Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. To add to the weirdness, I am able to get the red dot to line up exactly with a laser bore sighter. I have taken the bore sighter in and out multiple times and it is very repeatable. The shotgun does not hit anywhere near where the red dot zero'd with the bore sighter indicates though.
  2. The dot is nice and and bright so the battery works in that sense, the only reason that the battery might effect the POI that I could think of is that it's out of spec dimensionally and ramping up the front of the sight (which is where the battery compartment is) when the screws are torqued down the sight fits flush on the mount with no gaps though.
  3. Have used an R&R saiga with fastfire II on R&R mount for years with no problems. After replacing the battery it now patterns way low at around 15-20 yards with fastfire at limit of adjustment. I shimmed the rear of the site (used a piece of credit card, was in a hurry) and it is still about 9 inches low. I hadn't patterned it recently but it seemed to be shooting at point of aim prior to changing out battery. All the screws are tight, the site is aligned with the indexing pins on the mount and I haven't damaged the mount to my knowledge. Has my fasfiire shat the bed? Are there MRD's with more total vertical adjustment? (this seems challenging info to find). I think Robert at R&R makes a mount for the aimpoint T1/H1 maybe thats the way to go? Any help appreciated.
  4. Rifle is Noveske N4, dillon 550 press with Lee ? dies set to slightly cam over. Fired cases measure around 1.0830 from case head to datum line ( lnl headspace gauge insert . Factory ammo I have measured is about 1.0650. I was sizing my brass down to about 1.0720 which chambered fine ( rifle was clean) but the shoulder would get bumped back to 1.0685 consistently just by chambering. Do I size my cases based on data from fired rounds or on the shoulder bump I get from chambering and why is there such a big discrepancy? Maybe Bolt face getting pushed back that far until the lugs lock up completely with barrel extension when gun is fired? So far I haven't had evidence of either case head separation or had to knock out a stuck round but I haven't got it truly filthy yet either.
  5. Setting up new ctr-02 upper and debating where to put burkett offset mount for fastfire. My old upper has a c-more mrd with oem mount on a jp handguard but new upper will have troy alpha handguard and the standard mount doesn't fit in gap between rail section mounted at 0130 and top rail. I like the idea of putting the offset mount on the receiver behind the scope as it would be closer and picking up the dot should be quicker. Also no worries about POI shift from loose handguard, although I doubt this would be significant issue. My concern though is brass impact and ejection port gas fouling up the sight, especially with the Ctr-02 which just has the plastic nubbin rather than a real brass deflector.
  6. What was/is the match hotel? I couldn't find any previous reference to it.
  7. I don't know who makes it but I saw a cool shotshell carrying chest rig at the BR3G recently. Instead of attached caddies or fabric loops it had a bunch of clips that held the shells directly. The shells were in groups of two and end to end as I recall so you could grab two shells at a time. I called it the Allah Akbar vest because it looked like the guy was strapped with dynamite. I don't remember who made it but the guy who had it was from Team Firebird. You could call Firebird Precision and see if they know who makes it if your interested.
  8. I'm debating about getting one of these for my R&R Saiga. The local match I shoot at often has a stage where you have to mow down a lot of steel without much movement and it would come in handy for this. Anybody have any experience with them?
  9. I've shot open class in 3 gun for awhile (due to Saiga) but until recently used my limited glock 35. I put together a glock 17 with a comp and red dot for 3 gunning and I think I will stick with it. I have always used a 1 3/4 inch wilderness instructor belt for 3 gun. My problem is that my rifle mag pouches and my R&R target belt clips for the Saiga mags don't work well with the CR speed belt and WSM holster ( which I used to use for IPSC) needed for the open gun. If anyone made an open class holster for a 1 3/4 inch belt that would solve my problem but they don't seem to exist. Anyone know of one?
  10. Moved the die down a 1/4 turn past contact with shellplate to cam over. Haven't fired any more loaded ammo but made a few dummy rounds which chamber and extract without any difficulty so I think the problem has been identified. Thanks for the help, TL
  11. I marked up a cartidge with a sharpie and its scuffing at the base of the shoulder so I think you are right. I'll have to see if I can move the die down anymore. A guy I shoot with had similar problems and had to mill the base of the die down a few thousandths to fix it. Hopefully I don't have to go this route. Thanks
  12. I can't figure out why this is happening. Whenever I try to eject an unfired round I have significant resistance. Recently I have had frequent failures to extract and have to ram the butt of the gun on the ground while pushing on the charging handle to clear it. I am using a RRA Predator Pursuit upper (Wylde chamber I believe). Brass is mixed, mostly Lake City and the problem is not brass specific. Bullets are 69 SMK's and 55 Prvi Partizan over 23.8 and 23.5 H335 respectively. Case trim length is 1.745. Cartridge OAL is well below mag length. I am using a Dillon RL 550 with small base RCBS (full length) X-dies. I initially size the brass with a Dillon small base die on a single stage press before the initial trimming. Resizing dies are set up per Dillon instructions. I have checked the cartridges with a JP case gauge which supposedly is tighter for match barrels/semi auto's and they are not tight at all and fit flush. I have checked the ammo in another rifle with a 5.56 chamber and extraction is difficult in it as well. I have made sure the chamber is clean. I haven't changed anything in my reloads and have not had functioning problems in the past although I have always noted difficult manual extraction of live rounds in the RRA with the Wylde chamber.
  13. I've shot some 3 gun but never a USPSA multi-gun match and couldn't find a definitive answer to several questions. For open shotgun maximum number of rounds in magazine is 10. I have an R&R Saiga (with R&R magwell) and only have 12 round SGM mags set up for it. I assume I can download to 10 rounds (ie the maximum capacity can be more than 10 as long as only 10 in it) Second, is scoring based individually on power factor of pistol and rifle or if you are shooting minor rifle is pistol also scored minor automatically?
  14. I've had mine for 3-4 years. Probably put several thousand rounds through it. It generally runs good, the only problem I had with it is occasionally failing to go into battery. I put a heavier buffer spring in which helped. (This may be a magazine problem as well as, I use c products mags in it and the round's extractor groove seems to hang up on the leading edge of the feed lips when the mag is fully loaded) Where I'm at I can shoot it at the weekly indoor pistol match and get some more trigger time with a long gun.
