  1. Want to get my three daughters a starter rifle each. Anyone have an idea or review of the Ruger 10/22 or the Mossberg Plinkster. I have a little history with the Ruger but none with the Mossberg. I believe the Ruger is more adaptable later on and could be upgraded in the future. Prices are comparable, Mossberg a bit cheaper. I want a reliable rifle and one they can have fun with. My daughters ages are: 20,16 and 12. Any input would be appreciated.....Thanks....Teemch5

  2. Any thoughts on using transmission oil to lubricate the bolt carrier on a AR-15.

One of the range officers suggested that to me while I was using my new AR-15 and it was short stroking.

Of course the reason it was short stroking was because the piston setting was set for suppressed not normal operation.

Still want to know if transmission oil is suitable for gun lube.

    Thanks....TEEMCH5

  3. I was wondering what the best way to set up an AR-15 for multi scopes. Is it wise to have a red dot and magnification scope on the rifle at the same time? If so, how do you other shooters go about attaching the seperate scopes to the rails in order to keep each out of the way of the other.

Would a scope mount that flips out of the way work, or is it best to use angled rails to offset the second scope?

Could use the help on this issue.

    Thanks....TEEMCH5

  4. All you have to do is just drill a couple of holes in the back.

I've used the TT's and the Bladetech attachments:

If you don't want to modify the Choates you can cut up a thick web belt(or whatever) and mount the holders to the stip of belt. Then you would need to fashion something to attach that strip of belt onto the molle connections.

You could have "panels" of shell holders that you can attach to your belt, drop down, vest, etc.

If you want a store-bought panel mount, Blackhawk makes them:

Personally I currently use the Blade-Tech attachments. I attach one of the attachments in the middle. It's not as sturdy as using two. But it's good enough for me.

The TT's are IMHO more secure. But they are harder to put on and off the vest/belt/etc.

Thanks for the information, I think you saved my bacon on this problem. Will give it a go. Also thanks for the links, they made my life easier.....Teemch5

  5. Any body figure out how to attach the choate shotshell carrier to a molle drop leg platform.

Do I need to fabricate a suitable backing for the choate in order to attach it to the vertical loops on the molle?

Molle speed strips can be used.

If I can't figure this out my whole plan goes down to crapper.

    Thanks....TEEMCH%

  6. Really like the pof recon, piston system. Anybody out there with any experience with these rifles or POF in general. They are a bit pricey, but are they worth it. Would love some imput.

Another question... can a 22lr conversion be used on a piston system rifle?

    Thanks,,,,TEEMCH5

  8. Hi to all, this is teemch5, a new member and I was looking for some imput on a scope for my AR-15. Don't want to spend alot of money on the thing but want something that is of good quality and reliable and does the job. Want to shoot some multi-gun matches and figure I'll need a scope for some distance shooting and maybe one for quick targeting. Is it possible to get both in one unit or am I pissing up a rope?

Thanks in advance for the info...Teemch5
