  1. I shot an XDm in .40 for quite a while and tried a stainless guide rod, but ended up with a 1911 conversion rod and a 14# spring. I could have had more weight in the front, but I didn't think I needed it. My wife shot it as well and felt it was pretty easy going. But, if it's just more than you want, go for the 9. With the same mods it would be exceptionally light feeling.

  2. after Talking With Max M. This weekend and talking with the Folks running the Steel Challenge FL. that is on the Same Weekend as the Double Tap. we are thinking about moving the Match Up one weekend. Does this Mess with Anyone Travel or Vacation plans this far out? PLEASE LE ME KNOW HERE QUICKLY if it does!

Moving it up will also allow those shooting Superstition Mountain 3gun to shoot DTC as well.

    Do it.:)

That would be awesome! If it changes I won't have to choose! And my wife will be ecstatic because I'll be able to shoot 4 major matches in 6 weeks!

At least one of them will be local.

  3. I had a lot of fun shooting this match, even with the mud. I kept reminding myself that it wasn't raining, and therefore it was going to be ok. Seriously, this was a great match. The ROs put a lot of work in to it, and although we competitors got to trudge around in the mud some on each stage, the ROs got to do it all day. Today must have been like heaven for them out there. It was a lot drier. We talked about bringing in a pumper truck overnight to drench the stages again, but couldn't get one scheduled quickly enough. :roflol:

Thanks to Lee, Ken and all the ROs, who put on a great match. The stages were well designed, technical and fun. It was a good match and I really enjoyed it.

The conditions definitely slowed us all down on Friday, but I did all right anyway. I'm glad it is drying out and I hope that all of the Sat/Sun shooters have a great, safe match. I would like to shoot this match dry, though.

I met a lot of great people and got to shoot a great match. It was a good weekend.

  4. I shot an XDm for a while and used 4.8g of WST under 180g jacketed (Ranier) to make 173PF at 1.130 OAL out of the 4.75" barrel. I never had an issue with the chrono. 4.6 made 165 with lead but it was close enough I only used that for practice.

  5. I once tried to tell my very Irish grandfather a "walks into the bar" joke and it went something like this:

Me: "Hey Grandpop, I've got a joke for you. An Irishman walks in to a bar..."

My Grandpop: "Of course he did!"

    Me: :surprise:

  6. Taran won it all. I got to shoot with him and we was unreal this weekend. Benny took second in Tac. Not sure how the rest of the divisions went. I ended up 1st B in Limited and 5th overall in Lim. It was a fun match for sure. They had to time me with a sun dial on a couple of stages. Great weather was a treat, low 80's.

1st in B Limited and 5th overall limited? Niiice! Sounds like a great match!

I wish I could have been there to shoot with you guys, but I'll get to the next one.

  7. If it is very lightly used you should probably load up the mags full and let them sit for a few days. The springs will take a set and then be easier to insert. I've got the henning mags and although I don't have to push the mag release, sometimes when they're loaded to 21 I have to give them a tap to seat them.

I shoot my Match in Limited. Are you planning on competing with your Match?

By the way, welcome to the forum.

  8. It does sound like your mag lips might be too wide. I generally adjust mine so that when almost full, I cannot pull the nose of a bullet up through the feed lips with just finger pressure. I'm not sure what the actual specs are on the mags, though. If I get a FTF I'll tighten them up a little until. As for OAL, I load mine to 1.195" currently and don't get FTF very often. I shoot a match indoors once a month (mostly), so sometimes I get to drop my mags on concrete. I'm sure that's not good for the mags, but hey, it's trigger time.

    Hope that helps.

  9. This was definitely a good time. The people and the match were great. We worked our butts off, but had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the competitors that helped us set on stage 2!

Thanks again to Denise, JJ and all the other ROs and I'll see you again next year. Also, thanks to the Wongs for the great food!

And I think I saw that beeradillo attack. I heard that the guy (never did catch his name) got away.
