  1. ....The whole concept of "safe action" is the biggest marketing lie ever devised. ...

Marketing guys are funny that way. Take the least desirable feature, and call it the exact opposite of what it is, then tell you that is the reason you want it.

Perfect example: "Fun-Sized" candy. Tiny pieces of candy in little hard-to-open wrappers. What's "fun" about that?! Marketing guys :angry2:

"Fun-Sized" candy should be 5 lb candy bars!

  2. .... grip safety. It was designed as an additional safety feature for mounted cavalry....

It also helps keeps the gun from going bang when dropped (same function as the Glock trigger-safety).

  3. Steve, I think you're missing what Springfield Champion's asking.....

SC, you grip safety is working properly, so is your thumb safety. Yes, parts can wear, but if they're working now, they are working. Just do function-checks at the begining/end of use, and after stipping it or relacing parts.

  4. Is it more dangerous or the same to carry a 1911 cocked not locked in a holster compared to a glock? Seems the same to me or am I missing something?

It probably is about the same, but no one is doing it. Either way, you have to pull the trigger to make it go off. And a light Glock trigger compares to a 1911 trigger pull. The grip-safety comes close to doing the same functions as the Glock's so-called trigger safety.

There is no benefit to carrying this way, and most people would consider it unsafe.

    Let's face it though, a ready-to-go Springfield XD IS a cocked-and-unlocked single-action pistol, with a grip-safety.

  5. the way it should be sung .. imho... and how to act during..........

Actually, it was the second post in that thread that got me started on this one.

The first video was better, but still involved singers messing with the song (runs at the end), and crowds making noise during the song.

Maybe, instead of hand-on-heart, we should make it hand-on-mouth!

  6. When the national anthem is being performed - SHUT UP. All the way to the end. Really.

"....land of the free..." is not a cue to scream your fool head off. :angry2:

I don't even think we should bother having the anthem kick off sporting events. Save it for events where it might get the respect it deserves.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, here's a note for all the people who sing the anthem. IT'S NOT "YOUR" SONG. Don't ty to make it "yours" by adding your personal touches (hint: you suck, and will wreck the song*). Sing it straight-up, or step away from the mic.

*Jimi Hendrix is excused from this rule at major '60s rock festivals.

  7. In a funny twist, I am going to run out of the primers I bought when Clinton was elected, before he took office. That's right, I have been burning through a stash of primers I bought 16 years ago!

I chuckle at how small the 1,000 count packages are, and the $10 price tags on them. (For you youngsters, primers used to ba packed all together in a tiny box).

Now, due to bad timing, I'll end up running out and buying again during a silly rush on supplies.

  8. ....Just got off the road after 5 hours of white knuckle traffic and my choice of hellfire, hillbilly or hiphop radio stations. Yes, my 6 disc in dash changer took a crap on the way up ....

Put down the rifle, and get your priorities straight.

If I had to give up my AR or satellite radio, I'd give up the AR. Really.

OK, I know that doesn't help the original problem, but it will at least let you fret less on those long drives.

  9. I'm a Veteran. I know a lot of Veterans.

WE'RE ALL WORKING TODAY! Thanks, Veteran's Day.

My wife (and all of her elementary school students), not a veteran... DAY OFF.

I went to the county offices today (not realizing what day it was) CLOSED.

Still not putting it together, I headed to the post office to get a money-order... CLOSED (but they were decent enough to have a sign up, for us slow vets).

Have you noticed that some people who are least likely to be veterans always seem to get the day off? (Teachers, students, etc.)

    Yeah, I'm jealous. :roflol:

  10. I'm not as much of a sky-is-falling guy as some people.

People treat the recent election results like we will somehow be handed the old AWB rules in short order.

We won't. We will either be safe from that sort of thing, or we'll get something much worse (and expensive). No chance we would get the same rules, with the same grandfathering/workarounds/exclusions.

That said, I'd spend my money on a lower and some magazines, also. Not too expensive, and no matter how things go, you will either need them for your build, or not be out too much $.
