Again, if the brass has not been resized, you still will not know. Just using any old fired 38 super or supercomp brass is not going to tell you. The brass needs to be resized before trying to drop it in.
If you are trying to drop in fired brass, that brass has been fire formed to whatever chamber it was fired in and not the chamber you are trying to drop it into.
I have a 38super, that the brass that I fire in that chamber, won't go back into that chamber, until it's been resized.

It is possible that itnis indeed a 38super variant, and that the throat is short. Have you tried dropping a resized but unloaded case into the chamber?

All,
Recently there has been an uptick in potential scammers here on the forum. We try to catch them early and remove them, but we can't catch them all. This is just a reminder to do your due diligence when making a classifieds deal.
If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
If you have a WTB ad up, and someone contacts you saying they have what you want for sale, and they have zero (0) posts on the forum, it is probably a scam.
When in doubt of the authenticity of a forum member, contact a moderator.
Do your research.

The buffers are very soft and get chewed up easily. You can remove the buffer or change it to an aluminum. The stoppages are probably caused by the buffer.

Come on guys, I know that there are more than 5 of you out there!

Recently read a discussion about this.
For those of you who shoot or shot Production / CO with hammer fired guns...
Do or did you notice the first DA shot from the holster?
If you did notice it, how did you go about getting past that first DA shot, and getting rounds on target for the second SA shot?
What training did you do to minimize the difference in trigger pull between the first and second shot?
I don't think I've ever noticed the difference, so I can't objectively comment. I just never seemed to pay attention to that first shot, just put the sites on the target and squeezed.

Newb who recently got into uspsa. Been doing CO and LO. But really wanting to do open. Tips? Do I absolutely need to reload? We havr some M class open who just buy factory major.
Welcome to the forum.
As for major PF open gun ammo, that is going to depend on what caliber...I'm pretty sure you aren't going to find 9mm or 38super/SC major on any normal store shelves. Probably 95% or more of open shooters load their own.

I get to reverse a shoulda woulda coulda,, I left a boat I enjoyed, working for a company that was good to me to do what I thought would be near same situation for 25% more money and things didnt work out, have bounced around several companies all paying the same higher rates,, only to have my life put in danger, be lied to, and thrown under buss by bad management. Generally wishing I had never left original company.
well got an email and just signed an offer from company I left,,, wondering if I was available right away. Yep still at a lower pay,, but you know , money isnt everything.. Quality of life and lack of stress can make up for alot. Having an Army pension that pays ALL my living expenses makes me pretty flexible...
Any way wil have a set month on month off schedule, no more bouncing around, and can actually plan a hunt or some travel ICORE shooting matches.Do they have a need for a master DC electrician? LOL.

I've entered some sort of circular state where I have to ask for a new password every time I log in on a device that is not the one I just set a new password on.
For example I just had to ask for a new password on my desktop.
Now when I attempt to login on my phone or table it does not recognize me. I have to ask for another password reset.
Assuming I do that on my phone I can then no longer login on my tablet or computer until I do another password reset.
Try clearing the cache on your phone. It is not the forum software causing the issue. If you'd like, I can reset your password and see if that helps. Send me a PM if you'd like to try that.

I just retired and moved to Florida. I'm a long time bullseye shooter and shot some falling plate matches. I did get involved with some bullseye people here in Florida but it looks like most of the competition in my new area is USPSA and Steel Challenge. I'm too old and out of shape to run and shoot, so I started shooting Steel Challenge. I joined this forum to get information on Steel Challenge.
I second what Cuz said...had an older friend who would hobble around a stage, but he enjoyed it!
Where in Florida did you move?

When I was a kid, I swear factory .357 was a 125gr bullet going 1425fps.
Has that changed?
Only to have gone up in velocity. Remington 125 jacketed soft point 357magnum is listed at 1450FPS

Servicios, easy to find on ammoseek. Astra is where I’d buy..but worried about reliability
Ah. I've used thousands upon thousands of the S&B's...was hoping someone was importing them again.

so I have to embarrass myself on front of the entire world! A lesson learned.
There was a S&W .40 cartridge mixed in with the .45s in my box of rounds. Outside, in the cold, and I managed it load it in the magazine. (same color shape round). Turns out that it fired, but didn't eject. Which I missed. So when I fired the next round, an actual 45, the bullet pushed the .40 case down the barrel......till it stopped.

Well, the price turns out not to be so great after all, ~$62/k after that horrendous shipping charge. A few outfits have S&A primers for <$55/k shipped so these may not be worth the gamble.
Still curious if they're really Russian primers in disguise...
S&A primers? You mean S&B?
What outfits have those?

Try 3.5 of N320 with a 147 coated. That is my load through a Shadow 1. 131-134 PF

Gainesville, FL is about 45 minutes north, matches there, Williston, FL about 30 minutes west, matches there, St Augustine about 1.5 hours away, Fernandina Beach, about 2 hours...sure there are others.

Some powders burn hotter than others. TiteGroup is known to burn hotter and melt / distort fiber optic rods.

Wrong powder.
What powder are you using?

I'd be you they get more then 2k each to cover their travel expenses.
The org spends 300k a year on travel after all.
You are probably correct, but even at $5k each, that is still only $45k for that match, still leaving over $100k unaccounted for.

Since every nationals includes a member meeting now, that means any AD and the pres can expense their travels to any nats event
Even at $2k each, that's still only another $20k or so...still leaving upwards of $140k unaccounted for.

In the early days of STI, they would recommend using 9x23 to break in a new 38super open gun, so yes, if it was 9x23, a 38 super should drop in.
