  1. Nice that thing really shoots flat well a little kudos on technique to. Is that major PF your shooting either way it looked good.

Thanks, it is major,7.0 gr of WSF 125 gr jhp.

    It feels great.

what recoil spring weight are you running ?

I was curious of that ? myself! I am running a 15lb spring now, & kinda wanna try a 17lb.....thoughts??

    13 lbs work great.

  3. So is the consensus that, if you were to build an open Glock and only cared about shooting major, that the 34 would be as good as or better than the 17?

    No.

    +1 ON THE NO..

  4. Got to thinking a 17 with a comp really has a 5inch barrel, with the extra threaded area.

    A 35 would b around 5.75 inches or so with a compensator.

    just a thought....

  5. The 17 is more like a shorty gun,and I guess a 34 would be like a full size.

Have shot all 17 open guns and seems to work and cycle very well with major

has well as minor loads.Just shoot what you like and feels good to you...

  6. Great videos. I am going to go to Bobby next year and give him my 17 so he can do his magic.

SUPERDUPER: Do you ever shoot in Summerville?

Noximus03: Hey bro, hope to see you next month in Fernandina Beach (SEPSA)

I have not made it to summerville yet.But the woohooo! girl (sandra o.) has invited me a number of times.

Will need to shoot there soon to see the lay out of the range,Lee and Sandra have me setting up a stage for the state shoot next year.

  7. I have one in my open gun and it is very nice.I

also have a glockworx in my limited gun it is

nice as well.used to have 2 open sjc guns that also

    had good triggers.

I think over all they are real close. You will be

happy with bobby's.When the buzzer goes off I cant

seen to remember if my trigger pull was 2,3 or 4lbs

    just start pulling....

  8. You have to lower the ejection port with the carver, but not with the SJC sideways mount, correct?

If you use the side way mount you do not have to lower the port.

There is nothing for the empty case to hit or catch on.

  9. Sorry... I should have mentioned that I am loading MG 121 IFPs to 1.160

Will give it a try, going to order some mg 121 and see if i can get them to

1.160 or aleast 1.155. Could also be Iam using jhp which may be alittle

longer on the sides.thanks for the info.

  10. I shot 6.8 gr. WAC,1.135 oal,fsp primers,125 jhp-c.

14 lb recoil spring.shoots very nice.crisp but flat.

You can also try 6.6 to 7.0 gr. of WSF this also a good

    load with a 125 gr.

I think SJC build guns like the WSF load.

  11. 6.8 gr of winchester auto comp, winchester small rifle primer

    oal 1.135,

That seems a bit short does this work better for you then say 1.150

With a kkm barrel unless you work on the chamber 1.140-1.145 is about as long as you can go.

besides any thing above 1.140 starts to get into a issue with feeding well in a 9mm mag.

I load 1.158 -1. 160 in my kkm. Works fine in my barrel and my mags.

wow anything above 1.145 or so i run into ftf issue.

your barrel may be reamed for a longer round.

  12. Well got to shoot the new open gun tonight.WOW it is great.

shot about 150 rds. 100 major and 50 or so at 150 PF

6.8 gr of winchester auto comp, winchester small rifle primer

oal 1.135,125 gr jhp-c bullet. 1408 av fps

The big stick will hold 29 so i can start with 30 in the gun.

I did a 30 rd start and gun functions with no issues.

25 round rapid fire no issues and off a rest will keep

the hits in about a 3inch group at 20 yards.( im no bullseye shooter)

First match sat. in columbia s.c., I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

Well did not win the match but the gun ran 100% no issues.

A buddy shot the other steel gun only he shot minor and

it also ran 100%.I did manage to win a stage but was alittle

out of control on a couple of stages. Also both big sticks

ran with 29 rd starts.got alot of complements at the range as well.

That always makes you feel good...

Heres the video from this weekend of the new caver custom.

Congratulations 'SUPERDUPER' this is SWEETBACK. I Spoke to you about your Glock at Columbia USPSA Sat. Are you going to be shooting STEEL CHALLENGE this weekend 6/16/12? I will be there with my SJC Open Steel G17 and G34 iron sights shooting both categories. Maybe we can squad up and talk Glocks.

I will be there sounds good to squad up.will be shooting 22rf open and my open steel gun.see you there.

Will try to post video of stage 4 from this weekends match.

  14. Good to hear.

Its a nice pistol you have there.

I'm hoping to have mine up and running in the near future.

Just mocked up all the parts:

    _MG_8745small.jpg

Once my mill is back online, I'm going to make it look a little nicer.

All the open pistols posted so far have really given me some inspiration.

We'll see if it runs in the end!!

So that is a bobby carver thumb rest? Just making sure before i order.thanks

  17. Somebody said it best though, to each his own. Shoot what you like and have fun with it. In the right hands, and set up right, a Glock will run with the best of them. KC won the Ohio State Open title with a Glock by a significant margin.

    Well said....,sir

  19. Thanks, still not shot it yet just got it yesterday.

    The barrel is silver,kkm

Bobby Carver at Carver customs in jacksonville Fla. did the stippling.

The pic's really dont do it justice. It is very well done both looks and

    fit/finish.

    Thanks again Bobby.

  20. Are you Glock open guys at a disadvantage relative to STI open shooters? I mentioned making a Glock open gun at a steel match this weekend and was told, by a guy that had a Glock open gun and had since switched to an STI, that it'd be a disadvantage to run a Glock. I'm hopeful that isn't true.

Well I dont seem to have any trouble beating shooters with STI / SVI and SPS nearly every time out !..................Anybody else ?

    Thats Right...
