty. Target engaged with no hits is a 10 second penalty ( A designated pistol target must have either one (1) "Center" hit in the 8" circle OR have (2) hits anywhere on the cardboard to avoid penalty. Only one (1) hit on the cardboard and NO scoring hit in the 8" center circle is a 5 second penalty. 7.5.3 For WW2 Division, the 3GN target must have (1) hit anywhere on the cardboard to avoid penalty. (a) Target engaged with no hits is a 10 second penalty. 7.5.4 Target Not Engaged (TNE) penalty is the same as for IPSC targets. I've just revised the FAQ to include a note pointing to that section: 3GN CARDBOARD TARGETS: Review Section 7.5 of the main rules document (RULES) for information on how Texas Multigun scores these new targets. Essentially, target is scored using the 8" inner circle and "the rest of the target", ignoring the larger 17.25" circle.
  10. No sight pictures even with an empty gun. You may briefly check your dot while muzzle pointed down (no higher than low ready), but sight pictures will slow down the match too much. Extra aimed shot at a target designated for the type of projectile you are shooting is not "round dumping". The reason for the rule is safety, so an extra aimed shot does not pose a safety risk.
  11. There are right around 30 WWII division competitors.
  12. If you have an Android device, try playing around with Strelok. You can adjust the altitude, temperature, pressure, etc. and get a decent feel for what changes to expect. I'm sure there are other ballistic calculators, this is just the one I'm most familiar with. Justin
  13. Pat, if you flat cannot fit something post it here and I'll bet someone will jump in and offer to loan it to you for the match.
  14. Pull up the email you got from "postmaster@texasmulti-gun.com" This should be the email you received after you signed up on line. The waiver is in the body of the email, just print and sign. My confirmation email dated 2/14/12 did not include a waiver form. You are misunderstanding--the email you received at the time of registration, which you printed and signed and sent with the match fees, included the waiver. If you recently received a confirmation, we should already have your waiver.
