  1. Ditch the gimmick of the chair... what's the point, other than to see who can get up the quickest? Start behind the door if you must, but why even have the door? Just put a wall there and make the shooter go around. Try not to make the stages too "complicated" just to make them move. If you want movement, use the opportunities to make them shoot while moving, not just run across the shooting area from point to point.

  2. Hey y'all...

Looking for a 1st Sunday (June 5) or midweek USPSA or steel match somewhere near the Myrtle Beach/Garden City area. I've tried the USPSA site, Area 6, and even the SC section calendar. There is no active link/site for the Coastal Practical Shooting Assoc, so not sure when/where their listed match is located.

Any info would be much appreciated.

  3. I was in the process of setting up the stages to generate score sheets for our match tomorrow and received this error trying to preview the sheet after saving the scoring hits:

    Powerbuilder Application Execution Error (R0039)

Error accessing external object property hitboxes at line 8 in function clicked of object cb_new of w_scoreheets.

EZWin auto closes once the error has been acknowledged.

The program worked flawlessly earlier this month for our regular match, I've never had this error before in setting up score sheets.

    Any ideas?

  4. I am wondering if competitors can shoot with staff on Thursday?

I have tried sending email through the A5 site but my mail keeps coming back undeliverable.

I would like to shoot this match but my work schedule only allows me to do it on thursday

    thanks

The Thursday competitor squads 109 thru 112 have 39 slots open...

  5. ....since we'll probably be shooting the dark house at Area 5.

I'll start the drift... A5 will be my first "major" match, and I've never shot in a dark house. What should I expect? Will my 15" Maglite be too much to bring along? ;)

  6. I've attempted to clear my DNS cache w/ no success. I'm running Vista... any other suggestions?

I need to upload the classifier report again as our transaction didn't survive.

    1. First, confirm your system still resolves to the old address:

    nslookup uspsa.org

If you see 209.62.63.82 you're resolving to the old address; if you see 209.62.63.83 you're resolving to the new address

    2. Open a command window (assuming you are on a windows machine)

    3. cd %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc

    4. "notepad hosts" to edit the "hosts" file. Add these lines:

    209.62.63.83 uspsa.org

    209.62.63.83 www.uspsa.org

You have now set your system up to manually translate the USPSA web address to that of the new server.

Since this address will change in the future when we move to a new server (part of a reliability/recovery improvement plan scheduled for next winter), you should remove it in a week or so, otherwise you will forget about it and won't be able to find USPSA.ORG the next time the address changes.

Patience ;) ...I'm sure Rob is working the issue.

DNS propogation always takes a bit time, and not everyone sees the update at the same time due to the cached nature of the data.

Also, I have a self-signed certificate temporarily installed, so please ignore the warnings about the certificate - I will have a properly signed one up shortly.

I have learned a number of things during this restore process (which was rebuilding the entire server from scratch using backups) and will be making some improvements that should help if we have another total outage.

Rolling back a day on the data sucks, but it could have sucked a whole lot more :).

Not really sure what happened to my original post, seems I'm quoting myself?

Is this something that will resolve in time? Or must a cache flush actually occur?

  8. Thanks. That seems like a good reason to shut it down for a while.

I would guess that *all* of the match and squadding information is in a single database which means that restoring a backup would undo squadding in other matches that have been scheduled since 5/7.

    Squadding has been unlocked...

    Dear ,

The following message is being sent to you by the match squadding

administration for the 2011 Area 5 Championship.

To All Area 5 Championship Shooters,

Thank You for being patient with us while we try to sort out the issues created by the USPSA server crash.

When they came back online it was with the latest backup they had! We have pieced squads back together through email messages as best that we can at this time.

Presently I have 2 slots reserved on squad 301 and 1 slot on squad 406. I am going to leave it like that for a couple of days so everyone affected has the opportunity to respond. From what we can tell squad 305 is back where it should be. Starting times were put back to where they should be as well. I am going to unlock the system to everything except the 3 slots mentioned above. If need be contact me at: dhayen@tcgc.net

  9. The USPSA site is running again, but the A5 squadding is locked. Also the start times have been changed to 0700, is this correct?

Nevermind... hadn't read my email explaining why it's locked.

What did the e-mail say? I just signed up today and need to get squadded.

    Dear ,

The following message is being sent to you by the match squadding

administration for the 2011 Area 5 Championship.

To all Area 5 Championship shooters,

I\'m not sure how many of you know that the USPSA website was down for a couple of days. I just checked it\'s status and found it to be back in operation. After uploading competitors for the last couple of days I found that there may be some issues with squadding particularly on squad 305. Every Saturday slot was full before the system went down. There is now 2 slots open on 305. I am going to reserve those slots for a few days until the people originally squadded there have the opportunity to contact me to get back on that squad. If I don\'t hear from those people by Friday I will open them back up to everyone. Please contact me at dhayen@tcgc.net.

    Regards,

    Dale

administration for the 2011 Area 5 Championship.

To All Area 5 Championship Shooters,

Since my last email notification I have been contacted by a couple of shooters that seem to have been bumped out of slots they had secured before USPSA\'s website malfunction. I have locked the system down until we can see if USPSA has a backup of the data as of 5/7/2011. If USPSA cannot supply a backup, I am going to ask anyone who was able to squad themselves on Saturday or Sunday, especially those on a Saturday squad to please contact me and allow me the opportunity put the people displaced by the crash back where they belong.

  10. We have daily backups, and are seeing if we can get the raid array to come up for a bit to extract the current data -

When was the last time the backup was performed? Just curious as I uploaded classifier scores ~1600 CDT yesterday, and wondering if I may have to do it again?
