InTheBlack
Had a 1911 mag that wasn't locking in place when inserted. Gave up on the mag. Had some 10 rounders that wouldn't seat after installing a magwell; blamed in on the magwell interfering with the plastic base extension. Went to match, shot 3 stages OK. Fourth stage was unloaded gun in bag on car seat. Grab gun, grab mag, slam in, rack, FTGB. Tap, rack, FTGB. Once more for luck-FTGB. Release mag, grab another mag. Slam, rack, FTGB... eject, lock open, look inside, slam, release, BANG... ok, must be the magwell; gotta insert from slide lock. Re- do the stage. Grab gun, lock slide back, grab mag, slam, release- FTGB. Offline to safe area; look inside with flashlight... looks fine. Mag catch moves side to side as designed... Took apart; mag catch is broken in two. Crack propagated along both sides of a void in the cylinder wall of the Kimber cast steel part. Phone call to Wilson Combat...
