I downloaded a listing of feedlip dimensions from the STI website a few years ago.
We got a batch of 9mm and 45 acp 2011s in the shop yesterday. So for ha, ha's I was measuring the feed lips on the mags and found that what is on the list and what the real numbers were worlds apart. I am talking like .060 to .080 difference.
I guess if they work, they work. I was just curious as to why the big difference.
Any thoughts?

I had one of each, PC 625s that is. Both were great guns, but I much prefered the 5 1/4" one.
For me the thing ballanced much better.

I hear what you're saying. I opened it up to .410 and all seems just fine.
I agree that the .425 and up seems a bit on the large side.

On an STI 45 ACP mag what is the recomended width of the feedlips?

I REALLY like to use 7 grains of #7 with a 130 grain plated bullet for my open gun. That load sends up great smoke signals

I find Titegroup fills my needs.

I try to run a brush thru the cylinder between every stage. End of problem. You could also use plated bullets.
Scotchbrite in the chamber will make it worse, you are removing material from in there and allowing more room for the crud to build up.

I find the 6" to be muzzle heavy. I do like the feel of the 4", so that's what I have. And yes there are speedloaders available for it.

The moonies from S&W are excelant. They are EDM'd and will work with any brass. Not brass specific at all.

The factory says they are set up for CCI Standard, so I would think any Standard velocity would be just fine.

I have a couple of shooting buddies that use modified pliers. They did go to the grinding wheel and radius the jaws. Female on one side and male on the other.
They do work well. Sometimes easier than my OFFICIAL tool.

Personally I have never bothered. A reduced power return spring and some polishing has allways done the trick for me.

At least you guys can buy the ammo you want at your local Wal Mart. The one that is the closest for me, I go by it on my way home from work, has not restocked in a good 9 months. The pickings are pretty slim.

Depending on the condition of you Model 27 you may just be able to sell it and get pretty much any gaming revolver you want.

We have a few formats around here for pin shoots.
I have shot them off individual pedestals. 22s got them off just fine, so there was a 22 division.
Those steel tables with the sideboards can be a real bitch when you have a nose over the front edge of the table up against the side rail.
One day I hit one with 8 rounds of 357 factory and all it did was wiggle. :-(
