Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The Uniquetek micrometer bar costs $130! Yikes!
  2. Will the Dillon small powder bar reliably dispense Bullseye and similar pistol powders at 2 to 2.5 grains or less or do I need to get the extra-small powder bar? This will be for small pistol cartridges like 32 S&W Long and 380 ACP.
  3. I've got several Small Powder Bars I'm not using but need an Extra Small Powder Bar to load .32 S&W Long. Looking at photos of both, it seems the only difference between the Small and Extra Small is the "wedge" machined in the cavity of the Small vice the 90 degree flat edge of the Extra Small. Hmmmmm, I wonder if I could "convert" a Small to an Extra Small by filling that machined "wedge" in a Small with something like JB Weld and filing to the proper size? $32 for the Extra Small plus $10 freight from Dillon vs a few bucks for the JB Weld and a little of my (retired) time. Comments encouraged.
  4. Be advised Shooters Pro Shop DOES offer Veterans as well as Active Duty and, I believe also, First Responders a 10% discount on Nosler family products. I just got my confirmation from them.
  5. Want to have your brass stay shiny and not tarnish quickly after wet tumbling with SS pins? It's easy ---- loose the dishwashing detergent and use a bit of automotive wash & wax liquid. The micro thin wax coating not only keeps the brass from tarnishing but makes sizing easier and the expander ball slip easier through the neck of bottleneck rifle cases. Give it a try & report.
  6. Try using an automotive wash & wax in one product such as Armor All or Turtle Wax instead of the dish detergent. Gets the brass just as clean and leaves a micro thin coating of wax that keeps the brass from tarnishing. Probably helps a bit with sizing pistol brass although I can't testify to that yet.
  7. Try using an automotive liquid wash and wax product (Turtle Wax or other) instead of dish cleaner. It puts a very thin coat on the brass so the powder funnel won't stick, it sizes easily and the brass stays bright without quickly tarnishing.
  8. Using the Dillon primer swaging tool before loading I have had ZERO problems priming WCC 9mm USGI brass of any year. I have used both Winchester and CCI primers and will soon be trying Wolf. All loading is done with a Dillon 550. WCC 5.56mm brass of recent manufacture also will be found with a killer primer crimp that the Dillon swager takes care of well. Distinguished Rifleman 1352
  9. Where are Wolf large pistol primers on this sensitivity scale?? I just bought a bunch of them.
  10. All ya gotta do is use the proper size Lyman "M" die to expand the case mouth ID to the correct size. Been doing it for years. So far I've worn out six service rifle barrels and one match rifle barrel with ammo produced this way. Works like a charm. I really don't like dies that expand the neck with an expander ball while withdrawing the case from the full length sizing die. The "M" die ALWAYS makes the case mouth ID sides parallel and the correct size. Distinguished Rifleman #1352 (1998)
