My shooting buddy had his latest build done with a Ti comp. I must say, it came out very nice and he likes it a lot. Personally I prefer steel comps. It's about the extra weight out front, for me.

The tool marks are cosmetic, but I would think they would creat undue wear after a while, a long while, but still. I would have just stoned them out and polished the surface.

I say it to a lot of people. Invest in a Wilson Maintenance Guide. It has step by step with all the pics I need .

Looking good.
For a bushing that is that much oversize I set it up in a surface grinder and have at it.
I guess you could call that cheating, I am a toolmaker and have full access to the machines.

+1 on watching the fitting of a slide. The smith has to do whatever it takes... Sometimes it means wailing away on it. There is nothing worse then when you think the slide is rightand it binds up right at the end of the stoke.
Extreme care is then needed to keep from gauling when it comes off.

The way to go is a 627 in 38 Super. Can't beat it. I do have my eye out for a 686 in 38 Super for the matches that don't alow 8 shot revos.

I usually leave some tension on the lock screw. Not enough to have to force the adjusting screw, but just enough to keep it from floatting around.

I don't like it, but when it's time to shoot the Hogue rubbers go on the gun. I just plain have more control of the gun.

Some guys use 38 Colt brass. I shoot with a guy that trims down 357 brass to a lenth just about the lenght of the 38 Colt brass.
You can also keep your eyes poen for a 627 in 38 Super. The best for reloading.
