3nd Annual AR15.com Rockcastle Pro Am 3 Gun Championships
Presented by Brownells and Hornady
August 23-25, 2013
Announcing the 2013 AR15.com Rockcastle Pro Am 3 Gun Championship, to be held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky, on August 23-25, 2013. This will again be the largest multi gun match (500 +shooters) with an epic prize table! If you only shoot one big match in 2013 make sure it’s the Pro Am.
The 2013 Pro Am will use the same match format developed by Match Chairman and NRA board member Joe DeBergalis, Rockcastle and AR15.com. Gary Welborn will again take the helm as Match Director. There will be 250+ am slots and 250+ pro slots, with a Scoped Tactical and Open Gun division in each. The amateur match will be seven stages shot on Fri/Sat with trophies and a huge random draw prize table on Sat night. The pro match will be eight stages on Fri/Sat/Sun with a huge order of finish prize table on Sunday. We are doing the stage design a little different so expect a few surprises. Match slots are going to go faster than last year, so stay on your toes.
We will once again feature the Rockcastle Pro Clinics on Friday and Saturday afternoon and the match will continue to heavily focus on sponsor side matches and sponsor demo matches to raise money for NRA Life of Duty charities. Each evening of the match we will have a sponsor dinner and other social events……a Rockcastle tradition. Last year several hundred spectators and 3 Gun fans came out just to participate in the side events and visit the vender tables. With our sponsors help we are planning for a huge increase in fans and spectators. More info will be available on the side events as the match develops.
Website info and details will be coming soon. Online registration is expected to be around Feb 13, 2013. Also, keep an eye on this post for match info and sponsor updates.
Please remember to support the sponsors that support our shooting sports. Their inventiveness and enthusiasm for the shooting sports is inspiring. The support they provide in the defense of our country and the 2nd Amendment is invaluable.

The 2013 match will be Aug 22-25. The staff will shoot on the 22nd with the main match on Friday through Sunday similar to 2012. See you there!

Great match guys. I'm looking forward to many more. Thanks to Jeremy, Aaron, and all the ROs for a job well done. Do you have info on the point series posted anywhere?
-
Hate to miss it but I'll be at the AR Sectional instead. See you next year!
I've heard good things about the AR match. Maybe I'll make it next year. Have a good match.......

Our last ORPCI multi gun of the year is this Saturday (9/29/12). Sign-ups opens at 9:00 AM and we shoot at 10:00 AM. The new shooters meeting will be held at 9:30 AM on Bay 2. The match will again be 3gun or 2gun. There will be seven stages for 3 gun and six for 2 gun. The stages will have choices on which guns to use on some stages. Planning one shot per steel and two per paper the round count will be 79/103 rifle, 52/82 pistol, and 32/38 shot and 2 buckshot. The longest rifle shot will be ~200 yds. The stages and info will be posted at orpci.org.

An Open Letter to all the ProAm Staff from the MD
I would like to express my thanks and congratulations for a job well done to all the staff. The ProAm was the largest 3gun is history and we made it happen. Friday and Saturday were long days and everyone stood up and got the job done whatever it took. The overwhelming number of very positive posts on enos say it much better that I can. I was pleased to hear at least one shooter thought we were too easy on the shooters. I asked you to give the shooters every possible benefit of the doubt. That is what I asked for and you delivered. I would not change a thing in that regard.
I hope we can work/shoot together in the future. I had a blast and trust you did as well.
With respect and appreciation,
GW

Sorry guys, but Miss Katie was my favorite RO.

I have had several questions regarding the buckshot requirements for AM 1. For our purposes buckshot means nine pellet OO in 12 gauge.

I think that at the beep birds will start flying. How you use your time is up to you, but you are starting in one of the 3 boxes.
Is there a par time on this stage? Thanks. Didn't see it in stage directions.
All the stages have a PAR time of 100 seconds.
-
Didn't see the Cave Stage on the map. Is it a no go for this year?
I'm at the Rock working on setup again this week. There will be a cave side match. Today I'm hearing rumors of night vision equipment and suppressors in the darkness of Mordor ?????????

