I am new to ICORE, and our club just got it's affiliation, way up here in the great white north. ( Toronto, Canada ).
I have shot IPSC/USPSA for 28 years, then on to Action Pistol, and now to add to my fun ICORE.
I bought a 686 Performance Centre 4 years ago, just cause it looked cool and felt great in my big hands. O ya I'm left handed to boot.
No mater what the rules, any time you can put rounds down range is good for me, it's about fun and a way to relax, if I can shoot well I'm happy.
6 / 7 / 8 / does not really matter, it's all about the X.
I hope to meet some of you in the future at matches, if all goes well I might attend a few matches in the Eastern US this year.

Thank you for the invite, what club are you with? I will rejoin USPSA in the next few days. I compete in Action Pistol in Pa / VA / MI, so NC should not be to much more driving to get to.
I will need to read up on the revolver rules for USPSA as one of my 2 Revolvers ( Performance Centre ) can meet all the requirements for ICORE, in all 3 categories, just a few alterations and it's good to go, all loads are minor, but not sure if it meets the rules for USPSA.
As to the Snow / Cold / Rain, I sent it down because after nearly 8 weeks of the crap we have had enough. Please enjoy it, we didn't. December 21 at midnight we lost power for 70 hours, it cast me a lot, had to by a Honda 3000 for power to keep the house warm, and my wife from freezing solid.
Let me know if you can as to you match schedule for the year, or a place to find it.
This year the World shoot and the Bianchi for Action Pistol are out for me, can't take that much time from my wife or work, I'm the boss, no work no pay.
I will make 4 AP matches this year, and would like to try a few Revolver/ICORE/USPSA matches if time can be made.

Morning Russell, we are Zombie Shooters Association, and our ZSA matches are coast to coast in the US. We are very close to getting one in the Philippines and would love to get a venue in Canada. Our USPSA club is NC29 Zombie Shooters Association/USPSA and we are adding our club as a Steel Challenge club as well this month. Plenty of ways to shoot REVO!!! The evolution of revolver division has included 8 shot revolvers. It started out as just a special category way back when. Then we became our own division. Now I know you say the 27 8 shot owners in jest. But I believe you won't see many 625's around after the two year window has closed. I wasn't too keen in the idea myself but the realization that its going to help the division in the long run outweighs the few hold outs that are going to quit because of the change. Maybe not only will we have more revo shooters in uspsa it will spark growth in ICORE. Just maybe.
Thanks for taking this in the manner I posted, sarcastic jest, I love REVO Chris and hope it grows, no matter which direction it grows in. I love the shooting sports and the shooters, even Mike!!! I even have a few good cigars for Mike next time I have the pleasure to shoot with him. Love me or hate me, I don't care, I do love the shooting sports and will do my best to help them grow.
Awesome--I am definitely planning to take you up on those cigars, John--first round of beers is on me!
Just Diet Coke or coffee for me Mike, I'll enjoy a good cigar or 2 with you my friend, but as annoying as I am, you don't want to add beer to the equation, Cliff will handle my share of the brew, this is a team effort!!

First of all, I do understand that this post was made very ""tongue in cheek", but I will make a serious comment on it nonetheless.
By starting this conversation so soon after getting 8 shot minor passed, we are really perpetuating the "give em and inch...." philosophy. Lets party with the new rules and leave the rest alone. There is a place for 8 shot dot revo. It's ICORE. If you don't have an ICORE club near you, start one.
If you want to shoot revo, you are basically only shooting against other revo shooters, and if you want to shoot a dot revo, you are only shooting against the other dot revos. You can do that now. If you want to shoot a dot revo and see how many other shooters you can beat, you can do that now. Further dividing a small group will do more harm than good in my opinion.

Good, this is heading in the "lighten up" direction I was hoping it would!!!! Are you saying LEO's and those slime ball, bottom feeding, criminal loving attorney types can't sit down for a good few verses of "Kumbya" (not sure of the spelling on that) and no, not all that are attorney types are like that!!! Just keeping the pot stirred.

Mike, no worries from me my REVO Brother, I understand your views, and respect them. I also would like to see more revo shooters. As someone who started his own shooting sport and started and runs a USPSA club, teaches shooting for a living (a meager one at that) and even helps out for large IDPA matches (which I do for the shooters, not for a sport I disdain), I just feel that my opinion has a bit of merit. There are many on these forums that hide behind screen names and just troll along with fear of saying the wrong thing. That ain't me. I agree that everyone gives it a fair chance, but look at all the plain regular folks that may want to shoot a GP100 with speedloaders or someone taking Grandpa's old police issued model 10 out for fun at a match. With 8 shot guns there, they have NO CHANCE. To open the door for 20, while closing it for 100's, does not good sense to me make!!!

