  1. yo, it's dave moss, cliff's friend(?)...we've done the iowa SS/Revo thing a couple of times.... anyways, i think a DPMS flat top carbine kit with a LMT SOPMOD stock would work good, and be cheap. of all the collapsibles, i really like that one, great cheek weld. i know you would get the dealio from dmps, so... put a aimpoint or something similar and go to town. i've seen that trijucon has come out with a new reflex sight that looks pretty cool, all passive, no batteries. i might try one of those. you could change it back to the carry-handle w/irons to teach him that too. real light gun, get it w/ the pencil barrel. mine's a SP-1 style, don't think it weighs 6 lbs. now, i wouldn't count on the 375yd. 8" steel shot with it, but it'll work fine for inside of 200 w/ 55 grainers. haven't tried anything heavier in mine, but it's 1-9", so 62, maybe 69's might work. get a miculek comp too. there's a million other combinations, and you really can't have it all in one, you dig? i personally like 20" HBAR's, but i ain't 12. well, parts of me......(i had to do that!) and get a JP trigger, and that gun would rock. i know you guys are pretty mechanical, and putting an AR together ain't rocket science. see you next year......cliff's been talking about the 6-point star he's getting from you. gotta see if i can beat him on it......

  2. the one i got is called "Ganas"....it's got "plastico" on it. i think it's like some cheapo compilation, greatest hits thing. my buddy had this list he used to get from someplace in N.J. that had all these discontinued, manufacturers sell outs. lotta one-off jazz stuff, i think that's where i got it....will look for "siembra". great shit though, he has great bands with him, great tunes, lyrics. now turn on MTV

  3. i never have a problem turning off the peanut gallery when i'm shooting, really don't hear them at all, if i don't want to. how you could hear them over the sound of any gun, open in particular, is beyond me. i think concentration is a big part of this sport, the zen thing and all. it does bother me alot if i see somebody pasting targets out of the corner of my eye, or an RO in the wrong place. have definitely seen that, even at big matches. that's definitely wrong.

  4. i gotta small 9x20 southbend style lathe. mounted a small grinding wheel on a 3/4" shaft between centers, and trued it, along with @ 1/2" of the sides. got a small palmgren mill vise on ebay. square it all up, put the barrel in the vise, and slowly grind and check. this works great, fits real square, and real fast. real easy to take a couple of thousanths off real square. my own contraption......

  5. check w/ ascap or bmi.......if you're a working musician, you really don't like others using your output w/ no compensation. especially the small guys. some landmark jazz recordings never sold 50,000 copies. but w/ the advent of computer downloads, it's pretty hard to police. my buddies used to get pissed about cassette tapes, now it's even easier. at least then somebody had to buy the real thing.......

  6. single stack rules!!! don't look back, learn how to shoot and don't go out and buy some $3000+ gun and think it'll make you better, cause' it won't. you think you gotta reload alot with a SS, you oughta try revolver......

  7. i dunno where you get your cases, but my LC cases have alot more internal volume than any others, including commercial- RP and Win.....looking on internet forums for specific reloading info ain't that great an idea......great way to blow your nose off....and that's my $.02

  8. yeah, you right! i was just talking shizzit when i said getting sued is no biggie. with what public opinion is about our hobby is, no way i would work on somebody's stuff w/o insurance. my buddy's wife has an insurance business, gotta ask her what type would be applicable, and how $$$? and we haven't even had any ATF horror stories yet...... insurance is just $$$$$, those guys w/ the shiny shoes got handcuffs!

  9. i've been dreaming about this, and the FFL thing is a problem. i dunno where you live, but here they want proof of business zoning, "suitable place of business" is their verbage. gotta have a place w/ business zoning, which means renting some kinda store front, shop, etc. which translates into mo' $$$$. i can't do it from my house, but i think you can in some municipalities, you just gotta find out. ain't done with the idea though.....

  10. well just back from the morning feeding, the little monster, ugh, i mean tyke, is sure a handful. really eats alot!!! i guess he got that from cliff. definitely can't let him have any beer! the potty thing is somewhat of a problem, though. i guess it's a plus that i clean carpets, but the smell, whew.....and i dunno if you've ever seen male monkeys in a group at the zoo??? they kinda have this "social sexual" thing.....he keeps doin' that in front of everybody! we need help on that one.....gotta go, will keep you all posted.......

  11. i'm sure S&W has thought of the torque thing when they crank them down. it's gotta change the values under the threads. wonder if they ream that forcing cone after to counter-act it? i've used JB Weld too, comes loose w/ just a little propane, put ar-15 comps on with it. gonna try all this soon, you guys gotta help.....

  12. one of the best things about the GAP cartridge is that the case capacity is much more copacetic to the 165pf than the ACP. less powder = less recoil, especially in a revolver where the whole mass of the gas column impinges directly on the breech face/frame, not having the reciprocating mass of a slide. if the $$$ for the brass and the inherent feeding problem wasn't such an issue, a .45 GAP single stack would be something......
