Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Shot the 15 or so "tight" rounds I mentioned in the above post, they fed and ejected just fine....I'm convinced it was one especially out of spec round that caused my jam....Thanks again guys!
  2. I just completed chamber checking 200 rounds, had some reloads, about 15 (!) which were tight, all the WWB was fine---I've learned something--thank you!
  3. Thank you ------ Sometimes the obvious just isn't ---so I appreciate a detached opinion, mine tend more and more to be detached, from reality! Anyway, thanks....I am pretty certain that it was an ammo related occurance....I did eat a good deal of crow from the 1911 shooters regarding Glock perfection ---but was grinning as I ate
  4. I just got back from a club IDPA shoot. I shoot a G34, with factory ammo (WWB), have a 3.5 Ghost connector, a 5lb trigger spring, stock striker spring, and a 15# recoil spring , Lone Wolf barrel. The gun has never faltered, but it did tonight...I had shot about 20 or 25 rounds without incident on two previous stages, and on the third stage the gun froze up on about the 8th round. Really surprised me, the trigger would not work, I tried to rack it, dropped the mag and tried to rack it again, it was stuck.....the SO told me it was out of battery, I smacked the back of the slide a couple of times, it went into battery, and I shot the round.....It's a club match, I was given a re-shoot, and the G34 ran fine. The last stage was a quick 9-rounder, and the G34 was fine again. This pistol has been functioning flawlessly, I keep it "field strip clean" no deep cleaning ---any suggestions as to what happened? Some suggested limp-wristing while attempting to shoot quickly, one person thought the striker spring area might need cleaning, another thought my ejector might have caused this... I did learn the importance of a total Tap and Rack, in my haste to get going, I got hung up on trying to rack the slide -- so taking care of the problem could have been simpler if I'd had my head on, I just wonder why it happened...
  5. Thanks for a great forum ---some $'s on the way....
  6. Yep ---modification would mean changing category from SSP to ESP ---I'm leaving the trigger guard alone...Thanks guys
  7. Does anyone know if relieving the trigger guard will knock me out of SSP in IDPA? Thanks, Dave
  8. My right hand middle finger has a callus on the first joint from rubbing the lower rear part of the trigger guard on my G34. The callus doesn't make much difference to me, but is symptomatic of inability to get a comfortable grip on the gun. I want to relieve that part of the trigger guard, how do I go about it ? Thanks, Dave
  9. +1 to that....I've learned a bunch, and am about to modify my G34 ----Here's what I'm planning to do: 15# recoil spring (2 #'s less that standard) 4 # striker spring 7 # trigger spring What do you think.... or have you already explained what you think? Best, Dave
  10. Why is the Lone Wolf connector (3.5#?) better? I may switch.
  11. Thanks guys --- appreciate the info, a lot. And thank you for the welcome. I have just a couple of questions... I have been using Winchester White Box ammo (115 gr. FMJ) ---are the primers especially hard or subject to light strikes? I like my Ghost connector, is Lone Wolf that much better?
  12. Am currently using a G34 for IDPA...am contemplating a reduction in striker spring weight, and trigger spring, to produce a better trigger. I have a Ghost Rocket in the G34, which is good, just looking for better. What do you think? Am also looking at reducing recoil spring from 17 to 15....Really would appreciate your true-life adventures and thoughts...
