Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The newer slide also looks to have that channel wider than the older version. The fact that some polymer versions are having this issue makes me wonder if they made a change to a mold/CNC program and now have changed back to one that was working fine before. I wonder if they modified it for when the -S came out, used it for both the steel and poly versions and now see its causing an issue on both.
  2. Thanks! There was a post on reddit that a new SKU was coming, maybe still is or maybe it was just bad info. I see your first was made in early 2023, mine was January 2023. I dont have FTE/FTF issues but I can force the over-insertion problem to happen (especially without the magwell installed). Pondered selling my Rival-S but am waiting it out...if the slide is the fix, maybe Canik will send out slides to people with the issue (instead of whole new guns and/or sending in a whole gun just to swap slides)
  3. Question - did the new one come with a SKU and/or UPC tag? Curious if they changed those numbers, and if they did what are the updated ones. Thanks.
  4. Hopefully+0 plates are coming. I don't need additional capacity but would love to make sure the issue doesn't occur
  5. Hard to tell but I wonder if the depth of that "slot" has changed during production as well? Yours looks a bit shallow compared to previous pics, but it might just be the angle of the pic. It does seem to indicate your mags are slightly over-inserting but the slide is somehow still clearing them (for now)
  6. This will be where the rubber meets the road in regards to Canik service. Though as of late it has not instilled much confidence. Not even sure if you contacted them today about the over-insertion issue, would they know a fix is even available?
  7. I wonder if some of the places that provide chamber services could mill the slide, too.
  8. That is good news, after all. People could, technically, make that channel a bit wider by themselves. Curious if Canik would offer a service for it, or just start swapping slides (or maybe even sending out a bare slide so people aren't missing their guns for weeks?)
  9. I dont think they changed the plunger because it looks like they widened the slot to the "barrel" side of the slide. Note the tiny sliver of material on the left side (looking at the pics) of the updated slot, versus the original. Its probably not that hard to match with a Dremel or maybe even a lot of hand filing.
  10. I find it funny how everyone poops on the Rival chamber needing "fixing", but over in the CZ forum its basically known as something you should do even before using the gun.
  11. This. Im not sure if the need is to mill the "end" of the plunger as we see it, or the notch that is in the plunger. My slide has the milled "slot" that lines up with the plunger. The plunger on mine is no where near interfering with that slot, unless the slot needs to be deeper (maybe they are milling it out deeper on newer guns?). Label on the case of mine was 1/23/23, so January of this year. The over-insertion does hang the slide up, and when Ive re-created it, a small mark is left at the beginning of that milled slot that passes thru the plunger. So to me, it seems the front of that slot could/should be bevelled to help the mag clear...or if it can be milled slightly deeper without making extra holes in the slide, that would be a permanent fix as well. Someone did some measuring on Reddit and found its a matter of something like 0.2mm, so very very little.
  12. For sure. Its interesting the dynamic between Reddit, Discord and here. On here, things like over-insertion, "short" chambers, etc. are an every day thing for multiple guns and plenty of fixes exist. On there, its the end of the world and the manufacturer should be put out of business.
  13. Got it. Foe someone like me that doesn't compete (at least not yet) the baseplate thing is just fine. At least a few people have complained that the base plate isn't what should be stopping the mag from over-inserting and that Canik should "really fix" the issue, but not sure how valid that a complaint that is.
  14. Even the notch location? Then its most likely the location of the mag catch, which means a frame issue (ugh). I know the steel ones were hard to come by for a while and are starting to show up again...wonder if they actually made change(s).
  15. Excellent! Post back your results once you are able. I know "yardsale" mentioned he noticed his mag catch was worn. He was one of the first to use the o-ring mod to help resolve the over-insertion issue. But then noticed even that didnt work anymore, and saw the worn mag catch. Sent the whole gun to Canik AFAIK and they still haven't gotten it back to him. Im kinda thinking the o-rings are stopping the over-insertion but "pulling" the mag down enough that it puts tension on the mag catch, wearing it prematurely (its an mim part, after all) On the Canik subred, someone said they had luck with filing the top of the notch in the mag itself, so it engages the mag catch "earlier" during insertion...meaning it wont be so close to the slide during use so it might still clear. I dont know if these 18 round mags are unique to the Rival-S or not, but it would be interesting to see if it really is just a mag issue. I also thought I read Canik took over production of their own mags, which could lend credence to that theory.
