Looks like even I can't screw that up, thanks!

I'm planning on spending some quality time with my PSS. The stock trigger is pretty crappy - what's the best replacement trigger, or can I tweak what I have?
-
I'm extremely sorry for recommending the pro mags if they're not working. Please let me know and I'll do all I can to help you guys get them running 100%. TT
That's awesome TT, thanks. I just sent a Caspian frame and some Promag tubes to Matt M, so I may take you up on that...

On another subject. My rifle is finished and I have a case of ammo sitting in my truck.
Sweet, all we need is for another 18 inches of snow to melt !
-
Scott- WTF!!! If you are moving to Caspian.......we have to talk before you have the next sale.
Don't know what you're talking about
But let's talk in about 10 weeks, cuz all hell is going to break loose!

BTT
Any updates on the 40 Caspian mags? Were there any on display at the SHOT show?

A square target is the best for Iron sight. Like the old Gun-Site sight in target. 10' sqare in black w/ the center 6" square in white. These also work vey well for optics, but for Iron they are the best! KURTM
Thanks Kurt! Where exactly are you holding/aiming with this type of target?
What is a reasonable expectation for group size with irons if it shoots 3/4 inch with a scope??
-
What type of target (size, shape, color) works best for sighting in and doing accuracy work with iron sights at 100 and 200 yards?
-
Wow, that's strange. I've had really good luck so far with it. I'm getting 173 PF with 4.9 at 1.19 oal, with single digit std deviations over the chrono. Accuracy is good enough for 25 yd head shots with confidence. This is with a Zero 180 jhp.

Kirk,
I have some RS Comp loaded in 180 and 200's. I really like Comp - it's quiet, very clean, and the gun doesn't seem as "jumpy" as with 320. I need some more trigger time with it, but for now I actually like it better that TG and 320.
Let me know if you want to meet at Ike's or Continental to try some.

What are the pros and cons of the Bushmaster fluted heavy barrel vs the government profile barrel? Is one preferable over the other?
-
Eric,
That's what I'm going to do as well. I want to rebarrel, recomp (Benny Hill), and put a FF tube on my Bushmaster.
Who is the best source for a light 18 or 20 inch barrel? I couldn't find anything obvious on the DPMS website, and I'm trying to find a less costly alternative to the JP barrels.

How hard is it to build an AR upper? It seems like it is more of an assembly issue than a building/fitting/customizing one.
Are there any little nuances involved, or it is really as simple as torquing in a barrel, getting the gas ports lined up, and putting on a hand guard?

Two more from the best of Rodney:
"I went to see a proctologist and he stuck his finger in my mouth"
"I went out with a hooker, and she said not on the first date"
RIP Rodney, you were the best

EricW,
What was your load for the Hornady's? I just ordered 2,000 and am ready to roll.
Thanks

I don't know jack about bolt carriers, but I was able to install a CM trigger group in about 5 minutes. It took me longer to remove the grip and safety than it did to install the trigger!
Pull went from off the scale on my RCBS trigger scale to a consistent 3 lbs. Why can't someone make one of these for 1911's??
-
I took a class from TJ a couple of years ago, and back then he used a 0.095 black front with a 0.095 Bomar.

WST loads in 40 generally take about 0.1-0.2 g more than 320. Both my guns make ~170pf with 5.1 WST, Zero 180, wsr primers, 1.200.
WST is great stuff, way cheaper and easier to locate than 320.

Check out this video from hosercam.com for a great demo of how removeable the breech face really is!

The barrel is also ported. Another no-no for limited.
-
Yikes! That's pretty scientific huh?

Well, you have to assume that they were pressure tested, it is Sierra after all, and I don't think they would publish data haphazardly (in spite of the recall of the 300 ultra mag data).
The test gun used was a Para, so there is certainly nothing unusual there.
I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Is our concern over Clay's pressure unfounded?
-
Erik,
Yup, I'm sure it was plain Clays, not the other Clays flavors. It also has data for 320 in 40cal, which not even VV publishes.
-
The latest Sierra reloading manual lists loads for Clays, loaded short, for their 180g bullet, up to 1000 fps (180pf). And they also list it as the most accurate powder tested!

Does anyone know what powder Federal uses in their 168 and 175 Match loads?
