Maybe @Bdh821Can chime in. Although I have not seen him on the board lately, probably because he is too busy smashing right handed PCC shooters, he could probably fill you in. I do not think it's an issue as he has never mentioned it. Here is a thread with some video of him destroying some steel with a JP5.

Scroll to the bottom of Page 30 to find the video.

  2. My M&P 40 Pro does it. At first I thought there was something wrong with it. Called Smith they said to send it in. I then decided to load some mags up with practice rounds and try in in my shop. I found that when you slammed the mags in at slide lock they usually go forward, both in a Glock and an M&P. I tried several different guns they all did it. It is my believe that the frames flex on the the polimer guns and the slides goes forward. Best to avoid slide lock.

  3. How does the .40 at about 130pf compare to the 9mm at the same pf? I guess there's two rules of thoughts, why shoot a 40 if you don't have to but at the same time, would be cool to be able to bounce back and forth between limited and production with the same gun.

I have been shooting minor loads in my 40 Pro, it is very soft shooting. I use a 180 grain lead bullet and 2.8 to 3 grains of Clays. Liked it so much I sold my M+P Pro 9. Hopefully it will be production legal soon or I may not like it as much.

  4. I bought one a couple of years ago. It took me a while to work the kinks out also. If I had to do it again I'd get one of the super tuned packages.

That being said. I really like the gun. It no longer shoots minor and steel matches only. My wife is shooting USPSA and major with it now.

As soon as she goes back to limited, it is going to be my primary gun for USPSA. It is the best open gun I have. My other open guns are fine, the Steel Master

just really tracks nice and cycles fast. That is just a perfect fit for me right now.

I was curious as to what load you are running in your Steelmaster and if you changed the recoilmaster out for something else. My wife also has a Steelmaster which we are thinking of shooting major loads in. Thanks

  5. Do you know if the RMR mounts on the Docter or JP/Optima mount pattern? Or is it proprietary to Trijicon? Newest Front Sight has an SV in the front cover with an RMR mounted on it. Pretty sweet.

I have a question to add to the mount pattern question. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith who can mill a slide with the correct pattern to mount the RMR direct?

  6. I spoke with Mr. Skinner concerning 9 major in the Steelmaster. He said it would work, but the comp was designed for minor loads. I guess that is one reason why they make the matchmaster now. Both look like they would be fun to shoot.

I visited with STI about the 9mm major issue when mine was in the shop as well. They told me it would work but recommended installing a heavier spring or recoilmaster. I can't remember the exact spring they recommended.

  7. My wife has a Steelmaster 9mm. We had problem numerous problems with it. First the ejector broke, STI sent us one and the local gunsmith installed it. We still had ejection problems. I called STI back and they asked me to send it in. I am not sure what all they did but it now works without fail. I asked them to check and see if it was one of the early STI 9mm slides with the bolt face issue. I don't know if mine was one of the early slides or not. This issue is discribed at gansguns.com. Long story short STI did a great job repairing the gun in a very short period of time and I am a happy customer.

The load I am using know is 6.6 grains of HS6 and the 124 gr MG CMJ bullet. I may experiment with major loads later.

  8. I used the new Wolf silver primers in a club match this morning. No misfires or problems of any kind. I loaded 800 rounds using the new Wolfs earlier this week. A few were hard to seat but I I believe it was because I was using mixed brass. I have had this issue using CCI and Winchester. So far I would have to say I did not notice any difference in the new Wolfs and the old, or other USA brands.

    Tuned trigger or stock?

  10. I have used Wolf primers previously with no problems. In fact, they were excellent. The ones I just received are now Silver and my Tanfolio does not like them. I had to switch to a heavier hammer spring. Has anyone else noticed that the cup material changed and that it is harder?

Did the Tanfoglio fire them ok with the heavier spring? Did they work in your other guns?

  11. I have the JM grips on my 627 and 625. One of the reasons I like them is that I can get a real high hold on the revolver with these grips. I would recommend trying before buying if that is possible.
