  1. i got another question.... been trying to fit the slide/frame today. the damn frame rail slot in the slide is pretty narrow, .740 or less. i got the front slide rails narrow to .745, and it's still galling bad, not even close yet. i'm about to call infinity and bitch. the rear frame rails are .753, as were the front ones, pretty much spec, as per the kuhnhausen book, this slide is maybe .015 less than minimum spec. am i getting too narrow for the frame rails? help me out.........

  2. this forum is cool!! you guys are fast..... i just get paranoid over thousanths when i start this stuff off, you dig? actually when i ordered the barrel, wil shuemann was talking 'lawyerese' if it wasn't approved, so i figured it would be good. pretty dumb rule anyway, so..... i'm threatening to start a '6" sight tracker blog' thread so everybody could gig me for all the stuff i'm doing wrong. have to take some pictures and get off my a$$..... thanks for the help......

  3. finally got all the stuff today, i'm gonna build one! i know, it ain't legal, blah, blah.... my question is, the barrel is .697, and the Infinity slide i just got is .703. is that too loose? i've built a couple of bushing guns, but this is my first bull barrel gun, and i don't know how tight to be? i'm thinking with the 6" it's gotta have some more room to lock down, but i have a 6" bushing gun that's tight, and it locks down fine, so...... i just got the slide today, frame yesterday, and now i've checked all the dimensions. this one kinda bothers me. help me out, y'all.....dave moss

  4. great thread....i'm just starting a 6" caspian, shuemann sight-tracker project, and maybe you guys can answer a question. first off, i know it's not supposed to be USPSA legal, but blah, blah, blah, blah.....that's what i think of that, so..... i want to use a 5" recoil spring/reverse plug. i see alot of guns with the spring tunnel cut back, like the one Matt shows. i guess there's no problems with support, and the thing moving around, impinging on the barrel during recoil/lock-down? that's my question.....anybody use that briley one with the ears? seems like it would locate everything better, but does it intefere with the barrel? y'all help me out, i'll buy beer sometime.........

  5. i dunno if you know this, but EBay is also a great place to buy endmills. i'm kinda new at this too, and endmills are freakin' EXPENSIVE. after shopping at MSC and ENCO, ebay is an incredible deal. you gotta surf a bit, but check it out.......

  6. Hey, that's really neat!! Great evidence supporting the fact that both reload styles can work equally well.

    Thanks, Pat!

P.S. I particularly like that the camera managed to pick up the smooth jazz combo that was performing on that stage. (That Larry Houck sure knows how to put on a classy match.....) ;)

    those guys weren't playing shizzit............

  7. use it on a single stage press along w/redding variable shell plate to control headspace very accurately, then onto the progressive. don't know how you can run it on a progressive, doesn't set headspace accurately, and if you are loading military brass w/crimped primers, best of luck. a 1050 to swages the pockets. does a 650 do this? maybe i'm wrong......

  8. Now that inexpensive AC motor drives (solid state speed controls) can accept 240 single phase and output 3 phase, all of the other phase converters are largely obsolete - it really is the way to go - and gives the great benefit of fine rpm control too.

i saw these when i was hooking up mine, now i kinda wished i had got one. the constant changing of the belts for speeds is somewhat of a pain. if i remember they were more expensive than a 3hp rotary. i'm not very electrical, just wonder how the motor gets enough a$$ when you go slow with big tools....... the later bridgeports do have the variable speed, but they have bigger motors too, is that why?

  9. if that's a 'J-Head', i think they are all 1hp 3 phase, unless somebody changed it. i gotta 'Gentec' rotary 3hp converter, they were the cheapest. they have a website. it's good quality. RTFI(read the f$#@ing instructions), i figured it out pretty easy, and i'm totally afraid of electricity......

  10. There has yet to be a 3-gun World Shoot. It was slated for next year, but the host contry had to drop it. Right now it is in limbo so we shall see, but it would have been darn hard for a Russian to have been second to Voigt at a shoot that never happened.

What you are thinking of is a Russian came second to Voigt at the Asian Shotgun championships in Bali a couple of years ago with a Molot 12 Ga. ( AK-47 12 GA. ) if you can call 73% a close second! KurtM

oops....my bad......i thought that was a 3-gun match. yet another example of never listening too seriously to forum blah, blah......

  11. it's a "J-Head", i think.....got the same one a couple of months ago, your's looks shinier(sp? that ain't right)not trying to one-up you either .......you're gonna have a great time with it..... just don't try to pick it up by yourself.... :roflol:

  12. i realize this is sacriledge, but if i could get a cheap source of reloadable brass, i betcha i could get an AK-47 to rock. surplus 7.72x39 is generally pretty skanky stuff. shot some pretty good groups, equal to or better than commercial .223 w/some winchester white box stuff that i got on a dealio, just hate to shoot it all up and lose the brass at matches, so it just sits there. i have a VEPR that's really a nice gun.

Why are you saving the ammo? Zombies? Most of those shots will be under 200yds anyway :surprise: ... get out there with the "Good Stuff" and I'll help you pick up the brass :roflol: ! Something different to stir up the pot at the local 3-gun and rifle matches... BTW did you ever find some boots to fit those feet of yours?

    d.c.

actually, yes.....you ever read the 'Zombie Survival Guide'? the guy highly recommends the AK.......and i realize my feet ain't pretty.........

  13. my sabre 20" 1 in 8" really likes hornady 75's and varget and LC brass and fed 205m primers. it also likes 77 sierras and noslers and bergers, but it likes hornadys better at longer ranges, i think cause' they're a bit shorter, and they are cheaper, and so am i....... winchester 55's pretty much suck, and any 55's won't shoot as good as the heavier(longer) ones in 1 in 8". just my saturday nite $.02......

  14. it's all good......i just go off sometimes, cause' i read some real dumb stuff on reloading threads, potentially dangerous. uneducated reloaders, i guess i should say inexperienced reloaders, can take bad dope and go KABOOM....... and i really don't pretend to be an authority, cause' i really don't think anybody is, there's just too many variables. i just like to experiment, but you just have to learn how to do this, and using forum BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, data ain't the way to do it. maybe if i know the person, i might try his recipe, but even then with a grain of salt...........

  15. get a manual, or use manufacturers data on their websites! not doing this is a definite DQ'able offense! only pay attention to forum(this ain't the only one) reloading data when you know what your doing, and then only for educated comparison to what you already know. do your own experimenting with published manufactures data! rant off.....
