Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I hope this isn't too far off topic, but is there a reason not to shoot .40S&W rounds in a 10mm barrel (in a 1911) if the .40 round is loaded long say 1.2"? G-manBart mentioned he had shot .40 rounds loaded as long as 1.260" without problems which is max OAL in 10mm in at least one manual.
  2. Can I shoot .40 with an OAL of 1.2" in a 1911 in a 10mm handgun reliably and accurately or should I just pay more for a 1911 in .40? I have found 10mm 1911s are more common and cheaper than 1911s in .40 at least where I live. I have a good amount of .40 brass and its cheaper than .45 brass even if I have to buy more. I apologize in advance if its a dumb question. Thank You, Jim
  3. I have a fair quantity of commercially produced lead 155 grain bullets (with lube in one groove) for my .40 S&W that I have been shooting with 4.6 grains of WST powder. I have been getting some leading with this combination and was wondering whether coating the whole bullet with some additional lube such as the Rooster lube I have seen advertised would solve this problem. The bullets were made by Western Nevada/West Coast Bullets out of Carson City, NV several years ago. Thank you for your assistance.
