Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. You could always revive the Mid-Atlantic sectional on tha weekend..... What a wonderful idea. It seems to me that even last year they had something "tentative" at York for a Mid-Atlantic Sectional, that never panned out. Perhaps Alan Meek could suggest something in that regard. It would seem that bggest hurdle would be prize tables and sponsorships....that's where all the hard work is, and time is short to start now. If shooters would be content with just a good match, with a teeshirt and a few odds and ends, maybe folks will step up.
  2. After participating in a few other recent matches, we appreciated some of the shooter's input, and addressed that issue. Hope it helps.
  3. The Maine State Championship Match Committee met last night to update the information for the event....October 11, 2008 Shooters be informed that the round count will be 142-148 rounds, we suggest you bring 200 with you. There will be 10 stages, with fixed squadding throughout the match. Anyone specifically requesting to be squadded with another, please note that on your application. For those of you already registered, please send an e-mail requesting your squad pairings to: Pageeboy@aol.com We are about 1/2 full at this time, with and extended registration date of Sept.26, 2008. The application and other information is available at:http://www.scarfg.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/MaineChampionshipMatch Keep those cards and letters coming boys and girls. We hope to see you there.
  4. We apologize, and understand that registration might seem early, the Safety Briefing is at 8 AM, with a hopeful match starting time of 8:30. But remember that 'Down East' Maine gets dark a little early that time of the year. We want to have a full complete match before any chance of low light sets in. Getting up at 5AM, it will be beautiful weather and breathing the fresh salt air will invigorate you...you'll be ready to go before you know it... See you there.
  5. From the rule book on page 41. Failure to properly stow a partial magazine or live ammunition after a Tactical Reload or Reload with Retention prior to firing the first shot after the reload, will incur a procedural penalty. Ahhh...Thank you, thank you, both That came up at the Carolina Cup, and I asked that question of the SO on stage. I'll have to get him to read the answer here. Thanks again.
  6. Following along in this vein, a question came up at a match about stowing a magazine... ...a shooter drops his partially loaded magazine while making a reload at a cover position, must he stow that magazine BEFORE he shoots his next round, or can he shoot then stow it BEFORE he leaves his position of cover? Is there a penalty of any kind, and if so, what is it?

  9. Gentlemen: Yes, Clinton Staples is "The Man" in charge. The range has recently undergone an enormous renovation and expansion. It rivals any range in the Northeast now, and certainly will mature into one of the premier sites in the country in years to come. Clinton is all that you said in your post. He is the MD and is planning 10+ stages in a one day format. You will be challenged. Round count TBD (bring 200). The applications are not yet posted but will be available hopefully in June. Keep your eyes wide open for applications and information sheets. September in Maine is ALWAYS the best month for weather. By October 11th, who knows????? We should be good, but be prepared for anything. REAL MEN in Maine wear teeshirts year round, and go to the beach at 37". Snow IS an option Come join us.