Gary, the satellite view was from last years match.
Thanks, I did not intend to send the aerial. Here is the correction..........
-
Gary, Do you have a map layout yet where all the stages are going to be located?
-
What is the trajectory of the flying clays? Are they trap style going away type targets or are they vertical "teal" style like flippers?
The clays will fly more like a trap tgt.

i am going on saturday and was wondering about the side matches. can anyone get in? what gun or guns do you shoot? do you shoot yours or theirs? i have never shot in a competition so i have no idea what to expect. thanks for any info
The side/demo matches are open to everyone and worth the trip. There will also be vender displays and an outdoor banquet every night. The side/demo matches supply the equipment.

START POSITION: Standing behind charge line with loaded shotgun at low readyEngage aerial clays from anywhere behind charge line.
Where is the "charge Line"? Are the shooting boxes behind the charge line?
I'm going to have plenty to do just hitting 1 clay every 2 seconds and leaving the "charge line" with a full gun (10+1 or 12+1, depending on the size of the car in the other stage) much less shooting some steel in between clays and loading.
Now if the boxes are behind the charge line, well then it's going to be real fun. And I would expect the real Pros to all have the same time; 20ish seconds.
David E.
The charge line will be along the front lines of the shootings boxes. It will be possible to engage the clays from the boxes or while moving between the boxes.

Stages look great!
Since some will know the answers, can we all know the max distance for rifle shots in Pro? max slug distance?
Also, can we get an idea as to how the clay throwers work? Looks like a trap-like thrower. will they fly out basically in front of the shooter, like trap? will they fly one after the other, doubles, at random or what?
Thanks for great stages!
I will not know the exact max distances on rifle flasher tgts until we set the steel. Right now I'm thinking in the 300 to 350 yd range. The slug tgt distances will be 50 to 75 yds.
M
The trap is a Promatic sporting clays trap. The tgts will fly perpendicular to the firing line. The trap will activate on the start signal and throw ten clays one every two seconds in the Pro match. This stage is all Kurt Miller's and I'm looking forward to shooting it!
Are those slug targets full size ipsc steel or smaller like a BC zone target?
My plan is to use the MGM B/C zone tgts.
-
Can we ship our ammo to the Rockcastle facility for the match?
Yes, ship it to the below address and attach a note with your info. Let me know when it will arrive and I will check on it for you.

i am new to three gun so don't get mad if you don't like my questions, i have 2.
first, if i put two hits on every piece of paper there are no penalties or 1 A hit on every paper. so 2 C's or 2D's or any combination of 2 hit in all scoring zones is 0 penalties.
on the am stage 6, not sure of the pro stage number. the one with the 10 clays thrown in 2 and 3 sec gaps. when the buzzer sounds is the first clay thrown or does it wait 2 or 3 secs.
piece i'm outta here
Welcome to world of multi gun. It's three times the opportunity to screw up. :D
You are correct on the paper tgt scoring. Any paper target designated as a "shoot" target requires one (1) A zone or upper A/B zone hit or two (2) hits inside the target scoring perforations to neutralize.

Paper traget question: Will the FNH pizza targets be used in this match?
Smart A@# comment: I can't believe 3 gun shooters are being asked to shoot flying clays in the air!!! (sarc) and load a shell or 2 every 2 seconds!!!
Looks like great stages on the PRO side, now if my 27 round shotgun tube would only fit in the "Smart Car" in stage PRO 2!
David E.
The paper tgts will be IPSC metric and 1/2 scale metrics supplied by C&M Targets. If there is a change I'll post it here.

The trap is a Promatic sporting clays trap. The tgts will fly perpendicular to the firing line. The trap will activate on the start signal and throw ten clays one every two seconds in the Pro match. This stage is all Kurt Miller's and I'm looking forward to shooting it!
Will it be the same on the AM side? 10 Clays at 2 sec.?
The stages look great. I am excited and ready to go. Well, maybe not ready ready... Gotta practice some more.
AM will be one clay every 3 seconds.
-
How are the buckshot targets scored?
We'll keep it simple. It will be scored the same as all paper tgts one A/B or two hits anywhere in the scoring area.
-
This is going to be awesome! I can't wait
Think they kept a car stage in just for us Jimmy?
Maybe they'll feel generous and give us a Lincoln or Cadillac
I have put in a request for two LARGE cars.
