  1. No, the M&P uses a differnt cut than most Novak sights. The sights may be the same as Smith and Wessons 1911's, though I havent been able to confirm this. From what I've read Hienie and Scott Warren are working on replacements but I dont know when they will be availible. I really want to get my hands on the Warren sights for my M&Ps.

  2. I've been weating the Bates M6 for about 7 months now, love em. They have good ankle support and fit well. I use them for just about everything Shooting, Jeeping, Yard work you name it. I usually wear boots out in about 6 mos but theese are still in really good shape. L.A. police gear stocks them for about $90.00. I will be ordering another set to keep on hand.

  3. Heinie's website shows the 3d (3 Dot) sights as coming out for the M&P. I eyeballed a Smith & Wesson 1911 at the gunstore the other day, the sights looked to be the same as the M&P's but I haven't been able to confirm that yet.

  4. I just got back from putting 155 rounds through mine, I really like it. No malfunctions very accurate. The only things that I dont like are the sights. Why Smith and Wesson put large dots on the rear sight and a smaller one up front has me baffled. They also painted the rear end of the recoil spring with blue paint. I just loved cleaning the blue paint out of the frame. Hopefully I can remedy the sight problem with Heinies from the S&W 1911 series, the blue paint problem ought to dissaper with more shooting. I would have put another 100 rounds or so through it but had to leave as the kids get out of school early today. I also tried the medium and large backstrap and found that I prefer the large one. With the medium grip the pistol kept moving in my hand, put on the large grip and problem solved. I really like this pistol and after I track down a couple of mags and a holster will give it a try in production.

  5. Question for Mr Sweeney, in your article in Front sight you stated that the M&P had standard dovetail cuts for the Novak sights. Are theese the same dimensions as the sights on Smith & Wessons 1911 line. I am wondering if a set of Heinie Slant pros for the Smith & Wesson 1911's would work on the M&P. Excellent article buy the way, so good infact I had to run out and buy one :D . I wont be able to run through its paces untill Thursday but just playing with it I'm really liking it.

  6. Barsto website is www.barsto.com. I dont think there is a picture of it up yet. I believe there was a photo of it on the hs2000-XD forum. I'll see if I can find it.

edited to add if you go to the hs2000-xd forums look in the general xd discussion section there is a topic-- any word on the barsto trigger? on page 6 or 7 there are a couple of pictures of it. The whole thread has good info on some of the things Barsto is doing. I tried to figure out how to link to the thread but didnt have any luck Sorry.

  7. I have several Wilson 10rd mags about a year old and the little stop on the front of the mag have broken the tab. The flat piece on the front is still on the mag. The leg that is supposed to bottom on the frame is what has broken. I know that Wilson will replace the mag, I am just wondering if anyone else has observed this? Theese are the newer rounded type follower and are havent been used very much.

  8. I looked at one at the SHOT show it looked pretty good. I saw something on it on one of the forums (of course I cant find it now) and as I recall it was more in the 2000 range. If so I think S.A. might have priced it out of contention as an STI Edge can be had for less. I could be off on the price or maybe the guy who posted on it was wrong, so its very possible that price is completley wrong.

  9. SuperComp9 I looked at that Hi-power at the Shot Show (or maybe one very similar) this year, and talked to Don about it a little. Don said he used a factory hammer and modified it. He had a couple of really nice Hi-powers on display. Dons website is www.theactionworks.com he is a really good guy. I've been using him for over 10 years and cant say enough good things about him.

  10. Don Williams at the Action Works does excellent work on High Powers. I have shot a Hi Power exstensivley that Don built sveral years ago that has been excellent. Don also does great work on 1911's I just got back from shooting one I recieved yesterday that was absolutley top notch.

  11. My buddy shot a Hi-power for a couple of years, without any problems but I would guess it only had about 5,000 rounds through it before he switched to a 1911 for IPSC. His Hi-power was built by Don at the Action Works and it has been a great little pistol. My buddy loves the HI-power, has 6 of them including one by Novak and a couple others sent to other smiths. I will say the one Don built is every bit as nice as the one by Novak. (I prefer the Action Works pistol he dosent care either way) I dont say this to put down the Novak pistol in any way (Its a fantastic pistol) just to let you know what a great pistol Don makes. I think youll be happy.

  12. Does any body have Hienie Slant Pros on their XD? If you do are they fairly tall? I was watching the Shooting USA episode with the Production Nationals and they showed someone shooting an XD and the sights looked fairly tall. The few pictures I have seen on the internet make the sights look fairly low. I really dont care (I'm going to get a set on my XD ) I was just curious.

  13. I prfer the Trijicons which Hienies have. I have have found the PT (IWI) night sights to be less bright and dim out quite a bit faster than the Trijicon sights. I also find the Hienie sights to be my personal favorite for just about everything.

  14. The Front Sight article by Bruce Gray is in the Jan/Feb 2004 issue. Blackdragon (Ivan) does very well with his XD, the trigger on his XD is pretty sweet. I bought an XD a couple months back to get my daughter shooting, but I like it so much I think I'm gonna have to get another one and maybe try production class.

  15. I just bought a Springfield XD-9 for my daughters 13 and 8 years old. Neither have any problems with grip size or length of pull. I really like the XD and if either decides she really wants to shoot seriously, then I will upgrade to a 1911 for them. The XD has a lot going for it Ergonomic, inexpensive, and a really nice little pistol.

  16. Thanks Shred I just blew coffee all over my monitor  . Thats to funny. I do find it amusing how the super tactical ultimate shooting style guys  show up to 1 match get SPANKED and then leave (complaning the whole way out that its just a game and not relevant to the real world) and never return. I have met a couple of guys who showed up to a match and actually decided they could learn something and improved their shooting. They unfortunately are the minority.
