  2. We are still accepting late registrations and walk-ons. There will be no competitor t-shirts nor lunches available for these shooters. http://www.blackhawkpistol.org/2012-iowa-sectional http://www.USPSA.org/squadding/index.php?action=list&indx=225 For more information email me: stats@blackhawkpistol.org
  3. Thanks jc! Exactly what I was looking for... that is how I exported my master db into PS: copied the registration.txt file into Dropbox, exported that to my sdcard, then grabbed it with the PS sync. Just couldn't figure out that I needed to have a separate directory from the EZ match info window for the current match registration. It makes sense now... I think.
  4. Sorry, Bill, I may have not been clear... I want to export my registation from EZWS to Practiscore. I know that's not the preferred method, but I'd like to try all the options. I was able to export my master db from EZ to PS, but haven't been able to accomplish the same for a specific match. I'd also like to export a current match, the stage definitions, (not yet scored) from EZ to PS (the .psc file) but cannot locate any such file.
  5. Which function generates the PSS.txt file for match registration export to Practiscore? Are you renaming a registration.txt file? How does the Match Import work with a .psc file, and where do I find it?
  6. We have opened a limited number of slots to shoot on Friday afternoon, beginning @ 1 p.m. There will be no lunches available for this day, as we had originally planned it as the staff shoot day. So if you cannot make the weekend, but would like to shoot a Level II USPSA match send in your registration as soon as possible!
  7. This is not exactly true. If you sync or download match from practiscore web site, you can actually go to your own scoring page and see per-target hits. ... Or if you're like the latest breed of competitors coming along who have their own android devices with practiscore on them, you can just grab a copy of the stage timer data without even asking (assuming wifi is available and they don't have it locked down) and get your own copy of what you shot. Leaving the wifi open to shooters to upload the data seems very risky, there is no way to keep shooters from changing scores. If they can sync to get the scores, they can sync again once stuff has been "edited". I'd hope "shooter's code" would apply, but it's gonna happen if the wifi is not protected.
  8. Have you tried the standard Word format? You can modify for any type of stage, # of targets & steel. Once you have them complete with each as a separate page, set your printer to print multiple pages. You can easily fit 4 stages (i.e. pages) per side of regular 8.5 x 11 sheets.
  9. Sunday squads are half full, plenty open on Saturday. Level II trophy match that is inexpensive, but quality stages! http://www.blackhawkpistol.org/2012-iowa-sectional
  10. For our local matches the range we use has 4 bays to work with of varying sizes. We strive to make each bay from 28-32 rounds each for continuity, total round count near 125 seems to work best. In a larger bay we may have a 12 round & 16 round stage for variation, two 30-32 round field courses that can fit in our medium bays, and a classifier with another smaller stage. Our matches are usually 5-7 stages, round count 125ish, start @ 0900, usually done by 1300. If the bays are similar round count, and the squads have been split near equally they should move along at about the same pace. This unless one stage has activating props, or Tx star, or plate rack, etc...

  12. We've used a camping cot... it was a bit awkward for our larger shooters & those with back problems. Almost an unfair competitive advantage really. It's one of those things that's been tried, and I'd prefer never to see it again as it has nothing to do with DVC.
  13. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. Rush lyrics?
  14. Find as much video of Jerry Miculek as you can.... watch, rinse, repeat.
  15. Nice price, but apparently the MIPS processor is a major bottleneck making it a slow device. Slow for what application though?... sure running streaming audio/video, or wifi browsing perhaps, but if only running Practiscore shouldn't slow it down too much. CNET gave it 3/5 stars, downgrading mostly on poor screen resolution and bulky for a 7" tablet.
  16. So what's the angle on this info? < 180° hopefully.
  17. I would prefer to see the procedural box on the targets page, as the total is usually not known until scoring is complete.
  18. I've not personally tried them, but I've always been curious and have tried to read as many reviews whenever possible. The comments that stands out for me is that the devices themselves are fast, and the screens and touch UI work well, but they also have a common pattern of poor battery life. With these less well-known brands having integrated batteries, even if I were to risk doing my own servicing to replace worn out Lithium ion batteries, I'm not sure if I'd be able no source the components. Or should I just make the assumption that by the time these devices start having only 2 hour battery lives, newer and cheaper devices will be available? With the bigger named Nooks and Kindle's I am gambling that there will be a bigger chance of getting replacement batteries because of their wider market reach. Battery life is the main concern. My Archos 101 will run streaming video (think Netflix/HBOGo) for 6-7 hours no problem. I think that even these inexpensive versions would run a single application all day. I am unclear if battery life is affected by the device trying to search for the wi-fi if not in range, but the user can always turn that function off until time to send results to the main user. I have read mixed reviews about viewing in full sunlight, especially with the layered resistive screens. Again, battery life would be the concern with the brightness at maximum so it can be read.
  19. If you allow competitors to sync to the stage/squad device what is stopping them from changing scores? Synching is one-way. Then how do scores get updated to the "mother" device to calculate the match? I guess if the wi-fi is not active a shooter with the app on a personal phone couldn't get access, but that defeats the purpose of being able upload results to the main device.
  20. If you allow competitors to sync to the stage/squad device what is stopping them from changing scores?
  21. Has anyone tried a cheap 7" Android based tablet, most run Google Android 2.2? I can find several for $55-70. No need to root, easy enough to get the Practiscore app. I have a 10.1" Archos that it works wonderfully on, but it's a bit large to make it useful for squad/stage scoring. Most are resistive touch screens, a stylus would be necessary I assume.
