Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've got a 16-40 Limited and it runs great. I also have a Brazo open gun, a few springers, a colt, a glock and a few S&W's to compare it to. Honestly if it did not run I'd not own it. I'd buy another one in a heart beat. I've got 25K rds through it and it has been very reliable. I've run major loads in it and resprung it and run minor loads for my kids to shoot it, no problems. The thing is a tack driver for my daughter with the minor loads. Granted the finish is not on par with my Brazo, nor my springer from the custom shop, but I also paid 5-10 times more for those guns and waited 9 months for them.
  2. I'm loading 45acp and using a hornady 200jfp/xp bullet with IMR 4756 My hornady load manual says 1.23COL and I'm at that or .001 under on the ten cases I hand checked. I hand weighed each powder throw at 7.8 which is slightly under the 8.1 max the book says. Trouble is I'm only at 750fps. Not sure but 8.1 in the IMR book says it should be 880. Seems like .3 grains would not make that much of a difference. I'm using winchester brass and primers. Even more interesting IMR's online data shows starting load at 7.0 and max at 7.6, with speeds of 842 - 941 respectively. So at 7.8 I'm either short or over the max according to the two IMR sources, yet my speed is way off. Chrono checks out KO with other loads that have been chrono'ed on othe units. Factor WW chrono'ed fine out the same gun. Any ideas? Could it be al COL issue, the lenght I'm using is from hornady for the specific bullet. However they don't list my powder, IMR lists a speer 200 jhp bullet with 4756 but an COL of 1.17 which seems very short.
  3. I'm having a ar15 barreled in 5.56 based on a recommendation of the barrel maker. The gun will be used for long range accuracy shooting. I understand 5.56 and .223 are not the exact same thing so a few questions. 1. do they make 5.56 dies or do you use .223? 2. should I start with 5.56 brass or can i size .223 to 5.56 spec's? 3. if I use 5.56 brass what needs to be done tot hte primer pockets to prep for reloading? Thanks in advance for helping.
  4. Consider a Brazo, again he has a wait but the product is top shelf and everything works when it show up. Bob is one of the best known smiths in the country and he earned his reputation with top quality product and service.
  5. Without any upward pressure it moves freely. However the plastic wedge that pushes on it puts upward pressure on it then it binds. I've tried to press it up and over and it sticks really bad.
  6. No I get the same sticky feel with or without a casing in the arm. If I push it manually it seems to move fine, it appears to be the upward pressure combined with the pivot movement that causes it to bind.
  7. I'm not sure I've got the right part name but I'm talking about the cam the empty casing falls into and when you cycle it is pushed over by plastic wedge pushing up on it. It's the part you fit the differnt color bushings into based on the case. Well mine appears like it sits almost square to the past wege when it comes up and does not always want to slide back and drop a casing. It's enough resistance to stop the amr on the press. I've tried by hand and it goes back and forth freely unless you put upward pressure on it, then it sticks. Never had the probelm before but looking at the two edges it is clear a bevel on each to start the cam moving back would be helpful. Any suggestions, I've tore everything apart, cleaned and put it back to together, same issue.

    4756 in 45

Anybody user 4756 in 45? I use it in super 38 for my open gun and for some powder puff loads in 40 for my son and it works great. But I've not seen much if anything about using it in 45.
