  1. I prefer the Accuracy Speaks trigger. I had some problems with the screws in the JP backing out if not installed properly. The AS trigger is very simple in design. That said I love just about everything else that JP makes. My upper is JP and wouldn't have it any other way. I you ever do have any problems with any of the JP products John is great to deal with. He is a great sponsor and shows up at many of the big three gun matches. He also knows more about making AR's work for action 3-gun than anyone else I have met.

  2. I didn't check the old rule, but the new rule for procuction says they can be notch and post, provided their installation and/or adjustment requires no alteration to the handgun. While I personally don't care, looks like a set of melted in Bo-Mars would certainly qualify as altering the gun.

  3. I have only seen a few people use the C-Mag. If I remember right Jerry Miculek used one at Superstition last year on one of the stages. They're pretty rare to see mainly because of the price, I think they're in the neigborhood of $500.00 pre ban, and they tricky to use. I have been seeing a few more of the 40 round magazines. There is one variant made by England that is pretty good. I believe it is made of steel and was developed for the Enfiled SA80 LMG. If you can find one they're worth grabbing up.

  4. I have one of my SV's hardchromed by Tripp, he did a very good job but I believe he is out of the plating business now. You may also want to look at some of the finishes that Robar does. The NP3 finish is excellent. It's a silver/gray color and is very durable and corrosion resistant. They also offer some black finishes as well. Just a note on the black finishes though. None will be as durable as a silver colored finish. The black finishes, Rogard and Black-T for example, are polymer based and they will wear with time. I also wouldn't recommend Black-T for anything. The last gun I had done by Birdsong took longer to finish than it did at the custom shop. When I got it the finish was already coming off. Within two weeks there was a dozen or more silver spots on the gun. Shipped it back and had the same problem again.

  5. Bob Londigran wrote an article in Front Sight a month or two ago on tuning your ejector. It's very simple to do yourself with a file. I can't imagine any smith charging a couple 100 or even a hundred bucks to tune an ejector. I showed my open gun to Bob at the Open Nationals and he took care of the ejector in about 2 minutes, no charge. My first suggestion would be to try and find the Front Sight article and try to tune it yourself. It is easiest to do at the range where you can make the instant adjustments. If not go to a major match and beg one of the smiths there to fix it for you. Thats what I do, I can cry on cue, it's very helpful.

  6. I'm not sure that Vang Comp barrel's would be a good idea for 3-Gun. I had an 11-87 barrel vang comped as a tactical gun 7-8 years ago. I used it for 3 gun for a couple years after that without much luck. Light recoil but I couldn't hit a dang thing. Finally patterned the gun and found out that with just about everything the patterns were only about 5-7 inches...at 25 yards. It's like shooting a rifle not an SG.
