  1. Thanks guys. Am learning a lot. Will request a U.S. based friend to score 1 Extra Power CS Flat Wire Spring for me. Will try your suggestions with good trigger set and some fine tunes. Relative to above topic, another newbie question: In my pistol, I can have faster trigger reset because my slide backs to battery faster (shorter travel). But in my rifle, I can feel BCG recoiling back and setting up forwardly in a very slower motion. Can I have a faster BCG backing to battery?
  2. Hi guys! Pardon the ignorance as am newbie to rifle. Had been accustomed to shooting in pistol-open division using 38 super where I can have faster splits. Is having faster splits (NOT that sort of open pistol-but a bit faster) achievable in M4 rifles? Can I have faster reset that my second shots could be swifter? Some guys recommend FIRMER BUFFER SPRING as if forwardly throwing back quicker bolt carrier after a shot. Is this ok? Would appreciate inputs...and hello from Philippines.
  3. Hi Chuck. Dante here. One of your loyal followers here in the Philippines. You guys are lucky to own SPS mags that are already smith-tuned. It's a scarcity here. We've to buy the stock, grams spring and follower kit then tune them ourselves. A trial and error thing. In fact, the 29+1 is not yet introduced here.
  4. Hi! Am new to the sport and using SPS 38 Super open. Out here, we are using round nose-Teflon coated reloads and was having problems with OAL before. With 1.240 now, everything goes well. My jams now are usually caused by cracked rim.
  5. Oh my! This is enlightening. Thanks Brian, AikiDale, Flexmoney and others for your inputs. I've bookmarked this thread and IT IS NOW MY BIBLE that I keep on reading-and trying to do everytime. Thinking just because I'm a senior open shooter (who started late in this sport), I had to prove that I can still run as fast as the younger ones and I was after speed ONLY. Justifying that good scoring will come afterwards. Results: mikes. I was just pointing the dot and fire...rapid fire. Many had advised for me to go slower and make sure hits-I was stubborn. This thread opened my brain. Had been dry firing copycat of AikiDale style. Consciously, before I pull the trigger-I make sure that the red dot is "IN" the small ONE DOLLAR coin I painted in boards'A-Zone and in center of round plates. CONSCIOUSLY, I looked at the dot very clearly in front of hazy DOLLAR-CIRCLE PAINT...then pull. When I dash to the range this week-I know there will be improvement. Thanks a lot.
  6. +1 Sir. Hi, am a senior IPSC open shooter. With my small hands can't help but make grip shift each time I had to change mag. Installed an EGW extended as in pic below but had to angle it a bit up coz mag falls most times my left palm crushed the grip. Also inserted a small bearing ball at end of mag release spring (inside mag release housing) to really harden it up. It's ok now. A split second grip shift does not count much, I believe. Also, traversing from port to port gives you enough time to change mag. My simple toy:
  7. Using an SPS 38Super Comp open (C-more sight), at 10 meters, IN A VERY SLOWLY TRIGGER PULL, can place hits at designated round-or-rectangle mark in the A-zone. But after a short run, same distance, hits are on slightly down LEFT-some getting into Charlie zone. My analyses: 1. Pressure of the game, breathing heavily, can cause these " a bit low-left hits" that I might be "PUSHING TRIGGER TO LEFT FIRST BEFORE THE PULL". 2. As I examine my trigger, CAN IT BE THAT IT HAS A BIT BIG SIDEWAY PLAY that in pressure condition-I tend to push to the left this PLAY before pulling the trigger? Need help.
  8. New to Open Division as well. Used SPS Frame, Sleeved Barrel and Slide while ALL other parts were from top U.S. brands. With complete rig and 3 x 140mms & 2 x 170mms, to date, I'm into U$D5,000 already. I agree that the words "budget and open" don't go together but have some ways to economize. I agree with Vulture re commitment if you ever decide to proceed to the dark side. Good luck!
