  1. "obdurate"  You made me go dig out the websters......

You also made me think of a load I had a bad leading problem with. I was using Ranger 200gr SWCs over 5gr VN320 at 1.25 oal. The bullets were sized at .451 and this load leaded worse than anything I have ever seen. The Rangers are a "coated" bullet and do not use a lub ring. I called the distributor and he said he never had any complaints before and allowed me a credit on the bullets I bought. I blamed it on the sizing as I thought they should have been .452 and could not believe he had not recieved any complaints. Now I wonder.......

  2. DBChaffin,

I tested some 230 LRN with 320 and found that 4.2gr gave a PF of 172 out of a Springfield 1911 with a Kart barrel. Good accuracy, soft load. I'm now using 225 TFP's with 4.3gr 320 and they are my current favorite. I have load data on everything from a 175 SWC to 230LRN on the 320 if you need more.

  3. I wish that they had made LIM-10 a single stack division...... I could not give a hoot less how long someones barrel is but it bugs me when the wide bodies download and jump the fence. I do feel a wide body has a advantage over a single stack in reloads. However, it is pretty funny to see a guy walk up to the line for a 40 rd stage with 6 double stack mags.

  4. USPSA's rules are different for the U.S. and they have no barrel length or trigger pull weight restrictions on production class. However, 1911's are not allowed as single action pistols are specifically not allowed. The current USPSA rule book is the 14th edition.

  5. Phil,

I'm gonna take Flex's side on this one, no offence. I think what he ment is not the shooters you are refering to. I think (correct me if I'm wrong Flex) he is talking about the 90% of people who shoot every match they can, put it all out there every time with no chanch of being match winner. They also have no chanch of ever walking up to a prize table at a big match but shoot it because they love the sport. These are the people that the big matches would not happen without. How big would the prize table be if only the shooters who had a chanch to go there were involved? For that matter how big would your local match be if only the shooters who had a chanch of being match winner showed up? I would like to see USPSA adopt a "Trophy" only policy for the larger matches and have sponsers donate to the prize table. No prize table? So what. Reduce the costs and more people will be able to enjoy it. My wife and I both shoot and we wanted to go to the area 6 championship this year but it was just not in the budget. No family discount and a prize table made the match cost too much. I'm also the guy there on every setup day and and the guy there after the match helping take the match down. Without guys like me and you there is no sport and thats what I think Flex ment. At least thats what it ment to me.

  6. That ones deep. It struck home with me. I'm a electronics tech by trade and I have solved some of my most diffulcult problems while sleeping. Beat on it all day and no solution. Go to bed thinking about it and wake up in the morning with the answer. The only problem is I usually don't remember my dreams, I just wake up knowing. If I trust that feeling it is almost always right or gets me on the right track.

  7. Glad I said "almost positive". You are right, the 21 does not have the cut. I was thinking it was like my 35 and the 35 does have a cut slide. If they make a fuss over something as silly as that I'd be dissapointed.

  8. VE,

I'm almost positive that the only difference between the 21C and the 21 is the barrel. If you put a non-compensated barrel in your 21C then you will have a 21.

  9. I feel like my pistol is very safe. I've been shooting it for 1.5yrs and never had a problem with hammer follow. It has a very smooth and crisp trigger built by Rusty Kidd. I was just curious to see what you guys used as most people who handle my pistol freak when they feel the trigger.

Ron, I have never shot a 1911 with no takeup. How is that accomplished? Why do you prefer it?

Pat, do you know how the JP compares with the McArthur? Where do you get this brake from?

    Bill

I can say that the JP comp is very effective. I put 1 on my Oly Ultra Match this winter and I love it. One problem though...... it is no longer Limited legal. They changed the rules 2 months after I put it on ( pinned and welded on post ban upper) and I only got to shoot it in ONE match. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Any open gunner looking for a super accurate no recoil upper?

  11. I used the Choate +5 too and so did my buddy on 11-87's. We were praticing the other day and the rubber plug on the end of the mag tube shot out of his gun along with the spring! Now I'm looking for a way to make a plug that wont come out.
