Shotgun Loading Drill

Here's a shotgun loading drill I enjoy with my limited gun:

You'll need one resetting popper or fixed steel plate and eight falling plates, clay bird stands or bowling pins.

Start with gun empty, bolt locked back and pointed in on the fixed steel as if you just shot to bolt lock.  At the signal, load two shells and shoot the fixed or resetting steel once.  Load two more shells and shoot the fixed/resetting steel once.  Repeat six times. After you load two shells the seventh time your mag tube will be full so you can shoot all the falling plates/clay birds etc.

I'm pretty happy if all my loading splits are under three seconds shot to shot and if my shooting splits are under .5 seconds with no misses.

To convert this drill for open guns it helps to have two resetting poppers or fixed plates.  Start with one round chambered and the gun pointed in as if you just shot to a reload point.  Speed load four and shoot two.  Repeat until your speed load fills your mag tube and then shoot as many clay birds or falling plates as you have ammo for.

Enjoy.
