  1. Thread resurrection. Update.

I picked up my new GH2 Limited gun this week, taking it the range today.

That said, while this gun may look plain compared to what some of the other builders are putting out, I love it!

Sadly, I suck at taking close up pics, they all seem to look fuzzy.

Jake is suppose to take some pics with a better camera, and better skill, so it will be awhile before I post a pic.

    ETA: crappy pic!

  2. Yep.........

If you order directly from Shay it is $125 shipped. He also takes paypal.

In fact, I ordered another one today to go on my new Limited gun being built by GH2, and plan on leaving the one I already have on my current gun that will be my back up gun.

    Good product, IMHO.

I also showed it to George Huening, he thought it was well designed. And IMHO, that says a lot.

  3. All you folks that are running a TS conversion upper on your STI widebody frames, I have some questions.

    1) Do you find that the TS mags need some type of bigger/weighted basepad, something that simulates the feel of a Dawson basepad? Possibly something made to cushion an impact when dropped?

    2) Do you find the TS mags a PIA to load and wish they had a retraction button to compress the spring/follower, like a Ruger 22/45 mag?

Note, I have a TS kit for use on my Limited gun and have 6 mags. With very limited use, I have found the above questions/issues could be addressed, somehow.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery!

  4. I have a couple of .22lr suppressors.

One is a Tactical Innovations Stratus, this can pretty much lives on a Ruger 22/45 with a Tactical Solutions top end. looks and sounds great and is user serviceable.

The second is a Thompson Machine Zephyr XL, this can lives on two hosts. First host is a Savage MKII FV-SR, on this host it is "STUPID" quiet. Second host is a 5" barrel AR upper using CMMG .22lr components that I run on one of my SBR'd lowers. Great suppressor, quiet, user serviceable and economical.

  5. CRP Edge owner here, buy with confidence, but be advised the factory blue finish is thin and will wear.

I suggest run for awhile and get used to it, then in the off season send it off for either a hardchrome or ionbond finish.

The above is exactly what I did, I also had my gs take a little weight of the slide since he tore is down to prep the gun for the hardchrome refinish.

  6. Normal with no lube in the lube groove.

Could you elaborate please? Do you mean I should put some lube, i.e. break free inside the mags, particularly on the ribs?

He means that there is no bullet lube in the lube groove. Only the bare lead bullets have it and not the coated lead.

I wish more manufactures had non-grooved bullets. IMO the perfect coated lead bullet would be the Precision 185 gr with the Bayou coating. Sorry, off topic.

I agree, there is NO reason why a moly coated bullet needs a lube ring.

I also agree that a 180 or 185 Bayou bullet with no lube ring would be perfect.

  7. I realize that with current political climate your are focusing on other products, but I have, what I think, is an item that would be good fit with your other products.

I would like to see a Dawson style magazine base plate for use on the Tactical Solutions 2011 conversion mags. That way, when I run my conversion on my Limited gun, reloading drills will feel the same.

    Just a thought.

  8. How bad does bayou bullets smoke with titegroup?

A not much at all, in fact less than some FMJ that I have shot.

I used to use Precision Moly bullets, they are great bullets and very economical. However, I prefer TG powder for various reasons, and while I shot MANY thousands of rounds with PM bullets and TG powder, it was VERY smokey.

I changed to Bayou Bullets late last year, and find them to be outstanding in quality and price.

  9. GH is building me a new Limited gun, but in the mean time I bought a off the shelf Edge for a back-up and to get used to running the 2011 platform. (I am converting from a Glock.)

I find it a blessing to have GH local to me. GH and I have become pretty good friends in the past couple of years. When I picked up my Edge the other evening, GH did a trigger job on it, we went and had a nice dinner.

(The man has some great stories from his years working on Indycars.)

  10. Precision Moly bullets+Tightgroup=very smokey!

Stay with WST for pure lead and PM bullets.

That said, if you use the Bayou Bullets, Tightgroup is not smokey at all, and WST will work great with the Bayou's as well.

As to your original question, you will just have to chrono the rounds and do the math for PF. However, I would say that the slight decrease in velocity due to the slightly heavier bullet, would be a wash in regards to PF, because again your using a heavier bullet.

It will be an interesting test, really. Load some up and chrono them, I would like to see the results myself.
