Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. 1950rd count update just got back from the range had no malfunctions/failure to feeds one primer strike think it was a bad primer tried it three times. My initial first cleaning at 650rd haven’t touched it for 1300rds the extended mag spring will allow me to top off the mag without feeling like it was binding up it has about a 1/4 inch of downward play that I didn’t have before, I believe that was the issue. My neighbor told me to stop by he was cleaning his guns me and him are going out to shoot in the morning he hasn’t shot his TTI yet we compared the two and his wife’s gun he oiled them up we compared the two and mine just seemed so much smoother compared to his despite 1300rds and no cleaning. I told him lock that slide back for 24hrs load that extended mag to the hilt and let it sit. I’m gonna see tomorrow if I can get to 2k without a failure and cleaning, the more time I get with this gun the more impressed I am with it! The 650mark is starting to look like the break in point for it with what I’m seeing on different forums also.
  2. Steve my thoughts on the TTI after 1300rds . The gun is flat out a laser beam accurate as all get up ! The way the sight picture returns shot after shot and fast is impressive the grip and feel in hand and that trigger is the most impressive striker fire I’ve ever shot reminds me of a 1911 trigger and the ability to change the back straps to fit is awesome the tools, holster and accessories that come in the case icing on the cake! Now for the cons if you would call it that the first 650rds the gun was to tight why they installed the HP recoil spring from the factory as a select group is going to be shooting high power loads or competition 160power factor. Low power spring feels better with the 115,124,135 and 147 than the HP one I shot from the jump not knowing . I’ve had no failure to feed 1300rds other than with the ext mag loaded to the hilt. And two freedom 124’s that were maybe a light primer strike or bad primer from the mfg. I found out they are TTi extra power springs in the mag that I believe put to much pressure on the first round when loaded to the max and that seems to have worked out I’m beyond impressed with this gun my neighbor was so impressed shooting it he bought two one of them for his wife that said I believe the springs need to break in both on the mag and recoil spring and it could go down still go a pound or two on the low power recoil spring just my opinion . I run an 8# recoil spring on my 2011 it came with a 11# My sig 320 spectre comp was the same way way to much spring stock. I’m running a DPM middle spring that’s 7# till i changed it in the sig I had last round failure to lock back and feeding issues I just think they need to break in glad the gun is working/breaking in for you after 650rds that mag spring started to break in all in all I’m beyond impressed with it it is also my first Canik and it won’t be my last looking at a Mete sft pro next . Im glad it’s working out for you the 600-650 rds seems to be the magic break in point with my time with it. Look forward to hearing how it goes with you as the round count goes up
  3. Dam that sucks it seemed to me aside from the beginning this morning as the round count ran up the gun felt like it loosed up with the round count. How many rounds you have through it? Side note I locked the slide back yesterday on the low spring till I put it in my range bag this morning hear that helps loosen the spring keep me updated hope it breaks in for you
  4. Steve I believe the problem I was experiencing was with the mag loaded up it was tight with it loaded to the hilt it was dragging or to much spring on the first round think it’s worked out/breaking in check your feed lips on The mags and also loaded up to the hilt if there is excessive pressure I wonder if I had a burr on the mag lips that worked out and or a combo of the HP spring making it wonky it just seems so much smoother with the Low P spring let me know how it goes
  5. Steve I’ve got an update went and shot another 650rds loaded up some freedom 124gr HP loaded the extended mag to 22rds and decided to try it with the slide lock first round went right up against the feed ramp and stopped flush locked it out reinserted the mag same thing happened dropped the mag again this time with one less round it fed right in subsequently loaded up to max on every mag change 22rds and not an issue at all I even tried not pulling or bellying the slide all the way back and releasing it not a problem not one issue other than at the start tried this with 115gr and 135 also no issues from either hitting the slide lock or racking back and I intentionally just rack back to release and and let go no issues the gun actually felt better with the low power spring then when I initially shot it not knowing that the HP spring was originally in the gun the gun flat shoots I’m impressed I just think they need to break in its so much better with the low power spring let me know how it goes for you
  6. Steve I’ve enclosed some photos of my feed ramp and checked out the mags all mic out the same found something interesting lock back your slide and look at how much play is in the barrel with the slide at lock back I’ve checked out other comp guns I own my 2011’s and 1911’s are all tight and by design so I checked my only striker fire comp my p320 specter comp and it has minimal play after lock back the TTI has 1.76mm of travel at lock out depending on where that barrel feed ramp is in that 1.76mm of play when feeding a round I imagine can impact it not loading properly I experienced 3 rounds catching the ramp flat on initial loading from lock back and I suspect that 1.76mm of barrel movement was partially to blame I could be wrong if others are looking at this thread add some input
  7. I get home I’ll check the extended mag seemed at the time to have play up and down noticeably like it was not as tight on the mag catch as the 18rd might want to double check I get home I’m going to mic them out to see
  8. Hey Steve I’m at work I’ll check when I get home I had no issues with the 18rd mag, the extended mag is where I had the issue it seemed loose compared to the 18rd
  9. I just got mine Saturday put 600rds of 124,115 through it only issue I had with it was 300 rds in with a couple of mag changes first round to feed got caught flat on the feed ramp pulled the slide back like I was shooting a bow and it went right it in had it happen 3 times as the round count went up other then that it ran flawless I shot it out the box from the jump got it home and cleaned and oiled it up good that coating on the inside of the slide whatever it is cleaned up easier than any pistol I own I expected some failures as all guns need to break in overall I’m impressed my only gripe was the mag release was rubbing on the inside of the palm of my thumb went with the largest back strap it put the web of my palm farther back and that went away overall I’m impressed with the trigger and how the sight picture went right back between shots it’s my first Canik was going to pull the trigger on the rival after shooting one then they announced the TTI and decided to wait overall I’m impressed with it hope yours runs better for you after I oiled it down it seemed way smoother than out the box.
  10. New member from Valparaiso ,Indiana joined this forum on the recommendation from the gun dealer I purchased a new gun from. I’ve been shooting for 40+ yrs just started shooting IDPA in CO appendix with a p365. I’m new to the Canik line he suggested this forum. Took a Canik Rival for a spin and was impressed was going to pull the trigger on getting one when they announced the Combat TTI and decided to wait. I picked it up this Saturday and put 600rd of 124 and 115 through it impressive gun. I’m glad to be here on the forum.
