Thanks.  I received an email from Armanov.  The EU requires double authentication which is the problem.  I may need to purchase a different set of grips.

Weird, I buy from them without issue.

Surprisingly the stuff I buy from there gets here very fast.

I honestly have never shot S2 . how much bigger is the grip on S2 vs S1

Trigger reach wise it'll be the same, it just has the "dogleg" that some people hate and others love.  I like it, like an arched mainspring housing on a 1911, standard Beretta grip instead of Vertec, or SVI/Infinity Signature grip.  I think it fills the hand better.

I agree with the poster above, I'd prefer the standard S2 safety on the compact also, I need a thumb shelf.

  3. I settled on CZC 12lb.

It brings the DA to 5.5-6.25lbs and with extended firing pin and reduced power firing pin spring I've tested it with the hardest primers I know of----IMI and M882 and have had 100% ignition.

Some of those "lawyers" doing that "training" are "internet lawyers".  The hysteria regarding lack of a FPB on a pistol amazes me!

Yep.  I refuse to own a CZ WITH a FPB so am pretty excited about this offering.  I don't care what anyone says even when both have been worked on the FPB equipped guns just don't have triggers that are as good.

And in my eyes the FPB achieves nothing.

I've been using a customized Shadow 1 for carry (overall it is a bit smaller than a S2) but this could change that.

I'm not an expert in mim parts, but I've had a couple of their 1911s with trigger jobs on the factory parts and put over 10,000 rounds through them. One might have been closer to 20.

I think a lot of the mim worry is unwarranted

Have you personally seen many of their mim parts break? I don't think I have

    In person, no.

Pics of broken extractors on forums, yes.

Prices are up significantly, just like for everything else.  $7k isn't uncommon for an SV Limited gun now.  Atlas has Limited guns that are $5500 and $6300.  Some of the other big names are probably $5-6k as well.

I know this is a bit old now but I just got the last guns I ordered exactly a year ago and am working on another build and it is within 100 bucks of last year's orders at 5600.  This is for a coated limited style gun I'm sure to get it to 7k there would have to be accessories involved or maybe some really above and beyond type of options.

Thanks for posting. I think both guns look classy. I am contemplating an island barrel gun and would be interested in knowing which one you like best, the 5 or 5.4 inch? Which grip texture did you get and how do you like it?

    Thanks again.

Well I can't comment too much on the most important things (shooting characteristics) since I only got them Friday and I'm still kind of laid up with 2 herniated discs (was confined to a chair April 7th through about the 22nd).  But I can say just handling it and doing drawing/presentation side by side here in house as I try to see what I'm capable of the 5" definitely feels much better balance wise in the hand despite the difference only being 1.6oz.

I went with the medium of the micropocket textures--- they have standard, tactical, and aggressive and I went with the tactical and it does seem pretty grippy.  I love the grip shape, so much better than other 2011s with the straight back.  It reminds me of a Shadow 2 or Tanfoglio grip.  I'm really pleased with the slide serrations I chose they look pretty traditional but man, they can shave your skin they're so aggressive.  Very well done and funcitonal.

  8. Everyone says they are the most plain SVIs they've seen---but that's the way I like it.  Both are sight trackers, the 5" CrN coated gun weighs 49.2oz (it does have a tungsten guide rod) and the 5.4" DLC coated gun weighs 50.8.  The trigger pulls came in at 1.75lb and 1.375lb respectively.

Why did you go the DLC route? What color did you get? Do you have to “oil” them a bit to keep them from looking dull?

    Thanks for the info.

I should have 2 guns in hand soon I ordered a while back to post comparisons of.  Both will be coated one is black DLC the other CrN.

Oh, I bet that's it then as I ordered 2 guns in May that I'm about to get.  Looks like my next 2 are going to cost significantly more.

When I was chatting with Brandon we discussed the insane increase in copper (I sell it) and he told me that they consume a lot in the EDM process.

Somewhere in this thread, the price of an Infinity was mentioned.  Just to confirm, I did a gunbuilder with SV on a fairly plain IDPA pistol with DLC.  I was quoted $6,600 with one magazine.  I've bought several in my Team days at $3400.

Is that recent?  Maybe they just had a big price hike.  I know when I placed the orders I referenced above they mentioned material pricing was skyrocketing.

Like any of these pistols, magazine springs are a key point in making the guns run.  I replace all of my STI mag springs with 11 coil ISMI mag springs and I never have issues whether using them in a Staccato, Cheely or Atlas.

When I compared STI, MBX, and SVI mags I notice that only STI mags have the unusual large gap between round 1 and round 2 that's supposed to be indicative of potential issues.  This is with the latest STI mags and all stock components.

  13. I also have 2 SVIs on order, both sight trackers with nothing flashy and paid mid 5s.  I was told if I went with bluing vs the fancy coatings I would have saved 7 or 800.

Single side safety, iron sights, more traditional serrations, rail, full dust cover, etc.

I hear you on the Staccatos, was referencing them for price only because clearly in that range just get an SVI.

Doubt he wants to spend $6k+ on a service weapon.

Depending on how he built it it would come in considerably less than that.  Other people are recommending guns just as expensive. (Like the Staccato XC).

If you forego the fancy coatings any sight tracker build should be in the mid 4000s.
