  1. It costs quite a bit of money to take plastic.
  2. I got a pound of Unique last night. Thanks for the help.
  3. I'm looking for some lighter loads for a Ruger 41 mag. I am shooting Hornady 210 gr. XTP's with 20.0 grains of H110. Can I go to 15.0 grains? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. I use Hornady dies with Dillon lock rings in my 550b. Except for my 19 Calhoon dies, all of my dies are Hornady. I'm no expert, but they work well for me.
  5. Well, mostly because of availability, I now have 4lbs of W231. I also have 4000 Zero 9mm 124gr. FMJ and 2000 .40 165gr FMJ's. I don't need to make any pf. I just need my gun to function. Any ideas on powder charges? I have several manuals, but I thought somebody on here would have a few pet loads they might want to share. The 9mm is a M&P and the .40 is a Glock 22. I have a 13 year old son and I would like to get him started shooting the Glock, so some lighter loads would be great. Thanks in advance!
  6. Powder Valley for me. I don't shoot competition or lead bullets. They have Winchester and Zero bullets.
  7. I tried to leave as few in the tube as I could. I only had about 6 or 7 left when I started this. I put the ram up and took the primer guide rod off the machine. I also unhooked the primer arm spring. This way I could move the primer arm in and out as I needed. I used a piece of scotch tape to remove them from the primer cup one at a time. It worked, but is there a better way?
  8. I ended up using the rod and the spring. It seemed a lot smoother than just the rod.
  9. Well I put the rod on. It just didn't seem like a good idea to leave it off. I got rid of the clunk part, just like it shows on here. I just got done loading approx 500 9mm on my new Dillon. You know what they say...............Once you go BLUE you'll never go back!!!! I should have got one of these long ago.
  10. I put a spring on the powder measure, like they used to come with. I don't see a need for the fail safe rod. The spring is plenty strong enough to return the measure. I used to reload on a Hornady Projector, it didn't have a fail safe rod. It just used a spring. I never had any problems. Let me know if I am way off on this. Thanks
  11. I ordered a 550B in 9mm. I am going to add to the 550 as I need. I also shoot a .380, 40S&W, 32 H&R mag, .38 spec, .357mag, 41 mag, 44 mag, 45lc, 480 rug. 25-06, 7mm-08, .300 win mag, 19 Calhoon and a M4 .223. I'm sure I won't load all of these calibers on the Dillon (I still have a Hornady Single stage press), but I'm sure I will eventually load for the 223, 38, 357, 44........oh crap.....who am I kidding. They'll all probably get loaded on the Dillon. I used to load all of them on a Hornady progressive. I just couldn't afford to spend that much at one time. As for saving money........I bought 5000 primers for $82.50, 4 pounds of W231 for $54.00, and 4000 124gr FMJ 9mm bullets for $199.90. Brass is $8.95 per 1000. I have a friend with a FFL. The company he buys from delivers to him for a flat fee($10 or $15). He just added my stuff to his order, so there wasn't any shipping. That makes my reloads cost $4.25/50 or $85.04/1000 for the 9mm.
  12. I shot my M&P 9mm and my Glock 22. No need to wory about one powder for two different calibers, I'm not going to shoot the Glock much any more. I like the M&P better. I got it the first week of January and I have shot about 1000 rounds through it so far. I also have a Beretta Storm and a Kahr K9 in 9mm. BTW, how clean is WSF in a 9mm?
  13. OK, here's the deal. I bought a S&W M&P 9mm the first week of January 07. I have shot approx. 1000 through it so far. I also have a Glock 22. I took both guns out today. I shot just over 200 rounds through the Glock and about 100 through the M&P. I really don't have a need for the Glock anymore. So I'll probably sell it. This leaves me loading just one caliber, 9mm. (for now) What would be the best press for my needs, 550B or a SDB? I have other pistols (380,32H&R,38,357,41,44,45lc) and a M4 .223. If I decided to load other pistol calibers, which press is easier to do a caliber change? I already have a Hornady single stage press for rifle reloading. Mostly I will be shooting lots of 9mm. I have the M&P, Kahr P9, Beretta Storm(9mm) and a 13 year old son.
  14. I burned up a RCBS and 3 Lymans before I got a Dillon. I got the bigger one. Spend the extra money and get a seperator too.
  15. Thanks for your concern, but............. I posted this in both places(9 and 40) because some people don't shoot both calibers. I have never looked in any of the other caliber postings, because I'm not loading any of those yet. I wanted opinions from 9mm and 40S&W shooters. The answers I am getting are completely different in both threads.
  16. I need one powder to load 9mm and 40 S&W. Jacketed bullets, 115 gr. to 124 in the 9mm and 165 to 180 in the 40. I am going to try Titegroup. Any other suggestions? I'm not shooting competition, just plinking.
  17. I need one powder to load 9mm and 40 S&W. Jacketed bullets, 115 gr. to 124 in the 9mm and 165 to 180 in the 40. I am going to try Titegroup. Any other suggestions? Thanks
  18. Thanks for the help. It looks like a 550 might be on the way tomorrow.
  19. This may sound like a stupid question, but will the 550 drop powder when a case isn't present? I'm this () close to getting a RL550B. I just have a few questions. Thanks
