  1. I am working on it right now. I estimate about three weeks. I don't actually own a Droid so I will have to test it with a co-worker's phone and won't be doing any live fire testing (just flicking the mic which works well enough). The SDK has a great emulator that lets me do the UI and app life cycle (the hard part) on my computer.

The PC version actually works really well when it comes to shot detection, but the user interface and input adjustment is not user friendly.

Awesome keep me posted. I just got my Droid and would be ecstatic if I had a shot timer app.

  2. So, just for general info, does anyone know the actual cycle times of the three major guns discussed. THIS IS IMPORTANT: I'm looking for ACTUAL TIMES. Not perceived times or how they feel. I would like to know. And this isn't for a "mines faster than yours" series, I'm just curious..Thanks for any info.

They are all going to cycle at different times with different ammo. Winchester is claiming the SX3 is the fastest cycling gun when all things are the same.

  3. Yes it matters, not because you are able to outrun it or not. The longer it takes to cycle the action the less time thats left for shooting. For example if the benelli takes .20 sec to cycle and you need .05 to get back on target for a total of .25 splits that equals 2.25 second for 9 shots. If the Remington needs .35 to cycle and the same .05 to recover it would take 3.6 seconds to shoot the same 9 targets.

My testing has shown me that noticable felt recoil is far less important than the cycle time (duration of recoil?) of the action. The 3 major players in our sport, the Benelli, Remington, and FN all have noticable recoil. It is how fast the shotgun cycles and allows you to get back on target for the next shot that matters to me. I could outrun both the remington and Benelli in practice. It never happened in competition, but the bennelli's recoil comes and goes much faster, albiet a tad more noticable. It also swings better between targets for me than either the Remington or the FN.

The FN/Winchesters cycle faster than the Benellis...

  4. Remington 1100 Tac-4 22" barrel ready to go: 7.75 lbs

Benelli M2 21" barrel needs extension: 6.9 lbs

Mossberg 930 SPX 18" barrel ready to go: 7.75 lbs

FN SLP 18" barrel needs extension with 2 more: 7.7 lbs

Winchester SX3 26" barrel needs extension: 7 lbs.

The Winchester SX3 is a gas gun and is the lightest when spec'd with the same barrel lengths. FN SLP/SX2 is the heaviest.

  5. With the RCBS bullet feeder you lose a die and I like to run powder check and taper crimp die. I did run some with the RCBS die and worked fine, no problem with the bullet when it indexes. The Lee holds the bullet up in the mouth of the die, then the case picks it up on the way to seat the bullet with no loss of a die. The collator won't work with cast bullets and makes a mess out of it!

Couple more questions. Do you think the collator would work with black Molly bullets like Billbullets or bear creak? If die space was not a problem would you run the standard RCBS die or your Lee modification?

  6. I bet an AR would still be quicker to run because of mag changes. It will also not be anywhere near as customizable as an AR considering the wealth of AR accessories. You can get an AR trigger pretty damn good... For these reasons I would run a .308 AR if given a choice. If the Kel-tec was super cheap though it might be a different story...

  7. I think you guys are being overly critical. What is wrong with having a nice looking girl give a little blurb about their product? It gets your attention. Also, you can’t expect commercials from a company like EAA to have a budget large enough to hire George Lucas to their Youtube vids. They do not have limitless funds for commercials. Chill out people. Jeez...

  8. I am going to have to agree with Brian and Chris. I tried one in my SS and I did not like it at all. It seemed like it gave a secondary recoil impulse where the muzzle flip is at its farthest point. Like an extra dip right at the top of the arc. I hope that made sense. I dont like them but YMMV.

  9. If you do a youtube search the 930 spx is like a Benelli and can be "ghost loaded" to bring the capacity to 8+1 without having to do anything. FYI. Does anyone know if the safety for a 500 will work? If so Cavalry Arms makes a neat metal safety that is way oversized. Also GG&G has a sling mount to put between the extension tube and receiver tube.
The 590 safety fits the 930. I think all Mossy safeties are the same so i bet it would. I dont know for sure though.
  10. Thanks for all the help guys!

I decided to try Windows 7....

For a HTPC, it kicks a$$! Great picture, EPG automatically updates itself, great UI, gets both digital and analog, just all around great. Now I just need to figure out what all the buttons do on the remote and how to tweak them, along with figuring out if a sleep timer is possible (usually fall asleep to TV), and an easy way to get DVD's backed up on the HDD with thumbnails/synopsis/etc...

Currently running it on my regular desktop and getting used to it.

Windows 7 kicks ass across the board. I am continually impressed by it. Good luck with your HTPC.

  11. Good to hear it ran. As far as the bolt handle is concerned a NOB is a knob. I think the Choate looks cooler and there shouldn't be a performance difference. I would also replace the safety with the Vang one. I guess Mossy safeties are prone to breakage (or so I heard). Plus it is oversized. How does the recoil compare to an 1100 or a Benelli? If you are up there tomorrow I wanna shoot it.
