I recently "inherited" a PACT Mk VI XP timer but didn't get an owner's manual with it. I'm trying to find out how to set the timer beep on instant rather than delay? Can anyone help me out.
Many thanks. pscarlata001@triad.rr.com

I spoke with their match director and the first match will be Feb.21st.

Don't know. Why don't you contact them and ask?

Burnsville is too far a drive from where I live for a day trip.

No I have zero interest in IDPA ("I Don't Participate Anymore"). Thanks anyhow.

I was told that a new USPSA match would be starting up near Asheboro, North Carolina. Does anyone have any info on it?
Many thanks.

Company was founded in 1985. I had Pegram build me a 45 in 1986 or 87. Was told by a local MD that I couldn't shoot it at the match because it held "more bullets" than anyone else there.

I know Para originally offered only hicap frames and later complete guns. Does anyone happen to know the years they were introduced???
-
I know that the first production hicap 1911 was the Para but were there any custom built hicaps used before that???

What about the Trivia Contest? My friend (Mr. Trivia) and I (World's Greatest Living Expert)won tons of prizes doing trivia.....but only a few shooting. We went 12 out of the last 14 years the match was held and still talk about it all the time. Ah, the good old days..............

My Springfield 9mm 1911-A1 has a super tight chamber and even though I guage all my reloads I still have problems. I'd like to try a roll sizer!

Actually the trigger on my 18.9 LDA is about 50 ounces and a lot smoother than a DA revolver. But I cut my shooting teeth on revolvers and still use them for steel matches so it's second nature to me.
I tried and hated it. Same as shooting revolver.

I've used a Para 18.9 LDA in Production for the past four years and LOVE it! Before that I used Glocks and for a short time a Beretta Elite. The Para gives me everything you need for Production in a 1911 configuration so it's similar to my Limited and S.S. guns. I recently found out that Para no longer offers a full sized LDA, only compact CCW pistols. Too bad...........

I shoot production with a Para 18.9 LDA that has a 100% stock factory trigger. I just used my RCBS trigger pull scale to check it and it breaks at just under 50 oz.! That gives me less than 2 oz. of wiggle room in case I decide to smooth and polish it up a bit.
I know some Production shooters who have gotten their Glock triggers down around 2.5 lbs. They are not going to be happy campers about this. I have a feeling that a lot of them are going to move over to Limited.

I have two 9mm 1911s: a Springfield Loaded and a Para 18.9 HiCap. I have had both worked on (what 1911 doesn't need to be worked on?) and both now have good triggers, fiber optic front sights, arched mainspring housings and some checkering. The Springfield needs ammo loaded to long OAL to be 100% reliable but other than that I've been mucho happy with the both.

What I'm going to say will be considered heresy by many and will not doubt get me flamed. I have owned about 20 1911s and shot them in competition for 30+ years and believe that I have the training, skill, ability and experience to use one for CCW. But I feel that the 1911 - or any single action pistol for that matter - is not an optimum choice. Regardless of my experience I have never felt completely comfortable carrying a "cocked & locked" pistol with a short, light trigger stroke. I believe that many persons buy a 1911 simply because there was always one on the cover of their favorite gun magazine every month. Too many of them don't have the skill or training to use one.........and will never get it.I feel that a pistol with a DAO or DA/SA trigger is a better choice for most persons. I cut my shooting teeth on DA revolvers and scoff at the idea that a DAO or DA/SA pistol puts you at any kind of disadvantage in a defensive situation.
Depending on how I dress I carry either a Chiefs Special revolver, Kahr PM9 or a S&W M&P pistol. If I was going to use the 1911 platform it would be one of Para's LDA pistols.
Just my 2/100s of a $ worth.

I've shot a 16.40 in Limited and L-10 for four years now. The ONLY mods I made to it were a fiber optic front sight, arched mainspring housing and a mag well. It came out of the box with a beautiful 3 lbs. trigger. I have had NO problems with it in all this time including when I shoot super light loads in a steel match. I'm not knocking STI, SVI or anyone else but I think my 16.40 is one of the best firearm investments I've ever made.
P.S. - I also shoot a Para LDA 18.9 in Production and love it.

No worries on rain, great match shall be had !!!!
It was a great match. Six stages with a moderate amount of movement and moderate round count. And having two Texas Stars on one stage was no problem at all for me......except for the 3 targets down a hallway I forgot to engage in my enthusiasm for getting to and engaging the second Texas Star! Sigh..............
-
Glad to see somebody is happy about Texas Stars and is going to show up, with the chance of rain Saturday night and maybe into Sunday I have changed the classifier stage to "Payne's Pain" .
Regards,
Dean
Happy about Texas stars? I forgot that sarcasm does not work on the Internet.

Texas Stars.....oh boy, I can hardly wait!!! I was going to shoot L10 but maybe I'll shoot Limited as I may need the 20 round magazines!