The 6 vs 8 thing has obviously touched a few nerves. I propose, while everyone is being all "open minded" and "inclusive" to the 27 owners of 8 shot revos in the Country, that we take it a tad further. I say we allow .500 S&W Mags in the mix, yes they are only 5 shot, but we can say that any revo with a power factor of 400 or more, only has to hit each target with 1 shot and it counts as 2 hits (more than double Major, so why not, seems "fair"). How cool would that be, you have a makeup shot in every 4 target array!!! Before you bash me Mike, it's the same thinking as the 8 minor, just the opposite direction. And S&W can even stamp a few guns with Pro and put custom grips with initials on them and all will be good. Just a pre coffee thought, good day to all.

Mike, you are a good shooter and a nice guy, I take nothing personal, but my OPINION is that this 8 shot thing is BS, pure and simple bovine excrement. As others have stated, this is a forum, a place for different ideas and views.

You are correct, my point was fun or not, the 8 shot was about 12% increase in overall hit factor, it has changed what REVO was all about

Went last year, not going this year. I love shooting REVO, always have, that's about all I shoot in USPSA. My views on 6 vs. 8 are just my humble opinion, but I think it was a bad idea, to fix a problem that did not exist, we had to "pass it to see what's in it" mind set, again in my opinion. My match yesterday, was set up with 1 stage having 24 rounds, 3 -8 shot arrays, 1 less reload,,, 1 Stage with 26 rounds, 1 less reload,,,, a 7 shot stage, NO RELOAD, an 8 shot stage, NO RELOAD,, a 32 round field course with 4 - 8 shot arrays, 2 less reloads and the classifier was 3- 6 shot strings, no advantage. Bottom line, it was absolutely NO FREAKIN' FUN shooting it with 8 rounds. Yes, my hit factors were way above my average for a basic match,, 6 less reloads,,, 12-15 seconds off total match time or more. No cool REVO stage plan, just hit the arrays and go. Sorry guys, bash me if you want, the 8 shot is a great gun, but I will use it in ZSA 8 Division every so often, never at USPSA REVO. Best of luck to all my friends from REVO world at Nationals this year, I'll save the 16 hour drive.

This is ridiculous, all this to accommodate maybe 15 Revo shooters in the country? Wtf
Trust me, not all regular REVO shooters wanted this at all, my humble opinion is that this is BS, and all I shoot in USPSA is REVO, we are a small happy group, we don't bother anyone.

NO question, but the video show what a lack of real rules looks like. That way of shooting the stage was technically perfectly legal.
I loved the video. Ben is an amazing shooter, he probably would have left everyone in the dust even if he had shot the stage the way it was intended.Yep, if you don't like games with rules, it's best to move on from IDPA. Then you too can do stuff like this...
No offense to Ben intended at all...very creative.
I disagree with that assessment. The game has rules. The shooter followed those rules. Just because the game doesn't tell the shooter what to do every step of the way isn't the same thing as "a lack of real rules." Stage designers present a challenge. It is the shooters job to come up with the best way to solve the challenge.

Up for comment and consideration,,,, I've been thinking about what everyone has stated, and how does this sound to everyone???
We have 8 Areas in USPSA.
Every year, each Area is to submit 1 stage to HQ.
Those stages are posted, and every club can access them.
Every club around the Country can host a "Postal Classifier" match once or twice per year, with those 8 stages.
ALL scores go into USPSA and we get a growing list of data.
Each Section can host all 8 stages for a yearly match.
Each Area can do the same.
We set up a Nationals with the same stages.
Make the 8 stages a good blend of short, medium and long course.
Everyone shoots regular match type stages, not just classifiers, and at the end, we all shoot the same against EVERYONE in USPSA, use your match score as a classifier.
I know this might be alot of admin, but with all the computers today, should not be that hard.
Every year may be tough, maybe every 2 or 3 years this system can be run.
Let's face it, many of us may be classed above/below our actual skill level. I can go make "GM" in revo (currently a "M")(( really only on paper)) but will always only come in around a strong "A" finish against the greats like Jerry, Cliff, Matt, Josh etc.
Keep the current system as "classed" but also maybe have an "Earned" system,,, paper "A" class and EARNED "B" class or whatever.
Just a thought, any feedback??

Sounds good in theory, but what if you shoot an AREA match as say an "A" class, and there is only 1 "M" and 1 "GM" in your Division (it could happen) and they both tank a stage or 2 for whatever reason. You now make "GM" due to a bad match for a few other shooters that really are "better" than you. We all know ANY classification system is not perfect, but everyone trying to come up with a better one can't hurt.

One of my clubs was asking about the new rules for revolver, and I wanted to confirm the date of the change. I believe it is 2/1/2014, but looking through the BOD minutes I don't see anything that lists the specific date. Is it published somewhere on the USPSA web site?
Also, is the new wording for Appendix D6 available anywhere? Right now the only thing I can point them to is some threads here on the Enos forums.
