  1. I fixed my pro 9 issues for good. Traded it for a glock 34. I don't know why it is but I shoot the stock glock better than I shot the pro with all apex trigger parts.

I still like the pro 40 though. Mine has much better accuracy than my 9 did.

  2. A division for every gun and a classification for everyone and we welcome new shooters in a way no other sport can come close to.

How many times have you been offered a gun or ammo to shoot a match when you were: new and had no equipment, experienced but had a malfunction, or old and forgot ammo?

  3. No harm. I'm similar in the same way. I have a hard time following multiple threads discussing similar issues. Actually, I have a hard time keeping up with rule changes, written opinions of the governing body, and the fact that the rulebook can be superceded by those opinions. But all that is surely another thread.

  4. Interesting that the other rules around that one specify strong or weak hand only but this one says "strong or weak, provided only one". I think these kind of wording changes can cause the debates we have.

We have an interesting one as well: the way I read it you can shoot at steel till ya run out of bullets, but paper can only be engaged twice total

    Comstock:

    STAGE PROCEDURE

On signal, from Box A engage T1-T6 with 1 round each, perform a mandatory reload then engage T1-T6 with 1 round each, perform a mandatory reload and engage the 2 steel. Arrays may be engaged in any order but a mandatory reload must be performed between arrays.

Failure to perform a mandatory reload will result in 1 procedural penalty per shot fired

How about taking this into a seperate thread?

Well, since the rules we are talking about here are all under 1.1.5 I thought that the WSB I posted would add to the discussion by showing another instance involving this same rule set.

This goes back to my thoughts of reviewing more than just one stated rule when determining resolutions. It seems as though many discussions here are centered around a single rule, not taking into account surrounding and affected rules.

I'm sorry that you don't agree. If the posts truly should be moved then it may be advisable to ask a moderator to do so. I believe regular members do not have this ability.

Since it's Comstock you can shoot the paper as many times as you like, but as it states you have to do a mandatory reload between arrays. As an example you shoot T1-T6 with one round each, then do a reload and shoot T1-T6 with one round each, reload shoot the steel, you can reload again and shoot T1-T6 with one round each.

Hmmmm. So you are saying one can repeat an array? But a miss cannot be made up during one array on paper?

  7. I would think it could be a DQable offense.

    Because:

10.3.1 A competitor who commits a safety infraction or any other prohibited activity

10.5 Match Disqualification – Unsafe Gun Handling

Examples of unsafe gun handling include, but are not limited to:

(but, I don't see a definition of "safely downrange" in the book)

  8. Just for some knowledge. I'd go 45, so you can score major in USPSA single stack. Also if you IDPA you can play in CDP. A 9 single stack in works for ESP in IDPA, but then you will get scored minor in USPSA. On the other hand, if it's truly just for fun and you don't care about placement, then 9mm is fine for USPSA.

Just be warned if you get hooked and start watching the results board. Getting scored minor will drive you crazy. You'll then want a 45 bad.

I vote for a 45 Spartan if you can stretch your budget a bit. However, Rock Island and the dozen or so other Armscor importers are all fine. I'd stay away from the GI models though. GI sights and beavertail are not ideal for competition.

Yesterday 1st place D class single stack at Battle in the Bluegrass 3 was won with a RIA 9mm....by an 11 year old junior no less.

  9. This thread cracks me up. We are talking about stoning on a $600 plastic gun. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big M&P fan but I like them for what they are. I understand some of your frustrations though. I have two great M&Ps, a 9 and a Pro in 9. Both have been nothing but fantastic with and without mods. However, I've handled some from the factory that clearly are not the same. I hate to say it because I have a lot of S&Ws but quality control seems to be hit or miss with these guns.

So, since it's a $600 gun it shouldn't be tweaked to a user's likes and quality control isn't an issue?

Thinking that way says that $1500-2500 STIs should have no quality control issues, but at the same time you have to work on them to get them running (stoning etc...)? BTW, those 2011s are kinda plastic too, just sayin'.

The real issue here is putting "custom yet one-size-fits-all" parts in a factory gun and expecting more than what will result. Match the semi custom parts with some minor fitting and you have a $600 "plastic" gun with some major improvements.

Its really simple. If the APEX parts didn't work and make a difference, they wouldn't sell or be as popular as they are.

  10. I found that I could feel more in the trigger pull after I put the apex kit in. I attributed that to less pressure on the index finger pad causing better feel which in turn may exaggerate the feel of the sear dropping down the striker face.

I stoned the striker face and the feel cleaned up a bit.

  11. Is there anyone out there that has sent there M&P back to S&W for accuracy issues and been satisfied with it upon return?

Read my post above. I am more than happy with the outcome.

I recommend that you state your expectations cleat with the rep. Be honest if you have non factory parts (apex) and if you can remove them before shipping. I had modified my trigger bar an requested that it be returned to me if replaced.

I received the gun back, with a new mag, my trigger bar in place, the slide and barrel replaced, and sighted in with a site that brought POI to POA.

    Very happy.

  12. So, I was going to reload starting this year but it's not going to happen. I do have at least one match with a chrono stage, and I want to be legal even if there isn't one.

Has anyone on here shot a L2 or above with factory ammo? Is there a known load that's available now without a very high cost? Gun is a 5 inch pro 9.

I'm wanting to try DC ammo or Precision Delta reloads but wanted to check here first and see others' results.

  13. I have been on the phone with them. Most recently because the last time I got the gun back (last night) it was missing the locking block pin. It was apparently missing the pin and still acceptable accuracy wise. Not sure how much it shifts under fire but I can pull it a small amount without the pin in place.

Totally Missing? As in it came back from repairs at the factory and was missing the locking block roll pin? I'd be calling and asking to speak with a tech on that.

I will have to take a very, very close look at mine when it comes back.

Mine came back today and looks perfect. I can't wait to get it out to the range and test it out. Thy even sent it back with a new mag in it...I didn't send any in since it had no feed issues. I reinstalled all my apex parts and I'm ready to shoot again.

All I can say is be persistent and honest about your expectations. Maybe mention that you shoot it in competition.
