With the 17 round Mecgar mag, stock follower and CZC base pad I get 22. I shot my first CO match using this set up today and it worked well.

Are those the 17 round AFC magazines?  If so, you're over length.  The tubes are ever so slightly longer than on the 16 round magazines that were designed for use with CZCustom extensions.

  2. I did this for a while. you need CZC mag well, CZC extended base pads (short), mag spring & follower & grips. you will get 21-22 rounds of 9mm in the mag.

I'm running a 75B .40 converted to SAO in Limited. I get 14-15 rounds of .40 with CZCustom basepads.

I took off the magwell and grips and am running a set of Nill Grips. I didn't find it that difficult to reload without the magwell and opted for a set of grips that fit my hand better.

  3. Totally different animals. The TS is a single action only, wider frame gun designed to be optimal for Limited. The Shadow is a DA/SA gun designed to be optimal for Production. The TS has a much greater capacity, being designed around the .40, while the Shadow shares magazines with the standard 75B, which was designed around the 9mm.

The TS Orange is the pinnacle of CZ's lineup for Limited Division, while the 75 Accu-Shadow is the pinnacle of the lineup for Production, and the Czechmate is the pinnacle of the lineup for Open.

  4. Well, I pulled the mags apart and the springs are definitely dead. I have 1 extra spring that was never installed in a mag and it is about 2" longer than the ones I pulled out of the mags.

Time to place an order with CZCustom!

  5. Alas, she just caught me Saturday walking by with a Sig 1911 that I've had since late November. The time before that was with a S&W 627 Pro. Time before that was a CZ 455 Ultralux (THAT was a hard one to sneak in!) I'm running out of places to stash stuff...

  6. Hello.

I have been running a 75B .40 S&W converted to SAO in Limited. I am using 12 round Mecgar tubes, CZ Custom extended basepads, and CZ Custom 10 coil spring/follower combo. I can load to 16, but load to 15 for reliability issues. I leave the magazines unloaded between matches.

I've been running this mag setup since June. We are a small club and shoot once a month. The past two matches I have had issues with rounds nosediving on full magazines. I know this is typical of weak magazine springs.

My questions is: how long should these magazine springs maintain tension for? I have stock Mecgar mags/springs that have been in use since 2008 with no issues. Could the 13 round spring be used? I'm sacrificing 1 round as it is. Could I use the longer spring for extra tension and still maintain 15 rounds?

I need to figure out how I can sneak a TS Orange past my wife and be done with it.

  7. Unfortunately CZ slides are not easy to come by.

And if you do find them, they are 1/2 to 1/3 the price of an entire gun. Shadow slides run $450-475 from CZCustom.

  8. Thanks all. I guess I will get a firing pin block.

If you received the gun without a firing pin block, you will need a firing pin block, firing pin block lifter, and firing pin block spring. You will need to take apart the sear cage to get the lifter in.

  9. My Sister has a .40 Compact. It is HEAVY!!! Even with the shorter slide and grip frame, the rail adds that much more weight. It weights more than my full size 75B .40. I strongly suggest you look into one of the new alloy frame compact guns. You will have to go with a decocker, unless you go even smaller to the RAMI.

  10. I made a set of grips from a Hogue wrap around finger groove set for a 75, I chopped and ground it into 2 grips, looked pretty good, too. Here's what they look like ...not my gun though.

    cz_pistol.jpg

What's the metal plate screwed to the side of the gun for?

    Optic mounting holes.

  11. They are heavy. My sister has the 75B Compact .40 and it is heavier than my full frame 75B .40. The underlug makes it soak up recoil nicely, but the shorter grip frame doesn't fit my hand very well.

If the 85 Compact .40 is anything like the 75B Compact .40, they suffered feeding issues due to bad magazines.

  12. I shoot a 75B .40 converted to SAO. With a 13 lb mainspring and extended firing pin, it is 100% reliable with CCI primers. I just purchased a 8.5 lb spring from CGW to go to the extreme end. I am almost positive it will be a Federal primer only setup. I am going to order the 11.5 lb spring and see how it is.

  13. the leopuld delta point comes with a mount, it hooks into the factory dove tail. Or you can mill the slide and "melt" it in.

Yup, the Leupold Delta Point and also I believe C-More also makes a CZ mount. The C-more would be the highest off the bore, but the Delta point is mounted to the part of the slide that recoils. For the lowest possible, I would look at milling the slide and putting a J-point or Delta Point on there.

  14. I'm new to the game, but something I would rather see is getting rid of L-10 and making it L-20 with no magazine length limit. That way current S_I guys keep their high capacity and guys with CZ's, Beretta's, and Sig's get a more fair playing field. I shoot a CZ75 with extended mag bases and have 15+1 rounds at 140mm. For a 32 round course of fire, I have to reload 3 times, whereas a S_I guy only has to reload twice. To play competitively in Limited wouldn't cost that much more than Production.

So how is that better than L10 where you have all the same benefits, no extended mags required, lots of guns can play, or for that matter, how is it that different than Limited?

I reread how I typed my post, and what I should have said is that I think Limited should be a round limit cap instead of a length cap. L-10 doesn't need to go anywhere...but if I was personally going to limit myself to 10 rounds I would shoot Production. Wasn't the original purpose of the length limit to ACT as a capacity limit? Why not just give it a physical round count number and forget the length limit?
