  1. Howdy all. So, I'm not really sure how effective this is as a visual trainer, but at the very least it might help get you through a long grind at the office. Careful, this gets addictive. Post your results. I made it to 58.784 seconds, but haven't yet broken a minute! You Might Get Nervous 2
  2. A few days ago as my dryfire session came to a close I ended up breaking my normal routine. I had planned on doing a few sets of push ups after I was finished dryfiring which is a pretty normal morning for me, but I usually take off my rig and set everything aside before I start into my physical training. I really don't know if it was laziness or forgetfulness, but I found myself doing my first set of push ups to failure with my full rig still on. Right after the set (I'm guessing just because it was convenient) I started into a string of freestyle draws. I immediately noticed that to get the gun to do what I wanted it to do with the pump from the push ups, my focus had to increase ten-fold. Hitting the same point on the target every time was almost painful. I liked the challenge, so I started into another set to failure and when I got back up threw a few strings of reloads. Same deal, different mechanics. Without extreme focus, I found myself banging the feed lips on the edge of the magwell. Anyway, here I am a couple days later and I honestly feel like my fundamentals have improved. My draws seem faster and more accurate and I'm getting that perfect "swish" on my reloads more consistently when I'm pushing the envelope speed-wise. My best theory is that the drill teaches you to focus on what's most important/necessary to get the task done. Anyone else at all do this? Maybe something different to try at the very least?
  3. Howdy there. I have the same dilemma. I'd say my favorite drill is a bill drill at 10yds, 15yds, and 25yds taping in between. Kind of like a modified version of the Max Michel triple six drill. Probably less productive, but hey, you've gotta run with what you've got. Other than that I do a lot of 2-reload-2 and failure to stop. I use a classic black B-27 with a piece of white paper 6"x11" taped to the chest and a 3x5 card taped to the head. Every once in a while, I'll fold the B27 in half upward and tape up two 1/3 scale targets (like this one, http://www.tgscom.com/images/sharedimages/GlockFAQ/ipsc.pdf) at the opposite edges of the folded B-27. I feel like the tiny A-zones sharpen my front sight focus, plus, you've got a small transition to play with. Hope this helps. Keep on keepin' on.
  4. I give myself two days off the heavy grip strength stuff leading up to the match. Going into a match with your grip strength shot is a bad feeling. I learned that the hard way.
  5. I'm with all the Sharpie guys. I became more accurate with the stock Novaks on my M&P after blacking out the huge white dots.
  6. Howdy there. Is it well lubricated? It seems any time I've ever had a problem with an airsoft gun, the answer was to spray some silicone lube on it. Hope this helps!
  7. .1568s average. Caught a sheep at 0.000
  8. Hmmmmn, something seems off here. 4.4grs of Clays should fill a .40 S&W case near 3/4 of the way up if not a touch more. I'm imagining it would be impossible to seat a 200gr bullet to SAAMI lengths. That is if it's just straight "Clays" you're talking about?
  9. Good deal, so what do you guys think about bringing the gun down a little closer to the mag to pull the points of focus closer together? Is it worth it at all or should I be practicing to keep the gun at eye level for my table reloads as well? So HotRod, are you saying to use my peripheral vision to locate my mag rather than completely snapping my vision down to it?
  10. I have come to the realization that my reloads taken from tables or shelves (ie: Mini Mart) could use some polishing so, I've recently been working more of it into my dryfire sessions. I've noticed the focus can be broken down a couple different ways. I practiced focusing on the magwell just as I would in a normal speed reload and trying to remember where I set the magazine, but found it difficult to get a consistent index on the mag. Out of the question. I practiced quickly transitioning my focus from sights to the magazine on the table and back up to the magwell with the gun still at eye level, but found my hand gets to the magwell before my eyes. And finally, I practiced bringing the gun down closer to the mag on the table for the reload bringing the points of focus closer together. I found this to be the quickest way to get consistently smooth reloads done, but it also brings the gun further off target. Maybe it's a good compromise? What I'm hoping to get out of this thread is just to see how all you experienced fellas break down your focus, what you all think about what I've been practicing, and any other tips you think would help me polish the skill. Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks a lot for the data guys. I figure the 124gr and 130gr loads should make a good start load for the 115gr's. I did take a look at the Hodgdon data, but 1.169" seems like an extreme OAL. I know it's SAAMI spec for the 9mm, but surely it won't cycle a factory pistol. Will it? Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm most comfortable loading .40 S&W for my M&P and it just seems odd. If anyone out there has 115gr data, it would be greatly appreciated. When I first loaded 9mm it was with FMJ's and Titegroup and Titegroup just didn't work out when I changed to moly's so now i'm in the process of changing powders. Thanks again!
  12. Does anybody have a WSF load with 115gr moly coated bullets? I've poured over the search pages, but can't find much on the exact combination. Anyone?
