  1. Anyone have experience shooting a large number of rounds through a glock .40 with a flashlight attached? The reason I ask this is that I recently put a glock flashlight full of lead shot on my 35. Shot a match Saturday and it stove piped more often than I like :(. Friends of mine in Law enforcement said they always had this problem with Glocks and flashlights. So much so they won't do it.

I am sure this got covered, but you need the gen 2 mags. On the back of the mag, near the base plate on the spine, you will see a 2 indictating a second gen mag. Do not confuse this with the pistol generation. I don't have a pic handy, but I had the same issue on my duty gun till I got new mags.

  2. I got my order of 7 of the Tripp 9mm 10 round mags.

    RugerP89IPSC,

Can you list the mods on your RO?

I got the Dawsons. It took a lot of monkeying around and shipping back and forth to get a set of 8 that functioned 100% though.

    Springfield RO - 9mm

    - 17lb mainspring

    - 8lb recoil spring and matching firing pin spring from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop

    - STI Ambi Safety

    - Dawson 180x100 FO front sight

    - S&A Flat Magwell

    - Grips are off a friend's Sig 1911 ( just a pebble textured polymer)

    Weighs in at 42.7oz

    On the list to order:

    - SV Flat Long Trigger/base

    - Dawson Trigger Group 300109A (EGW)

    - Wilson Combat Extended mag release button (blued with the silver button)

I will play around with the weight though. Right now, it shoot damn well and fast with 124s doing 125pf.

  3. Not yet, but I did sit down and modify all the remaining 40-cal Sight Blocks to work with a Gen 4-to-Gen 3 recoil spring conversion. I'd set them up originally for the Gen. 3, not realizing that the Gen. 4's larger-diameter spring moves the recoil guide rod down slightly.

Next version I'll be looking for ways to run a stock Gen. 4.

Very cool. Thanks for the update. Very excited for a 9mm version to come out that's Gen 4-3 ready :D

  4. Cancelled mine yesterday, tired of getting the run around on ship dates. Essentially gave STI an interest free loan for 6 months.

I ordered through a friends FFL, but dealt directly with STI, I was given three different delivery dates for this gun, by STI.

The dealer I work for orders direct from STI. I've never heard of STI taking a deposit on orders.

This, seems odd not just ordering from one of the big guys and using your friend as the FFL to ship to. Dawson would be who I would go through.

  5. Well damnit, I want one now. A friend just got his Limited in and let me borrow his belt, gun and mags to do a few runs on El Prez at the last match. Talk about a sweet shooting pistol. I was amazed at how easy it was to track the front sight. Now I am rethinking having a sight tracker built. Only went low 6s on the few runs I took, but considering the holster wasn't set for me and I had never used the belt, pistol, etc, I was really impressed with the gun. I have owned some nice 2011s too.

Currently shooting Prod, but man do I miss Limited. Don't get me wrong, I love Prod, but man those are some nice pistols.

  6. I finally got some time today to put mine on paper for any fine tuning with the sights. I have run 400 round through it on the plate rack shooting 6 and 8 inch plates from various distance and noticed at 25 yards it was hitting the plates all to the right. I shot a very good group at 25 yards but it was 2" to the right as I suspected. Came in and tapped my sight over and shot another group, still 2" to the right. I checked the sight block for level and made sure the front sight cut was center and it was. Tapped the rear sight over more, another group, same thing...what the hell? I had not shot this gun prior to doing all the mods but I noticed that the stock rear sight was all the way left before I changed it. I studied everything and thought about it for a good while and decided to swap over to my 24 slide, guess what? 2" to the right. I pulled the pins and the locking block just fell out. I am on to something I think. I had purchased one of the machined LWD locking blocks back when they were on an introductory sale a few months back so I stuck one in, I had to force it into the frame. I put my rear sight back to center and fired a group, dead center, 1.8" group, center of the 2" blue square I was using as a target. Problem solved if you ever run into this change the locking block.

Interesting. I figured those might just be snake oil. I'll have to keep this in mind if I have issues. I currently have my glock 17 running a 100% with new springs, connectors and the replacement Gen 3 parts for the recoil system. Next I am going to start trying it out with the g34 barrel to make sure it still running and hopefully Robin will have some sight blocks for the 9mms for me to pick up soon.

  7. Is there any consensus on appropriate front sight height on the 17/22 set up, with a Dawson adjustable rear?

Also any word on a 1/2-28 threaded sight block?

    Thanks.

Hi, I am sure Robin will swing into the thread, but I just thought I'd let all the guys looking to do a 9mm know I spoke with him last week via email about this. He stated that he would look at making some in his next production run. Obviously making just 1 or 2 would be rather tedious. It am sure it would be helpful if anyone is interested in having one made for the 1/2x28 to chime in and give Robin an idea of what his initial demand might look like.

  8. Received my barrel today. As soon as the Loc-tite dries I am going to light it up.

Que the Archer Meme - "Stop I can only get so erect!" That is amazing. Can you spec out the gun please? Obviously SJC weight, TF Sight Block... What recoil system are you running?

  9. Crap! I did the same thing! I ordered a 9mm conversion barrel and had it reamed. I never looked at the thread pitch. Oh, well back to the drawing board.

Dawson sights came in. Went ahead and put them on the pistol since I worked the trigger over and the recoil assembly. Figure while I get the barrel snafu sorted out and wait for the sight block Robin is working on for me (9mm may need a lighter block with more material removed), I will get out and test the pistol more to make sure its still 100%. These are all the same things I have done to my Production pistols and they are perfect, but I figured it'd be who of me to test the pistol now more before adding further variables. So far I have 200 rounds through the pistol after the homesmithing with no issues.

Very impressed with Robin btw, super pleasant and easy to deal with. This is going to be a real experiment, but I think it's going to be a fun ride. I am going to try to get the first blog or two out this week, I will post links.

  10. Just a heads up, if anyone else is doing a G17 like I am, you need a KKM barrel with 9/16 x 24m which is a special order. I mistakenly order a threaded g34 barrel from LWD, thinking it would work, but their thread pitch will not work with the TF Sight Block.

Sights are in, Robin is been super helpful in getting me squared away on the sight block. I should have that in hand soon.

I am going to call Lone Wolf tomorrow to see if they will take this barrel back and calling up KKM to order a barrel with the right threading.

  11. Robin, any suggestion on what height Dawson FO Front sight to use with this set up assuming a fully adjustable rear is being used?

    FWIW

    I'm running a 10-8 Performance sight set with a 0.215" front, and it's hitting POA/POI.

    Awesome, thank you!
