  1. I hope its the only issue too! I really like the gun. Hopefully S&W will make it right and I can report about the great service from them! Jim
  2. After reading posts on here and M&P pistol, I see this is not an isolated event. I guess I'm a little late to the party! I read your posts and watched your disassembly video, very informative, thanks. Sounds like my issues and yours are very close. I think I'll go ahead and send it to S&W and hopefully they'll fit the extractor and make it right. Now I just have to wait, not too long I hope! Thanks Jim
  3. Thanks alot! I tried the search function but didn't see this thread. I'm not sure what goes into "fitting", I'll have to read up on it. Thanks, Jim
  4. I've recently started having some extraction issues on my Pro. This hasn't happened during a match (thankfully) only during practice sessions. I have approx 2000 rounds through the gun. About 2-3 times in 100 rounds the casing won't extract and another round is being feed in behind it. I have to lock the slide back, drop the mag, and rack. I've contacted S&W and they are sending me a shipping label to get it back to them. They told me this isn't a problem that they have seen. So my question to the experts here, has anyone else seen this and any fixes (extractor, guide rod/spring change, etc.) or should I send it back. My only hesitance to sending it back is I'll be out of the matches for a few weeks (just got into this so I'm kinda ate up with it!) Thanks, Jim PS-I received Brian's book and Matt's volume 1-3 Saturday and they're great for some one just getting started in competition!
  5. Thanks Spanky (BS?). I'd like to get into the other matches sometime soon. Gaining some good experience at Nick's to start. Jim
  6. Thanks for the invite but I'm working this weekend. Jim
  7. Thanks for the quick replies. I'm planning on getting set-up with Dillon equipment this month and was wondering how all this worked. I have a friend who uses a the same gun in Production that loaded up some rounds for me to try and they felt alot softer and seemed to group better than the WWB I've been using. I guess the only way to see the difference for sure is to try the handloads with the stock set-up and aftermarket parts? Any other suggestions to a newbie are appreciated! I'm pretty new to competitive shooting, but can already see there's alot to learn/clutter your head! Thanks Jim
  8. I've read on posts here about changing out the guide rod and springs on the S&W M&P Pro 9mm and my newbie question is why? I can understand needing it to go to a lighter spring, but I've read some say to stay with the stock spring pressure. So what advantage does..... 1)changing the guide rod and going to a 13# spring? 2)changing the guide rod and keeping the stock spring pressure (15# IIRC) have? Thanks for any help, Jim
  9. Hello all. I'm Jim and I'm from just outside of Baton Rouge, LA. I've always enjoyed shooting but just recently got involved in shooting matches at my local range (I've shot in 4 matches so far that are held weekly). I've definately caught the bug and its like some have told me "be careful, its like crack cocaine". Well, I'm ready for my next hit! I now have the time to dedicate to practice and improve my shooting, and enjoy searching through this site to gain a little knowledge. I'd like to get involved in different matches soon (IDPA, IPSC, etc). I'm currently shooting a S&W M&P Pro 9mm and have no complaints so far! I'm also planning on buying all the reloading equipment this month for 9mm and 45 to start, I was just looking through the packages on the Dillon equipment a few minutes ago on this site. I shot some reloads in my Pro that another Pro owner shoots and immediately saw a difference in accuracy and getting back on target quickly. I now see that reloading is not just about saving money/shooting more! Thanks and stay safe, Jim
