  1. So the pads that's made and available (on store probably this weekend):

H-520: which is the IPSC BOX 19 round magazine pad.

H-400: factory replacement pad and a neat reload pad (I like short mags for quick reloads)

    H-170: USPSA / IPSC 170.00mm magazine pad that'll give you 29 + 1 rounds in the mag.

H-141: USPSA 21 round mag pad.

When we made pads, I also made some that I called H-171 which is 1.25mm longer than the H-170. I made both pads to their maximum legal length without any regard to how many rounds would fit in the mags. I knew that I couldn't make any bigger magazine / pad and be legal. So, made one for IPSC and one for USPSA. It turned out I can get just as many rounds in the IPSC as the USPSA. So, from now on I'm going to make and sell 170.00mm magazines that anyone can use either in IPSC or USPSA matches and pass the rule book.

And... at the Europeans they had a huge IPSC box. So... I could have made an even bigger IPSC pad for Standard 40. And I will.. I'll probably go ahead and make an H-560 or H-570 which depending on the match you go to and after testing your gun/mag in the box you'll be able to determine if they'll be legal or not. I'll need to make them first to see what'll happen, but I'm positive reloading to 19 rounds will be an easy feat..

We're at the mercy of whatever box they decide to use and the next important IPSC match for me is the World Shoot in Bali next year. I'll bring at least 3 mags with the ++ pads that I'll test there. If they pass, I'll be using them when convenient to reload to 19 rounds..

    For my general safe setup I use the H-520 with a 10-coil Grams/Tanfoglio that'll securely give me 18 + 1 rounds.

A complete article will be written and available on my website soon. That'll hopefully give everyone a good understanding of what to do, what to get to squeeze this sport to it's max..

Where/how can we order the pads????

I have looked on the store and can't find anywhere to order them. Am I looking in the wrong place??

  2. I can't tell if he took off the end if the dustcover or what but i can see and Slim cut along between the frame and slide.

I think what you are looking at is the rail on the slide portion which runs on the inside of the frame and looks like a cut but is the rail. This is visable like this because the dustcover does not extend to the end of the muzzle.

I seem to remember reading on this forum or on Hennings website that he had cut off part of the full dustcover from one of his guns but not sure if it was this one.

He didn't cut the dust cover. EAA doesn't import the sort dust cover model, just the long dust cover model.

When I mentioned cutting off the dust cover, I was referring to the picture shown on his website, which shows a short dust cover and is more than likely an older version, not the pictures shown above on this post.

  4. IPSC Box legal aluminum pads following the same design as the H-140 pad is in production. They will be slightly bigger than the factory aluminum pad and make it easy to load to 18 rounds in 40 S&W. The Europeans is coming up so I'm making these to be ready. They will be $20/pc as opposed to $30 for the factory alu pad. This will also drop the price of all IPSC mags in my store by $10!

Expect to have them available by 22nd - 23rd of August.

Is also a pad to consider for any caliber/division/gun model for a better, more solid pad than the plastic floor plate the factory mags come with. Factory mags will be offered as is for $30 and with alu pad for $50.

Would you have any pictures of a working example to have a look at and are you expecting to have them available on your store on 22-23 August??

  5. I can get 18 + 1 for 40 S&W in IPSC standard class. There isn't enough room to get more than that, but it'll give it another millimeter which is going to allow easy reloading to 18. That's important !

    Hi Henning

That's a very good point! I look forward to when these bases are ready to go. As an aside, received the Grams mag tune kit for my .40 from you and it looks a very sweet setup. I haven't had a chance to have a test run but can load 17 rnds without a problem and there is room for one more once the spring sets. I am sure these kits will also be helped with that little extra space from the new bases as well.

  6. I am also coming out with an IPSC specific pad that will fit in the box. The current factory pad isn't bad, but there's a little more room and it will make the reloads easier with 18 + 1 in 40 Standard class. It'll be the ticket for IPSC Standard and provide a nice small, fast and easy magazine to reload for even Gold Team Open class. The mag will hold 20 + 1 in 38 super.

Will the IPSC specific pads you mention also increase capacity?

  7. I've used them with good luck. It's a tight fit, but it does work. My slide on my Elite Stock will lock back fine. I have noted it shorten slide travel enough that my brass doesn't go as far which is a good thing sine my Stock is 10MM and use to throw brass into the next shooting bay.

Did you have to do anything to the buffer or is it standard? And also when you say it is a tight fit, does your slide ride/rub on the top portion of the buffer?

  8. Anyone have any experience with using the CZ shock buffers in a Tanfoglio Elite?

I tried one in mine but it does not fit like they do in a CZ. I found that I could not lock my slide back with it in and also found I would occasionally get extraction stoppages when I had it in.

That was enough to put me off!

  9. Some people use the Arredondo followers with great success. I struggled with nose-dives from them which was completely eliminated with the Grams kit. If you compare the two they are definitely different. Differences in spring and follower design can make up that 1 round difference, yes.

Thanks for the reply. I have not had any problems with nose-dives to date and have had total reliability. However, that extra round is appealing so will order some and see how they go. Many thanks.

  10. Hi Henning

I am new to the Forum so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

For over a year I have been using the Arredondo follower and spring to get 17 +1 rnds in my Limited Custom mags.

I note with interest you can get 18+1 with the Grams follower and spring, but when I look at the few pisctures of the Grams unit it seems to be very similar to the Arredondo unit.

Do you have any experience of the Arredondo product and if so how different are they and do you know why they load different numbers of rounds?
